*phone rings*

— She wakes up from her deep sleep to the sound of the personalized ringtone. Had it been anyone else, she would have ignored them. But, it wasn’t just anyone; it was him. She grabbed her phone and answered the call.

Girl: *grunts*

Boy: Good, you’re awake! Come outside.

Girl: *looks at the clock* Oh, my God! It’s 4 in the morning, Hoseok! I’m going back to sleep.

H: Oh, come on, Jules! Please! You’re already awake anyway. Come outside. I have big news

J: I hate you so much right now.

H: No, you don’t!

— She really didn’t. If anything, she loved his spontaneity. She puts on a sweatshirt and shoes then steps outside of her apartment expecting him to be waiting in the corridor. That jerk literally meant outside. She makes her way down the stairs, through the lobby, and then out through the main entrance of the building. She sees him waiting for her, which puts a smile on her face. She remembers to hide it quickly before he sees her.

J: This better be good, Hoseok. If you made me come all the way down here for nothing, I’m going to punch you…in the face.

— He gets closer to her and holds her wrists down to stop her fists…just in case.

H: I signed the contract with Big Hit Entertainment last night.

J: Are you serious? Congratulations!

— She hugged him tight and they jumped up and down together in excitement. Once they stopped jumping, she freed him from her hug. *punch* He rubs his arm in pain.

J: This could have waited another 3 hours, you know?

H: I was going to wait, but I couldn’t sleep.

J: So you decided that we should suffer together?

H: Pretty much. Come on.

— He puts his arm around her shoulders and leads her to the park near her building. It has always been their favorite place to go at night. They head straight for the swings and take one each.

J: Since you’re going to start training soon, does that mean I’m not going to see you much anymore?

H: I guess. Don’t worry. I’ll come over and bug you on my free days. I promise. I really don’t think I can make it too long without my best friend.

— She smiles on the outside; but inside, the words sting like a whip to her heart. Best friends. That’s all they are; but she has always wished for more.
