Suho POV

“Anemia” the doctor said as he checked the machines connected to Kris

I stood there quietly just starring at the blonde man sleeping peacefully.

It had been an absolute shock to me when I had walked into the room and saw how pale and skinny he was now.

“There is also a concussion because he fell down the stairs. Thankfully nothing is broken, but his wrist is a bit swollen from the fall…There was also a great amount of alcohol in his blood stream, it would be best if we also take care of that.” Dr. Argent said before excusing himself and leaving Suho alone in the room.

 “So this is how you’ve been living all this time?...” Suho whispered under his breath.

He stretched his hand out to touch the man, but was suddenly stopped as his cell phone rang.

Looking down at the screen, he saw Kai was the one calling.

“Hello?” he answered

“Mom?...Oh thank God. Did you get there safely?”

Suho turned to look out the window

“Yes I’m fine, how about you boys?”

There was a moment of silence

“Kai?”

“MOM please get home soon I swear these kids are making me insane!” Tao whined

Suho chuckled “I’ll be there soon”

He heard Kai take the phone back

“How is he?”

“He’s…he’s alright” Suho replied looking back at the man

“Don’t lie mom”

“I’m not lying. He’s alright, just a small concussion”

“Why would they call you if it was just a small concussion” Kai pressed

“I don’t know Kai! However I’ll be home soon, he doesn’t seem to need me here so I’ll leave before he wakes up”

Kai was silent again

“If you come back then I’ll go there to check on him”

Suho bit his lip

“Kai…Why are you so stubborn to see him?”

“I miss him…”

“But he hurt you. He’s the reason you went through…”

“Through what? My depression? My suicide attempts?”

“Kai stop it” Suho heard Luhan say from the other line

“Or maybe it’s because I didn’t want this family to fall apart…maybe I still have hope that everything will go back as before”

“It won’t” Suho snapped without meaning to “I’m…I’m sorry” he said once he realized what he had said

“Don’t…don’t you still love him?” Kai asked

Suho looked down at the floor and then back at Kris “No” he answered without a second thought.

Suho flashback

“The flight leaves around 10:00 am so you should get there about night? I don’t even know” Chanyeol tried to explain as he handed Suho the plane ticket.

“Luhan, Chen did you two go grocery shopping?” Suho asked looking up at the doe eyed boy, and the other who was playfully annoying Baekhyun

“Yes mom” they both replied at the same time

“Sehun”

“Yehet…I mean yes mom?” the blonde boy smiled

Suho laughed “I can’t believe I’m saying this, but please take care of them…don’t let them burn the house down”

“That’s a nice idea” Xiumin laughed

Suho shook his head –Should I even leave these boys alone? - He knew that they were grown boys already, but he was just scared to leave them alone for a whole weekend

He placed his hand on his suitcase

“Okay so boys, just make sure that if you invite girls over…I don’t even want to know what you guys do…but please make sure to use…”

“MOM! OH MY GOD NO” They all made a disgusted face

“Eww eww” Chen whined as he held on to Baekhyun

“Yah let me go” the cute boy tried unwrapping himself from Chen’s arms but ended up giving up

“Haha, just making sure, wouldn’t want to become grandma at such a young age”

“Don’t worry mom, I’ll make sure they don’t do something stupid” Tao said

Suho hugged his baby panda before pulling all the other nine into a tight hug

“I love you boys. I’ll see you all next Monday” the boys helped him get his bags into the cab before waving goodbye.

“Oh before I forget!” Suho pulled out his gold credit card and handed it out to D.O. “In case there’s an emergency use this, but don’t just buy stupid things!”

D.O. smiled widely “Okay mom” he said

Suho got into the car, and Lay closed the door “Take care”

-Okay breathe Suho- he thought as he saw the boys grow smaller as the car moved on -Just one weekend…just one weekend with him…Doesn’t mean anything-

After arriving at the airport, exactly one hour earlier, Suho nervously checked his phone half expecting the police to call and tell him that the boys had burned the house down.

-Aish I shouldn’t go- he argued with himself, but then the intercom announced that his flight would be leaving soon and that all passengers should begin to board the plane.

“Too late” he said annoyed

The plane was packed with people, and Suho slowly closed his eyes.

In reality, Suho hadn’t really told the boys that he was extremely scared of heights, especially airplanes. In fact, Suho didn’t like to admit that he was scared of pretty much anything.

Before Kris and he had gotten married, the blonde would intentionally make him watch scary movies so Suho would wrap his arms instinctively.

The plane finally took off, and Suho held onto the seat trying not to panic.

After several hours of nothing to do, Suho fell asleep and woke up to find out that they were nearing the airport.

“Okay so where’s the hospital?” He asked himself out loud

Suho wondered whether to ask for directions, and then he noticed a man sitting alone in a nearby table.

The man looked like a model because he was straight up beautiful. He had dark brown hair, and to Suho’s surprise, he looked up just in time to make eye contact.

He smiled warmly, and Suho felt himself walking forward toward the man.

-What the hell Suho?!- He asked himself once he got close enough

“Hello…” he stuttered nervously –Oh God you sound so stupid-

“Hello” the man replied again with a warm smile

“Um…um…I hope I’m not bothering, but do you possibly know where this is at?” Suho asked politely as he showed the man a piece of paper with the hospital direction in it.

“Ah the hospital.” The man put his coffee down and nodded “If you’d like I could take you there?”

Suho considered for a moment, would he really go with a complete stranger

“I’m not bothering am I?” Suho blurted out curiously

“Of course not” again with the smile “My name’s Daniel Schwartz” the man said standing up and extending his hand towards Suho

Suho shook Daniel’s hand “Kim Suho” he replied

To Suho’s surprise, Daniel was extremely talkative, and also a good listener

“So you have ten kids?” he asked surprised as they were both driving towards the hospital

“Yeah…I know it’s a lot, but heck as long as I can take care of them by myself”

“Oh…what happened to your wife?”

Suho blushed nervously

“Actually…my husband…”

“Oh”

Suho laughed nervously “We divorced about two years ago, and I took full custody of the boys”

“Ahh okay…I hope I’m not being rude, but…could I know why?” he looked curiously at Suho before turning his attention back on the road

“Why what?” Suho asked

Daniel smiled at Suho’s question “Why you two got divorced”

“Ahh sorry.” He laughed embarrassed “Well, he actually cheated on me” Suho whispered

“Oh damn, and what happened to him?”

“Well actually…He’s the one I’m going to visit at the hospital”
Daniel turned around with a shocked expression

“Wait seriously?”

“Yeah seriously”

“Oh I’m sorry I probably shouldn’t have asked”

“No it’s alright”

“So Suho…” Daniel turned around, and his green eyes turned a bit golden with the sunlight

“Yes?” Suho breathed out

“I’m actually from Germany, but came here because of my father’s company. Where are you from?”

“Oh Germany that’s nice, I’m from South Korea”

“Really?! Wow I’ve always wanted to go back there” he laughed lightly

“I really like the culture, food, and music. Especially this one group that my sister always talks about, Exo I think they’re called?”

“Oh Exo” Suho smiled remembering the very popular boy group back home that was getting more and more popular

They continued to talk for about thirty minutes before they finally got to the hospital

“Well here we are” Daniel smiled widely

“Thank you so much!”

“It’s okay. It was very nice meeting you Kim Suho”

“Same here Mr. Schwartz” Suho bowed down lightly once he got out of the car.

Daniel got out as well and helped him take out the bags from the back seat.

He took out something and handed it to Suho.

“Here take this” he said

“What is it?” Suho looked down and saw a company card with Daniel’s contact information

“Call me if you need anything” He said with a grin before getting back into his car and driving away

Suho stared at the card for a moment.

“SZ construction company…CEO Schwartz Daniel” he read out loud before stuffing the card into his front pocket.

Luhan POV

“SO WHO IS READY TO PARTY?!” Sehun yelled from the top of the stairs.

The house was filled with kids from school and people Luhan had never seen before.

“WOOO!” they all screamed

Music was blasting loudly from the speaker, and beer was being passed around in great quantities

-Who bought beer?! Omg mom is going to murder us- he thought nervously

I went to look for Xiumin, and found him chatting away with some girl

“Hey Xiumin we need to do something” I pleaded, but Xiumin just shook his head and said it was alright.

He smelled a bit of alcohol, and I knew that probably Chanyeol or Sehun made him drink at least a few beers.

There was a loud crash from the living room, and I decided to go check it out leaving Xiumin with the girl.

One of the vases had completely shattered, but people didn’t seem to mind as they all spread the glass on the floor as they passed by.

-I’m going to go crazy I swear-

Luhan finally gave up and ran upstairs where he found Kai and Tao.

He knew they were both talking to mom, but Kai seemed to be arguing instead.

“Through what? My depression? My suicide attempts?” Kai said angrily

“Kai stop it” Luhan could feel his own anger rising, but the boy didn’t stop until he finally hung up.

“You…why are you being like this?” Luhan asked

“I think I’ll better go check on Chen and Baekhyun, God knows where they went” Tao said feeling the tense atmosphere and deciding it best to leave.

“Wait for me” Kai tried following Tao out, but Luhan stood in front of the open door, and in one movement closed it.

“You’re not going anywhere”

“Move Luhan”

“No”

Luhan stayed firmly planted in front of the door

“I said move!” Kai yelled at him and tried pushing him

“I’M NOT MOVING! GOD DAMMIT KAI WHY DO YOU ALWAYS HAVE TO ACT LIKE A VICTIM HERE?! DON’T YOU KNOW WE ALL MISS HIM? EVEN LAY MISSES HIM!” Luhan snapped, but then covered his mouth and his eyes widened

Kai starred at him blankly

“I’m…I’m sorry Kai I didn’t mean to..” Luhan began apologizing but Kai moved his hand up to silence him

“Don’t. I don’t want to hear you”

He pushed Luhan and slammed the door behind him angrily

Luhan’s heart felt like it was being crushed, and he prayed that his mom would come back soon before things really got out of hand.

Suho POV

Suho helped pass time by reading a book, he hoped that Kris would wake up soon so he could confirm that nothing too serious was going on before leaving.

He placed the book down on the table and sighted

“I’m so bored…”

There was a light knock on the door, and a red haired girl walked in with a vase of roses in her hands.

-Roses- Suho thought –I wonder if that’s his girlfriend?-

“Hello sir” the girl smiled widely “My name is Amy”

“Hello, Amy nice to meet you” Suho smiled back “I’m Kim Suho”

The girl froze and her smiled disappeared “Kim…Kim Suho?” she asked her eyes wide

Suho stared at her “Yes…why?”

“Oh nothing…” she looked down at the floor

“Are you perhaps Kris’s girlfriend?” Suho asked curiously

Amy looked up and smiled “Ah no no, I’m just his secretary. Well more like the one who takes calls and makes sure he actually goes to his appointments”

“Ah okay…” Suho wondered what to say, but Amy beat him to it

“Mr.Kim would you like to go downstairs and drink a coffee?” she asked

“Sure” Suho replied smiling

They both left, and made their way to the hospital’s cafeteria where they sat down in a table and drank coffee

“So Mr. Kim” the red head began with a serious tone “Would it be okay if I asked something?”

Suho looked up “Sure go ahead”

Amy bit her lip “Well it’s just that I’ve been working for Mr. Wu for two years now, and we actually became good friends…”

-Wait is she possibly asking me permission to date him? - Suho wondered

“I know it’s not my place, but I’ve actually grown fond of Mr. Wu because he’s the nicest person I know”

-Wait what- Suho choked on his coffee

“Are you okay sir?” Amy handed Suho some napkins

“I’m fine…please continue”

“Well…I’m not exactly sure what happened before, and I probably shouldn’t even say this, but I’m just happy that you’re here with him. Mr. Wu doesn’t really have anybody at the moment, and I’m the only person he talks to. I’m just worried because his drinking problem grew worse and his depression also…”

“Wait what?” Suho stared at Amy

“His depression” Amy looked at him confused “You didn’t know?” she asked

“Since when does Kris have depression? Is it serious?”

“Well, ever since I began working for him, he’s had to take anti depressants, but mixed with all the alcohol he consumes it’s just a time bomb. At first his depression was pretty serious, I mean he tried to kill himself several times, but it didn’t go as he planned.”

“HE TRIED TO KILL HIMSELF?!” Suho gasped

Amy nodded silently

“Wait how, I mean how did he try to do it?”

“Once he tried to jump in front of a train at the subway station, then he took pills mixed with alcohol, but luckily I went to his house to give him some papers that day and found him. If I’d been even a minute late he would have died.”

Suho took a moment to process the information

“What else did he do?”

“He doesn’t eat much, that’s why he has anemia and he got skinnier. Whenever he does eat, it’s because I force him to plus he overworks himself”

“Has he ever told you why he did all this?” Suho asked fearing he already knew the answer

Amy looked up concerned and made eye contact with Suho, her green eyes telling him that he knew the answer.

“He really misses the kids, and Mr. Kim I’m sorry to say this, but he still really does love you” she whispered, and watched as Suho’s expression became a mixture of hurt and realization.
