Chapter Six
Behind Enemy Lines
"I just...I don't know what to do...." Tao ran a shaking hand through his now messy hair as he paced back and forth. "I don't even know how they found her..."
"Are you at the Cabin?" Gikwang asked. Tao nodded and gulped.
"Yes. But...I...I failed Gikwang, I let her out of my sight." Tao said, running a hand over his face while he spoke into the Bluetooth. Gikwang sighed.
"Zitao, you did not fail. You are not a failure!" Gikwang said genuinely. "Things like mistakes may happen during missions, and quite frankly, I've given you the roughest most dangerous mission on the entire squad." Tao let out a sigh. "Where is Hyuna right now?"
Tao turned over to see Hyuna lay sprawled out on the couch. "Right in front of me on the couch." Tao let out another sigh. "I'm lost here, Gikwang! I don't know what to do with her! I can't take her to the hospital that's gotta be at least five or more hours away and if I take her there they can easily find her and get to her and I....Gikwang, she's not going to make it. We're losing time! She's fading." Tao swallowed hard as he looked over to Hyuna.
"Zitao we don't think like that on missions." Gikwang said. Tao sighed. "What's going on now? How long has it been since the stabbing? She's back in the cabin, correct?"
"Yes. I told you she's on the couch. It's been nearly 30 minutes. I've done the best I could, Gikwang. I've got her bandaged up pretty good just so the bleeding would slow down or even better, so it would stop. But I just...I don't know how long she's going to hold on. She's really weak right now." Tao said. Gikwang nodded.
"Remain calm, Tao. I've already dispatched some help." He said as Tao shook his head.
"No...She can't wait that long." Tao argued. "She's fading fast, Gikwang. She's losing colour and she's cold." Tao said, feeling her face. Hyuna looked around helplessly. Everything kept coming in and out of focus in her vision. She was beginning to shake as well.
"Well, you need to try!" Gikwang said. "She will make it, Zitao! We will not let them win! You will complete this mission even if it this missions takes up 30 years!"
Tao nodded in agreement. "I'll do the best I can, Gikwang. I promise. I won't let you down." Tao looked to Hyuna who was whimpering and whining in pain. "But I don't know if there's much that anyone can do for her. She's bleeding really bad and it was a knife, Gikwang. It could've cut or torn something in her stomach."
"It might not've gone that far, Tao." Gikwang said. Tao sighed. "If you need anything else you contact me. Help is being sent by a helicopter and some cars. Good luck, Tao." Tao took a deep breath and kneeled down in front of Hyuna. He looked to her hands that were bloody, he swallowed and then forced a smile and looked at her. She looked back at him, trying desperately to focus on him. He was as clear as day light but the surroundings were fuzzy, which made him stand out quite a bit. Tao noticed her eyes fading.
"Hold on, Hyuna." He said. Her breathing was shaky and it rattled, proving to him that she was going to day if help wasn't there within the next 78 hours. "Help is coming and they're going to make you all better. You just have to stay awake. No sleeping." Hyuna knew that would be hard but easy. Hard because she was very tired but easy because she knew she couldn't sleep, she was in way to much pain. Hyuna nodded stiffly.
"I don't know you." Hyuna said quietly, fighting her sudden death that was lurking around the corner. Tao looked at her. "Tell me about you. Your family. Your friends." Tao nodded and cleared his throat.
"My Mom died in 9/11." He said. She frowned. He swallowed hard. "My Dad...he was a professional bull rider. One day he got seriously injured and could never go back on and then one day he got into an accident and died instantly." He said. "My brother, Suho, he just got married a few years ago and his wife had a baby last year. My nephew. His name is Taeyeob. But I wanted to help people ever since the attack in 9/11 I wanted to help save someone and when I was a kid, my brother and I, we use to act like agents and spies..." Tao laughed. "So...It stuck with me. The second I finished high school I trained for the CEO."
"Do you ever see your brother at all?" Hyuna gasped slightly as she struggled for air. She wasn't officially suffocating but it was getting harder for her to breathe now. Tao smiled sadly and shook his head.
"No...I use to see him all the time. But now we just write each other." He explained. Hyuna nodded. Tao then began to talk to Hyuna about his friends.
