Wu Chun shot back to reality when a petite young lady caught his eyes. The young woman was sitting quietly on a bench just a few metres away from where he was, she seemed to be in a daze, and somehow she looked so fragile and innocent. Then Wu Chun suddenly noticed something, she looked familiar, way too familiar. “Is that Ella?” Wu Chun was about to approach her but she quickly went into her car which was parked near the bench she was sitting. “I need to talk to Hebe”

Ella hurriedly went into her car and drove off. She wanted to see her parents; it has been a long time, three years to be exact. Although she enjoyed recollecting memories of the past, Ella liked her present more. Now was the time she faces her past. This place was the place where it all began and she realised it is where it is meant to end. Running away from problems that weren’t solved was probably the worst decision she made. It kept on hunting her through her dreams, her thoughts; even her daily life was affected. She finished college, everything was almost perfect, and it would’ve been perfect if she wasn’t such a coward. She could’ve just stayed and it all up, and then she wouldn’t have made any more problems in America. Everyone thought she was happy, but no one knew her true feelings.  

She had arrived safely in front of their house, but she didn’t bother informing her mum that she was coming home today; Ella thought it would be too troublesome for her parents to ask the body guards to pick her up in the airport. She thought it wasn’t necessary, besides, she’s independent enough anyway.

“Mum! Dad!, I’m home!” Ella greeted her parents. Her parents couldn’t believe their eyes “Is that really you Ella? Ella’s mum and dad exclaimed

“Ma, Pa, of course it’s me! Are you kidding me? It’s me, Ella” She went and hugged both of her parents tightly

“You became skinny, have you eaten the right food there in America? My gosh, my poor daughter” Chen Ma said worriedly

“Aiya! Ellen, she has grown beautifully, can’t you see her transformation? I see no nerdy glasses on anymore, you’ve turned into a beautiful woman my dear” Chen Pa praised his daughter after he saw how she have changed so much from the last time he saw his precious Ella Chen Jia Hua

“I know Edison our daughter is really changed, Ella I bet you had heaps of broken hearted boys back there in America right?” Ella’s mum teased.

“Ma! What are you talking about? I’m still the same, just minus the nerdy glasses though, I’m still the same old Ella” She defensively replied.

“Ok, OK whatever you say, come and lets have lunch, then after we eat you can go and rest, we cleaned your room everyday so you don’t need to worry. You’ve been travelling for a day, you need to repose”

Ella nodded in response and had lunch with her parents, and for the rest of the day, she went into her room and dozed off

“What do you want?! Wu Chun! It’s so late at night! Whatever it is can we talk about it tomorrow?” Hebe shouted at the man who was calling her at exactly 3:00 in the morning, great! Just great! Now her beauty sleep was officially over.

“Hebe, I swear I just saw Ella near the school this morning” came Wu Chun’s enthusiastic reply that annoyed the heck out of Hebe

“Well, why didn’t you just approach her, then you wouldn’t have to bother me and wake me up from my beauty sleep!” Hebe shouted through the phone. ‘I will kill you. I swear I will someday!’ she thought angrily

“Ouch! Calm down, fine I’m sorry; I only wanted to tell you because I thought that Ella informed you that she will be coming home. But judging from your annoyed reaction, I guess you haven’t, ok, good night and sleep tight Hebs!” Chun ended the call

“Hey!..” Hebe was about to yell at him again but he hang up just in time. “What did he mean about Ella coming home? Should I visit the Chen’s tomorrow?” After five minutes, Hebe finally drifted off to dreamland
