End of Flashback (Present day) Kai’s POV

“…I’m sorry…Because I don’t know if I love your father anymore…”

-Why?... Did he do something bad?...- Kai thought as he stared out the window

“Kai”

-Why did mom say that?-

“Kai!”

“What?!” Kai looked up and saw Luhan standing next to his desk, his eyes wide. “I’m sorry…I meant yes?” he asked trying to soften his voice

Luhan shifted a bit and then told him how they were all worried about him, because he’d been staring the whole class period out the window. Kai reassured Luhan he was fine, and that he just had too many things to think about.

“Ah okay Kai. I’ll leave you alone so you can think” the blonde boy said with a nervous smile before leaving with Ximuin

-I have to find out what’s going on- Getting up; he grabbed his bag and stuffed the books inside.

“Ah you’re still here!” Kai suddenly heard someone exclaim from behind

He turned around only to see Park Narae standing there smiling at him widely

“Oh hey what’s up?” He asked smiling back

“Ah not much…Actually I came to ask you something” She said biting her lower lip

“Ah sure what is it?” Kai asked curiously

Narae moved a loose strand of dark brown hair from her face, and gave him a shy smile.

“I wanted to know…if you’d like to go with me somewhere right now”

Kai starred at her surprised not knowing how to respond, but he couldn’t help but smile widely

“Sure!” he said sounding more excited than he’d mean to

“Ah really?! Okay then just let me go grab my bag, and I’ll meet you outside” she quickly ran out of the classroom.

-Oh my God- Kai thought still smiling widely –I need to tell Luhan! He’s going to be so surprised!-

Kai took his cell out and began texting Luhan.

Kai 3:20 pm

LUHAN you’re not going to believe who I’m leaving with today!

It took less than a minute for the doe eyed boy to respond.

Luhan 3:21 pm

Ah hyung. Who is it?  Sehun by any chance?

Kai 3:22 pm

Stop joking around Luhan…Park Narae just asked me to go out somewhere with her today ;)

Luhan 3:23

AH REALLY?!....but then who is Sehun coming home with today?....kekeke Just kidding :)

Kai 3:24

Aish you seriously…Aish…I’ll be home later. Let mom know

Kai face palmed before running out of the class to meet up with the brown haired girl

“Ready?” She asked as soon as he came into sight

“Ready” He replied, not knowing that later on he would deeply regret this.

Suho POV

“Mom we’re home!” Suho heard D.O. call out from the entrance.

Drying his hands on a kitchen towel, he peeked out of the kitchen.

“How was your day kids?” he asked looking at the boys placing their bags on the floor and playfully pushing each other.

“It was good!” Baekhyun replied cheerfully

“I’m glad it was” Suho smiled at them “Go wash up kids, and then come down for lunch”

“Okay” They all replied as they hurried upstairs

However Luhan stayed behind and asked if Suho needed any help

“Wash up first” Suho told him

“Okay, oh and mom, Kai won’t be here for lunch. He went out with Narae, but he’ll probably be here for dinner” The blonde boy informed Suho before running off

-Park Narae?- Suho thought as the name sounded familiar but wouldn’t bring anyone to mind. –AH! Narae!- He suddenly remembered the beautiful brown haired girl who would sometimes come over.

She was the boy’s friend, and she was very nice and beautiful. Suho honestly hoped that Kai would have luck and maybe start dating her.

“Kai fighting!” he whispered, a smile spreading across his lips as he turned the stove off.

After lunch, the kids worked hard on their homework, and Suho made sure to scold them if they slacked off.

“It’s written like this.” Suho told Luhan as he scribbled down the word, and tried to explain as best as he could to the Chinese boy.

It was a bit difficult when the boys first came in. The reason being, that some of them weren’t Korean, but Chinese however Suho tried to teach them the Korean language as best as he could.

“Ah! I get it now mom!” Luhan said excitedly

“That’s my Luhan!” Suho smiled widely

“I’m hungry” Lay said rubbing his stomach as to prove his point

“We just ate Lay” Chen laughed

“I’m starving” Lay complained again

“I’ll make you something” Suho said getting up from where he was sitting next to Luhan

“No mom it’s okay I’ll make something myself” Lay got up and walked into the kitchen

“Okay…You sure?” Suho asked concerned

“Mhm” came lay’s answer from the kitchen

Finally after the boys finished their homework, and they began playing video games, Suho took a moment to curl up in the sofa were Xiumin patted his head lightly until he began to drift off to sleep. The last thing he thought of before he finally gave into his own exhaustion, was of Kris. How mature he tried to act when they first begun dating, but how fragile he actually ended up being. Kris could break easily, and this much Suho knew.

Kai POV

Park Narae proved to be more interesting than Kai had ever imagined. First they had gone shopping, and she had managed to make Kai laugh more than ever when she ran around like a little kid. Afterwards they decided to go eat at a nearby restaurant, and they talked about school and other things.

Narae told Kai that she was actually seeing someone, and he tried to hide his disappointment, but then decided not to mind it since it was still nice having her as a friend. However it seemed that she just couldn’t stop talking about how great her boyfriend was and it begun to annoy Kai a little.

“He’s not the nicest, but there’s just something about him…I’d do anything to stay with him…Anything…” She said as she smiled at Kai

“What school does he go to?” Kai asked curiously

He saw the smile on her face suddenly disappear

“He doesn’t go to school anymore…” she said nervously

“He dropped out?”

“No!”

“Ah…”

“I’m sorry…He didn’t drop out. It’s just that what I meant was that he works already”

“Oh…oh I see.” Kai looked down at the floor trying to avoid the sudden tense atmosphere

Narae suddenly got up making Kai look up wondering if she was already leaving

“I’ll be right back, I need to go to the ladies room” she told him before walking away and disappearing around the corner.

-Well this is awkward- Kai thought as he tried to ignore the whole situation

Not two minutes had passed when Kai suddenly heard something ringing. After moving a few napkins that were spread out in the table, he noticed that Narae had left her phone there.

-Maybe it’s her parents- he thought wondering if he should pick up when the phone kept on ringing. However he tried not to as it would seem disrespectful to pick up someone else’s phone.

The phone kept on ringing to the point where Kai couldn’t ignore it anymore.

The screen didn’t mark any name, just a phone number, but Kai suddenly felt like he’d seen that number before.

-I’m sure…I’ve seen this before…-

The phone stopped ringing, but then a new message came in from the same number.

Why the hell aren’t you picking up?You’re probably just angry about what I said the other day.

“What?” Kai whispered wondering who this might be, and why they were talking like this to Narae.

The phone suddenly began ringing again, and Kai almost dropped it but managed to catch it before it hit the floor. Without hesitation, Kai swiped the screen and pressed the cell to his ear. He waited a bit without saying anything, and a voice finally came through the other line.

“Narae why the haven’t you answered my calls?! I’ve been trying to talk to you since that day, but it always sends me to voicemail. Heck you better…and listen to me well, you better not try anything. If you ever try to say anything to Suho or the kids, I will personally make your life a living hell got it?”

There was a small moment of silence before the person continued talking.

“You should know that I won’t be the only one to get in trouble if people find out we’ve been sleeping together. I might lose Suho and the kids, but heck you’ll lose so much more…”

“Narae why aren’t you answering”

“When I asked you to leave him I meant it” Narae’s voice suddenly came through the line

“Huh?”

“I already know I’d lose much more than you would, but at least I’d have the pleasure of seeing you fall first.” She hissed

“What the are you talking about?!”

“Let’s just say…that you’re going to lose everything you’ve ever cared about, and you’ll come back crawling for me.”
There was another moment of silence before she added with a light laugh

“By the way Kris, your wife did a good job in taking care of the boys. Kai seems to know how to control his anger well enough” And with that, the call suddenly ended.

Narae stood there with a huge grin on her face remembering how Kai looked so pathetic with the phone pressed against his ear. She’d been watching all along, peeking from around a corner. When she finally saw Kai pick up, and then immediately go completely pale, she knew that he recognized that voice.

Tears had fallen down the boys face as he quietly took his bag, and ran out, his hands shaking lightly.

-I’d do anything to have Kris for myself- She thought with a smile as she began putting her things away. Her mind kept playing the first time she had seen Suho, how he seemed extremely plain compared to his husband. Kris was better, and Narae knew that he belonged with her, and not with someone as pathetic as Suho.

Kris POV

Kris slowly lowered the cell that was pressed against his ear wondering what the hell Narae meant before she abruptly hung up.

 Kai seems to know how to control his anger well enough

He looked through his contacts until he found Kai’s number and pressed call.

The phone was off, and it kept sending him to voicemail. Kris began feeling anxious as he tried again. Finally he decided to call Luhan, and see what had happened.

“Hello? Dad” The boy picked up on the second ring

“Hey…Uh have you seen Kai by any chance?”

“Kai? No…He’s out with Narae right now” Kris felt the air being knocked out of him

“Na-Narae?” he asked with a slight hope that he had heard wrong

“Yes…Oh you want to talk to mom?” Luhan asked curiously

“No…No that’s fine…I’ll see you soon” Kris didn’t want to talk to Suho, not now.

“Okay bye bye” Luhan said before hanging up

-Where the heck is Kai- Kris wondered, he got up from his chair and took his cell and car keys.

The elevator seemed to move extremely slow as it brought Kris to the first floor. As soon as the metal doors opened Kris ran out. He hurried outside, and immediately regretted not bringing his coat as the night air sent shivers down his spine.

“” he hissed under his breath wrapping his arms around himself for warmth

Flashback

“It’s getting cold lately” Suho said as they both walked down the half empty streets

It was almost Christmas, and they’d been dating for approximately a year.

“Your hands are warm” Kris said giving Suho’s hand a light squeeze

“Well yours are cold” Suho said jokingly with a laugh

“Haha…very funny”

“Ah me? Yes I’m…”

“Yes I know you’re funny” Kris said before Suho could finish his sentence, the one he always said and Kris even knew by memory now.

“Ah look” Suho suddenly stopped walking and stared at something in the distance

“What is it?” Kris asked curiously

“Christmas tree” Suho smiled widely

“Want to go see it?” Kris asked and Suho smiled in excitement

“Let’s go” Kris laughed

After reaching the tree, they both sat down in a nearby bench. Then Suho pulled something out from a bag he was carrying.

“What’s that?”

“I made you something” Suho smiled shyly

“Oh really?”

“Close your eyes”

Kris obeyed, closing his eyes and suddenly feeling something fluffy wrap around his neck

“You can open your eyes now” Suho told him, and when Kris did, he saw a red and black scarf wrapped around his neck which also had a matching pair of gloves.

“You made this?” Kris asked surprised

“Mhm…You like it?”

“I love it”

“At first I was going to give you something else, but then I changed my mind”

“Why did you change your mind?” Kris asked curiously

“Well to be honest, since it’s been snowing lately, and your hands are always cold I thought maybe something to help you keep warm would be nice.” He looked down smiling

“Thank you Suho” Kris said trying hard not to cry

Nobody had ever worried about him like Suho did. His parents worried more about the company than their son’s life, and now with Suho in the picture, Kris felt like he was being spoiled 24/7. It was something completely new, but it hadn’t taken long before Kris got used to it.

“Thank you” Kris whispered under his breath, and he couldn’t hold back the tears.

“You’re crying?” Suho looked up worriedly “Do you feel bad…Perhaps you didn’t like the gift?”

“No, No…it’s not that”

“Then what is it?” Suho asked curiously

“I don’t feel cold anymore” Kris replied looking at Suho and smiling widely despite the tear that splashed down.

End of flashback

“Where the heck is my car” Kris hissed as he waited for it to be brought

“Sir there’s someone looking for you” A security guard informed Kris

“Who is it?” Kris asked wondering who would look for him outside of his office

The guard stepped away, and Kris froze.

“We need to talk” Kai stepped out from behind the guard and glared intently at Kris.
