Chapter 2: Battle

“Hyung, I’m up for another battle again.” He said to the person on the other line.

“Tell me in a more detailed information, I’m outside of your room now” Onew, his cousin said then they ended their phone call.

“Tell me, why are you outside of my condo at this time?” he asked

“I accompanied Luna to hers, since you both have the same building, I decided to visit you” he answered

“How sweet of that hyung! Now tell me, what happened? Why did it end up like that? Is there something I need to know?” he asked smirking

“Nothing! We just went out for dinner. That’s it! Now tell me why are you up for another battle, Mr. Choi?” he asked and sat down, Minho sighed and started explaining.

“My father’s not giving up! He brought another person to help me. Why is he so desperate?” he said, Onew’s face became serious

“Minho, he’s not giving up because you’re the only person who can continue his dream, his dream to build the company you have right now. He’s desperate not just because he wants you to take over his dream, he’s desperate because he wants you to change, forget about the past and move on.” He said seriously, Minho just listened carefully, still trying to absorb Onew’s words

“What did he say about the “new opponent”?” he added with an emphasis on “new opponent”

“He said she’s different, and I also heard him murmur “she’s not an easy opponent either” “ he said

“Looks like your father chose a great person this time. I mean why don’t you give it a try just for once?” Onew asked

“You know me, I don’t play an easy game and I would never be.” He said

“Aissh, this Choi! Okay, tell me details about her.” He asked

“Well, as far as I know, her name is Sulli, the daughter of Mr. Choi Minjeong.” He said and Onew’s eyes widen in shock.

“Sulli, you mean Choi Jinri as what others call her?” he asked in total disbelief, Minho was confused on why Onew is acting this way.

“I guess so, I heard her brothers calling him Jin once in the dinner a while ago. But wait hyung, why are you acting this way? Is there something about her?” he asked

“You don’t know?!??!?” he asked

“Yeah! I don’t even know her, my father just introduced her a while ago. What is it hyung?!?!?” he said in panic

“She’s the high school valedictorian of Seoul Girl’s High School and she garnered the highest percentage of all the valedictorians in their history! And do you know that she is Mr. Choi’s mistress’ daughter? ” he said, Minho stayed at his place, totally shocked on what his hyung said

 “But hyung, how did you know all about this? I don’t even know that Mr. Choi has a mistress…” he asked, still in disbelief of what he said

“Luna! She’s a teacher in that school and she once told me that Sulli always seek her for advice and stories, she treated her as a sister perhaps and I also met her on Pepero Day this year when I surprised Luna at school, she seems nice too” he said

“I see….” Was the only words that came out from his mouth.

“I’m telling you Minho, Sulli is totally different. Your father chose someone great to help you this time. Trust me. And I know that she had gone through a lot, and I know you did too….." he said in a serious tone.

"How can you say so?" he asked

"Well, I've heard some stories from Luna and I can say that she is one tough girl. She never lets her problems be the hindrance to her success, just look at her now. She's different, I'm telling you. My instincts were never been wrong, you should try trusting you father again, this is a different battle, Minho." he answered

"I'll try to. But wait your instincts were never been wrong? How true is that? You said in just a few months, Luna would answer you but what is happening now? Hahaha I'm just kidding hyung! I guess you're tired now? Thanks for the time and information!" he said

"Yeah, I need to go now. I have a presentation early in the morning! Good luck Minho, I hope this would be the last battle you’ll experience to conquer your past, okay?” he said as he left Minho’s condo.

Meanwhile, Minho is still wondering, probably thinking about Sulli the whole night.

“Who are you exactly, Choi Sulli? Why do you look so different from the others?”

“Am I too much to think you’re different? I mean I’m not the only one, Onew-hyung thinks too. Everyone does actually.”

“What’s the big deal of helping me? There must be a reason …”

The next day, Minho still can’t stop thinking about Sulli, it was weird he’s thinking about her since last night. He only got back to reality when he received a text from no other than, his father.

“Minho, please go to N Seoul Tower and look for Sulli. I planned a dinner date for you both. Have fun!”

Minho’s face turned cold after seeing his father’s text but something inside feels confused/mixed emotions to be exact. He just found himself dragging his body to the shower, he took a quick shower and he put on his sweater and topped it with a wool coat.
