Chapter 10: A Day to Cool off
My Bestfriend, My LoveThe sunshine shone before Ella’s curtains, it was another day, and she was still dead tired from yesterday’s tiring agenda, she hoped today was going to be better. Ella picked up her phone and dialled Hebe’s number; she could really use a friend right now.
“Hey Hebs, are you free?” She began
“Hey Elle! Fortunately I am as of the moment, I’m all yours if you want” Hebe laughed
“I can only own part of you. Aaron’s going to get jealous. I don’t want unnecessary complaints later about how I stole his girlfriend” She smiled
“Oh whatever! Come here if you want to see me. Bye Elle”
“Ok! Bye Hebs, I’ll see you in 30 minutes” She hanged up and got dressed
When she finally arrived to Hebe and Aaron’s apartment she greeted Hebe and jumped straight to the cushiony sofa bed and sighed
“Whoah! What was what big deep sigh for?” Hebe asked but received no reply
“Let me guess… Chun?” Ella still didn’t utter a word
“Ella tell me honestly… do you still like Chun?” Ella got herself in a sitting position and fixed her blouse. Though Ella managed to open , no words would escape. She could only hang her head low in silence.
“Fine. I’m not going to force you to tell me for now but seriously think about it thoroughly Elle” Hebe tapped Ella’s shoulder. “I’m all ears to you. You can tell me anything, vent it out Elle. Trust me you will only hurt yourself if you don’t”
“I don’t know Hebe, I’m confused. I’ve completely moved on but why do I still have this weird feeling. This stupid heart would skip a beat sometimes when he gets too close, and sometimes I don’t even realise that I’ve been spacing out and completely fallen to his charms all over again. I don’t want to get hurt again Hebe. If I give him a chance, what if I get hurt again?” She was in the verge of crying but she swallowed the lump that was forming in and managed to stop the tears from escaping. Yesterday it only proved that there was still him in her heart. His touch, the way he practically held her to his arms when she almost fell over, she was afraid that she’d fall into his trap again but she vowed that she would never again, Nevermore. ‘Would I be able to keep that promise’ she sighed in defeat
“In the end, it’s all up to you Ella, but how do you know the answer if you never give it a try? Everyone deserves a second chance, why not risk it? If I was in your shoes and I love that certain someone so much, I would do anything to make him mine. Even if I have to swallow my pride”
“But I’ve already moved on” She said ‘honestly’
“Then why are you so worked up for if you’re telling the truth?” Hebe raised a brow
“I don’t know! That’s why I’m confused!” Ella grabbed a bunch of her hair and pulled it harshly while cupping her face.
“Ok now calm down! This is why I told you to think about it first. Don’t ruin your hairdo girl” Hebe laughed at her best friend’s silliness. “No matter what decisions you make, me and Aaron will be always here for you. A great and beautiful girl like you deserve to be happy” She fixed Ella’s ruffled hair and pulled her into a tight hug. “Be strong ok?”
“Thank you so much Hebs! You and Aaron are the best. Thank you so much for being there always.” A tear escaped her eye but she wiped it away. ‘Remember what Hebe said, be strong’ she reminded herself. Hebe and Ella retreated back from the hug and smiled at each other
“For now, let’s go and make ourselves look beautiful” Hebe announced excitedly
“Huh?” Ella made a questioning face
“Let’s go to the parlour and afterwards we can go shopping! My treat!” She stood up and raised her hands up in glee
“Really? Thankyou Hebe!” Ella hugged Hebe again while jumping up and down
“Ok ok!” Hebe laughed and went to her room and got ready for some ladies day out. After fixing herself, the two girls excitedly exited the apartment, hopped into the car and drove off while listening and singing along with the song on the radio

As they entered the parlour they were then seated into the hairstyling section and were excited to see what they would look like after. When one of the workers came to them, it was time to start their most awaited make over to reward themselves and release their stress.
Both Ella and Hebe got their hair done first. Hebe’s hair was stylised into a wavy looking brown hair with matching side fringe to enhance the shape of her small face. She looked undeniably gorgeous with those light blonde highlights as well. Ella’s dark shoulder length hair on the other hand was curled to perfection, though simple, her fringe fell neatly into her silky smooth white face and complimented its shape.
They both had light makeup to sum up their new appearance. They finally finished their makeover and was a bit startled when they looked at themselves at the mirror
“Is that really you Ella? Damn you look hot!” Ella said proudly
“What have you done to Hebe you beautiful chic?” Hebe stood happily in front of her reflection
“We look beautiful!” Both exclaimed and made the worker bow in gratitude. They thanked the lady worker and gave her a $20 tip. They exited the parlour and headed to the nearby dress shop. Both of them started to look for dresses that would match up to their new looks. Ella found a cute flowery purple dress that would show of her figure. It was a backlace and a perfect dress for summer. Hebe chose a tube dress with bright yellowish-greenish colour and flowery designs similar to Ella’s. They both purchased the two dresses and went to Starbucks and grabbed some snacks to fill their grumbling tummies.
