Suzy jolted awake, sweat coating her body. It was one more of those dreams she couldn’t explain. She took a few breaths to calm herself before pushing the covers off. Eagerly, she walked towards the front door.  She opened it to find her expected present waiting.

Over the past week, she woke up every day to a single tulip on her doorsteps. She thought it was a mere coincidence the first day, and yet was doubtful at the long stream and beautiful colour. As it kept happening, Suzy became excited to wake up every day to the perfect flower.

Seung gi didn’t know if he should be relieved that they decided to give him a chance of living, or distressed for the type of life they were going to experience. ‘We can’t let go of him’ they told him.

That night he couldn’t sleep. He wondered if he was being selfish. He wanted her to fight, but what if he was sentencing her to a life of struggling and pain? What if she’d be happiest living the remaining time she has doing the things she loves? It wasn’t right to promise her a life he couldn’t give.

---

The next morning, he carried on his routine of visiting the florist, and then leaving a single tulip at her doorsteps. He then drove to the hospital.

Min young was supposed to have the surgery in three weeks. He could imagine his parents feel utmost agony. He hoped he’d be
