A Mermaid's Tear
Narrator’s pov:
It was just any other day in the year.
Nothing special.
Except maybe the heavy rain that was pouring down from the dark sky.
The waves of the sea were bigger and stronger.
But under those waves was someone swimming.
It was dark because of the rain and you could hardly see anything under those dark blue waves.
But that didn’t meant that there was nothing under it.
A big turquoise colored tail was moving under it.
Long slender arms and wavy hair moved with the big fish like tail.
Her eyes darted here and there and she looked up, waiting for the rain to stop.
“Neela.”
The said person turned around, her turquoise colored tail moving together with her.
“Marina.” Neela smiled softly as her best friend swam to her.
“You’re going to the surface again?” Marina asked, careful with her words, afraid that she might hurt her friend’s feelings.
Neela smiled again and nodded her head, humming softly.
“Yes…” she whispered and her fingers automatically went to the necklace hanging around her neck, playing with those mini pearls that formed a sol key.
“Neela…” Marina said, her expression sad. “It’s been years already.” Marina whispered.
Neela nodded, her lips still curled up in that soft smile of hers.
“Do you know why that mermaid disappeared?” Neela asked, referring to the one of the old story she heard years ago.
Marina shook her head.
“Because she fell in love. She discovered that she had feelings for a human.” Neela answered the question, almost muttering it.
Marina’s face fell because she knew that her best friend had feelings for a human male.
“I see…” said Marina, who swam closer to Neela.
