The next day as he waked into her room, he was greeted by the sight of her laughing with an album in hand. For some reason his heart felt warm at her peaceful posture and the pure delight in her eyes. Her eyes brightened as she looked at him. He smiled back, something he found himself unintentionally doing whenever he sees her, even though he had a very serious subject to talk to her about.

“Good morning, doctor”

“Good morning, miss” he walked closer. “I need to talk to you”

“Are you breaking up with me?” she exclaimed before chuckling.

 “I’m serious…”

“I’m sorry doctor, what is it?”

“Well, I wanted to present you… the options”

“Options?”

“The treatment. So far the best one would be surgery, we’ll try to extract the tumour. It’s going to be dangerous…but if it’s successful, it is the most certain one, you know…to heal you” he watched as her eyes fell

“I will think about it”

“You’ll have to fast. It’s a primary tumour so it’s not likely to spread to other regions. But its effect on your nervous system might be too…”

“Doctor” she interrupted.

He looked at her in anticipation. “Yes?”

“I understand, really”

They were quiet after that as he continued checking on her.  She was slightly surprised at how gentle he was.
