Reader POV

“Do you guys even know where we are going?” Tao asked concerned once they had arrived at the airport

Chen laughed, his dimple noticeable “Relax, what could possibly go wrong?”

“Well we could get lost in a city with thousands and thousands of people” Sehun joked

Tao rolled his eyes “Why did I ever agree to this”

People were coming in and out of the airport, and all ten of them just stood there not knowing where to go

“Uh so...” D.O. Said

“Hey guys I think we need to go that way” Chanyeol grabbed Luhan and began dragging the doe eyed boy in that direction. The rest followed behind, and a few girls stopped to stare.

“Omo they're so cute!”

“He's so tall and handsome!”

They all squished through the sudden crowd that began forming around them

Sehun smiled at a few girls, and they giggled frantically

“Hey stop that” Tao elbowed the blond

“Well it's not my fault that they like me”

They both laughed

After finally making their way through the crowd, all of them headed towards the double doors

It seemed like forever before they were finally able to board. All the meanwhile, Luhan held tightly onto Kai's arm because the doe eyed boy was frightened of heights.

“You okay?” Kai asked patting Luhan's head

The boy nodded “I'll be okay”

“You guys got any idea where we're going after we get there?” Xiumin asked concerned

All of them looked at each other, and simultaneously shook their heads “Nope. No idea”

Xiumin's jaw dropped “Then how are we going to find mom?!” he looked panicked

“Relax Ximuin! If we can't find mom, we can always party” Chanyeol smiled

“After all we're going to New York!” Lay backed him up

Xiumin and Luhan both shook their heads “Mom's going to murder us”

Suho POV

Kris took me to several places, and I had to admit that it was actually fun.

First we went to the movies, and watched not a scary movie, but a funny one.

I laughed so hard that soda almost came out to my nostrils and that was just embarrassing, but he didn't seem to mind, he just smiled at me.

Next, we went around the streets just walking into random shops and looking at things.

There was a beautiful bracelet. Similar to the one he'd given me some time ago, the one I'd thrown away and ended up regretting it later, and he actually ended buying it for me.

“Kris it's too expensive” I shook my head “I can't accept it”

He smiled “It's alright, here” Kris took my wrist, the one that Daniel had previously taken harshly, and slowly tied it around.

I smiled “Thank you”

We'd been looking around for about an hour before my stomach started growling so hard that I could feel my face turn red in embarrassment

Kris looked at me “Did you even eat breakfast?” he asked curiously

I shook my head remembering how I had been too busy...with Daniel...to even consider breakfast.

“Let's go eat something then” he said holding the door open for me

We both ended up at some fancy restaurant, but it seemed like it was extremely full.

Kris bit his lip, I suppose he was wondering where we could go, before I spotted a small restaurant nearby.

“We should go eat there” Suho offered pointing towards the red and yellow sign

Kris chuckled “McDonald's?” he asked amused

I nodded “Yeah why not”

“Sure let's go”

The food wasn't too bad, but all that mattered was the conversation that Kris and I were having. It had started off extremely awkward as we tried to catch up on the two whole years that we had been separated, but we ended up laughing a bit

“Luhan scored two goals at his soccer game, and I was so proud” Suho chanted while putting a fry into his mouth

“That's really good” Kris nodded “What about Sehun and Tao?” he asked curiously

Suho took a sip of soda “Well Sehun likes to flirt around, and Tao actually surprised me a bit because he seems to be into fashion lately”

“Ah okay” he smiled “What about you?”

“What about me?” Suho looked up from where he was busy eating more fries

“Well, what have you been up to rather than working at the company?”

Suho smiled “Well remember how I liked knitting back then?”

Kris nodded

“Well, I actually started taking classes, and I'm pretty good. Not to brag or anything”

I poked at the burger that was in front of me.

“That's really nice. I'm glad for you” he said

“Thank you”

The night continued like the. A nice conversation, and a few laughs. It was getting late before I remembered about the boys.

“I haven't called them at all” I looked frantically for my phone

Low battery

“” I hissed

Kris's eyes widened “Did you just?...”

I looked up at him and smiled “Oops...sorry”

He laughed “It's good, here just call them from my phone”

I took the small black phone, and dialed Sehun's number.

I shook my head, and dialed Luhan's number instead

“Okay what is going on?” Suho thought aloud knowing that something was totally not right

“Aren't they answering?” Kris asked

“Nope. Their phones are off”

“Well that's strange. Is there any other way you can reach them?”

Suho nodded suddenly remembering how Tao never logged off his Weibo account

He angrily began typing a message

You are all dead if you don't answer my calls! In fact, as soon as I see you boys...

“We should probably get going”Kris offered once they saw how it was getting dark outside

They walked outside, and got into Kris's car before the cell phone began to ring

“Hello?” Kris picked up

His jaw dropped “Lay?” he whispered before turning to look at Suho

Lay POV

“Hey dad...” Lay whispered, and everyone stared at him curiously

“Is he talking to...him?” he heard Baekhyun whisper to Chen

Tao shook his head, and looked out the window.

They had all gotten to a hotel, and checked themselves in before Tao saw the message on his account

There were several missed calls to their cellphone, but since it didn't seem to work here, they had used the phone inside their hotel room.

“Lay? Are you...are you?” Kris asked through the other line

“We're okay, but could you please tell mom that we sort of came to New York...it was all Sehun's idea, and we kind of got lost”

“HEY IT WASN'T JUST MY ID...” Sehun began to whine before Luhan covered his mouth with his hand

Lay told Kris where they were, or at least tried, before finally hanging up.

“What did he tell you?” D.O. Asked nervously

“They're on their way...mom sounded mad”

“Well it was nice knowing you guys” Baekhyun playfully played dead

Chen threw himself on top of Baekhyun, and they both rolled around the floor

“I thought New York was fun!” Luhan whined

Kai laughed “It is, but we just don't know where to go”

“Guys” Ximuin suddenly interrupted, and they all turned to look at him “Am I the only one who realized that both mom and dad are coming here...together”

Sudden realization hit them across the face

“Oh my God he's right” Chen said looking up from where he still had Baekhyun pined on the floor

About a whole hour passed before they heard a light knock on the door, followed by a very loud one

Sehun, Kai, and Luhan looked up from where they were sleeping, and stared as Xiumin walked towards the door and slowly opened it

“Well it was nice meeting you both” Sehun whispered as the door flew opened and their mom stormed in angrily followed by a worried looking Kris

“You all are in soooo much trouble!” he hissed

Luhan hid behind Kai, and they all turned to look at Sehun who was now standing there all by himself

“Especially you Sehun” mom said angrily

“They also planned it!” Sehun whined, but mom grabbed his arm and dragged him to the bathroom

“Guys help me!!!” Sehun yelled before the door closed

Lay couldn't help but chuckle a bit, but then noticed the man staring directly at him

“Hello boys” he said now looking at everyone else in the room

I stood up, and pushed my way outside. As much time had passed, I still couldn't forgive what he had done, not yet...possibly not ever.

“Lay” I heard a voice behind me, and I turned around only to find him standing there

“Can we...can we talk for a bit?” he asked

Lay Flashback

“Dad...can you...can you pick me up?”

There was a small silence and then “I'm a little busy Lay...where are you? Maybe I can send someone to pick you up” Kris replied

Lay looked down, and told him how he was in this abandoned building where gangs usually hung around “It's fine, I can just walk” he said

He could hear Kris sighting on the other line, and he didn't want to be more of a trouble than he already was

“It's fine dad I'll go walking” Lay whispered before hanging up.

He slowly stood up, but slid down again as the pain in his side proved difficult.

Lately, he had been getting in trouble at school for defending Luhan and Sehun from a few guys at school. Therefore, today when he was leaving school, a bunch of guys dragged him and beat him up here.

It began raining, and Lay just sat there letting the rain drench him completely

“Ah it hurts...” he whispered pressing his hand against his side

After a few minutes, he managed to stand up and began walking outside.

There was nothing in sight. No buses, cabs, or pretty much anything else.

He'd have to walk all the way home, or at least to the nearest bus stop before he passed out.

And he knew that he would indeed pass out because the pain was unbearable

Lay was only able to give a few step before he felt his knees buckle beneath him, and he began falling down but someone catched him just in time.

It was his dad, and he was also getting drenched in rain even thought he was wearing the expensive suit that he'd bought recently.

“Lay! Hey look at me” he said, and his face was filled with concern

Lay weakly looked up

“Come on I'll take you to the hospital” he said suddenly carrying Lay up. It was a bit difficult for the blonde man because Lay did weight a bit, but he managed to put him safely in the back seat.

He had stayed with him all that night, before leaving because they needed him at work. However the next morning he had come back to check on him, and even gone to the police to report the guys who had done it.

“I don't care who the heck they are! They did this to my son, and don't think I won't use all my power to make sure those boys get what they deserve” Kris had yelled at the police officer

Lay bit his lip nervously, and at the same time tried not to cry. He had to act though because he was usually the cheerful one amongst his brothers, but just seeing someone defend him for the first time made his heart feel like it was breaking.

It had been extremely difficult for him before Kris and Suho decided on adopting them because everyone would immediately think that Lay was some kind of gang member. They would all avoid him, and even whisper behind his back, but now seeing how his dad continued to argue with the officer about how he was innocent really made him realize just how lucky he was to have such amazing parents. Especially such an amazing father like Kris.

Kris POV (Present)

Lay was avoiding looking up at me, and it made it a bit awkward to talk without expecting an answer.

“Everything I did...I'm sincerely sorry, and I'd do anything to prove just how sorry I am”

He finally looked up

“You don't need to prove anything to me, but if you're thinking of getting back with mom...” he began, and Kris bit his lip thinking that Lay would absolutely refuse at the idea of him and Suho getting back together

“...Then just know that I'll be defending mom, and if you do anything. Anything at all then I won't let you off easy” he said

I looked up surprised and shocked at how Lay was looking at me. He didn't seem angry anymore, more like careful.

Kris nodded “I won't do anything” he replied trying to keep his excitement under control

Lay walked towards him “Well I guess all that is left, is for you to convince the other nine” he smiled lightly, and Kris could see his dimple

He began walking away towards the hotel room where the rest of the boys were peaking curiously at them thinking that neither Kris or Lay could notice them, but then turned and with another light smile and added “And dad...I'm sorry for punching you before”

Kris smiled back “I deserved it” he said

Lay turned around, but in a low chuckle whispered “Oh no...you deserved more than that”
