Hyewon’s POV

         “C’mon, hide!”

         Nam Woohyun suddenly said taking me by my hand as he hid us in a small alley. I stared at him frowning as he glanced at me putting a finger on his lips to make me silence. I kneeled down behind him to hide me better.

         He didn’t know the guys who were a few steps from us but I guessed he could notice they were the ones we were looking for. I cleared my ear as I listened they were talking about grandpa.

         “We have to do something with that old man because if we let him go, he’s going to all. Yang Seungho’s girlfriend is not going to get what she wants.” One of them said, with a harsh tone and a hoarse voice.

         “So, what are we going to do?” Other one said and this one sounded younger.

         “For now, we’re going to give a cuff to that stupid grandpa. Let’s go!” The owner of the hoarse voice said first, as I assumed he was the leader.

         As they spoke, I got up and tried to go after them as they were already walking away, getting more into the alley. But Nam Woohyun grabbed my wrist and made me sat back next to him.

         “Do you want to die? Where are you going?” He looked at me widening his eyes, almost screaming whispering.

         “I’m following them, keep your hands off!” I tried to release my hand but his grip was stronger.

         “You think you will be able to stop them just alone?” He said almost shouting and concerned as much as I was.

         “Maybe not but I can’t stay sitting here with my arms crossed while I know that they’re doing who knows what to harabeoji and it’s my fault!” I shouted and tried once more to release my hand but I couldn’t.

         “I’m not telling you to stay with arms crossed just you’re not going to help in anything and you’ll get killed both.” He almost scolded me but it didn’t feel like that, it felt more like he was… trying to protect me.

         “Well, then, what you say we should do?” I said staring at his hand on my wrist and he released it, probably knowing that I’d not try to run away after the gangsters.

         “Let’s call the police.”

         I scoffed. “Definitely rich kids are always fool, right? Don't be ridiculous, Nam Woohyun. They won’t do anything. If you don't want to come, don’t do it. I’m going alone.” I got up and as I walked out the small rage of the alley he had taken me into, Nam Woohyun got up immediately maybe trying to stop me again but when I saw where they were, there was no one, so I stopped, feeling helpless. Nam Woohyun stayed behind me and grabbed me by my wrist again.

         “Kang Hyewon-ssi, don't be so stubborn. Let’s call the police.” He said with that voice again, the soft voice that made me feel awkward around him.

         “And what are we going to tell halmeoni, that harabeoji is in a serious trouble because of my fault? I can’t even say the real reason!” I knew I was losing control but I couldn’t stop myself, I was too nervous that someone else would pay for my errors.

         “Let’s go home, I’ll take care of it.” He said after scratching his head. I knew he couldn’t do anything but so couldn’t I. And that was even more frustrating.

         “Kang Hyewon-ssi, everything will be okay, hmm?” He said when we arrived the building after having been silent all the way. I looked at him and saw his smirking face but I couldn’t smile back. I just nodded slightly, just not to appear ruder.

         We arrived to halmeoni’s department and stayed in the door for awhile. Nam Woohyun stared at me intently as if wanting to ask me something but the question never came so he just knocked on the door and halmeoni opened with a bigger smile than she had when we left. I couldn’t help but have a sad gaze but I got shocked when we went in. Grandpa —whom we believed was trapped by some vandals— was there with her, waiting for us.

         “Harabeoji!” I couldn’t help but shout happily and go where he was. “Are you okay? Have something happened to you? Did they hurt you or something?” I hugged him tight.

WooHyun’s POV

         As we walked, I saw some guys a few steps from us who looked very suspicious as I took Kang Hyewon and hid her behind me in an alley. The guys were saying something about a grandfather and a girl, whom I guessed was Kang Hyewon. She was listening quietly to what the guys were saying and when they were gone, she got up and tried to follow them as her instinct. If I didn’t stop her, probably something very bad would have happened. I made her realize of the fatal error that she would commit and she surrendered quite resigned for not going after them.

         As we were returning back home, we were walking in silent. I thought why those guys referred to Kang Hyewon as Yang Seungho’s girlfriend. Who was that guy? Was he her boyfriend? If she h
