Donghae found a quiet spot by the corner of the café. Like Dara, he was thankful that not a lot of customers were around. He tapped his foot continuously. Am I really ready to meet her? What was I thinking? He was lost in his own thoughts when he heard footsteps approaching his direction. It must be the waiter.

“Donghae.” She croaked.

Donghae stood up and spun around. And there she was. His best friend standing right before his eyes.

“Dara” he whispered.

It was a very awkward moment for the two. Both, did not have a single idea on what they were going to do next.

“Sit down.” Donghae ushered his best friend to her seat. She took baby steps and kept her gaze on the floor.

“I watched you today.” Donghae said casually whilst flicking through the café menu.

Dara lifted her gaze to her best friend.

“Why didn’t you tell me you were an artist?”

“Mianhe, Donghae.” She whispered.

Donghae rolled his eyes. He was getting impatient. “Why did you leave Dara?” He said in a serious tone.

Dara knew he was beyond angry but never did she expect that he would cut straight to the point.

“Ah, um… I wish I could explain things to you Donghae.” She said nervously.

“You have plenty of time right now.” He crossed his arms in front of his chest as he waited for her to speak.

Dara kept her head down and remained silent. This wasn’t how she pictured it at all.

Donghae sighed in frustration. “I would appreciate it if you could at least open up to me Dara. Do you know how hard it was for me to accept that you were gone? I looked everywhere for you and even begged for you to come back. I tried to contact you but you never returned any of my calls. I’m still angry at you Dara.” He snapped.

Dara kept her head down not knowing what to say. She acknowledges her mistake and knew that her best friend is hurting and in all honesty, she hates herself for what she has done.

“It was nice to see you again.” Donghae stood up.

He was about to walk out of the café when Dara grabbed hold of his wrist. It took him by surprise. Her hand was extremely warm and soft.

“I can explain. I’m sorry for the trouble I’ve caused you.” Dara whispered.

Donghae refused to look at her and focused his gaze outside the café window.

“I didn’t return any of your calls because I was extremely busy working 3 jobs. The ahjumma kicked us out for not paying rent on time.” She said sadly.

Donghae took a deep breath and somehow, he is relieved to know that his best friend is finally telling him the truth.

“I’m mad at myself for running away. But I had to work in order to help appa and omma. I left school because I didn’t want to become a burden to you after what Jiyong did to me. I didn’t want people to talk about you. I’m sorry for being a horrible best friend.” Dara sniffed.

Donghae kneeled on the floor.

“Dara” he gently tugged at her hand.

“I’m sorry, I’m sorry.” She stuttered as tears started to fall from her eyes.

He cupped her face and caressed his thumbs over her cheeks. Slowly, he wiped her tears away.

 “Shhhh. It’s okay. Hey look at me.” He tilted her head so that she’s staring right to his face. “You’re still my best friend.” Donghae smiled.

Dara pulled him into a tight hug. “I’m so sorry Donghae.”

He smiled as he rested his head on her shoulder. He took a whiff of her heavenly scent and grinned even more. Donghae definitely missed his best friend. However, their reunion was interrupted by the loud rumbling of Donghae’s stomach.

Dara furrowed her brows and pulled out from their hug. She looked at her best friend.

“That wasn’t me.” Donghae held his hands up in the air as if he was innocent.

“Liar.” Dara giggled as she wiped her tears away. She then grabbed the plastic bag that was resting below her feet.

“Dara?” Donghae eyed the bag curiously.

 “Here.” She pulled out the food containers one by one.

“What is it?” He got up the floor and sat across the table from her.

“Aish. Open it.” She beamed as she pushed the containers forward.

Donghae’s eyes grew wide as he took a sniff of the container. That smell. He smiled.

“Eat up!” Dara clapped her hands.

She told Donghae about everything whilst Donghae listened to her story whole-heartedly.

“I’m glad we’re patched things up.” Donghae mumbled through a mouthful of food.

Dara held his hand. “I missed you oppa.”

Donghae squeezed it and went straight back to eating.

Dara couldn’t help but giggle at her best friend’s silliness. He must be really hungry.

They got engaged into their conversation for hours..  

Dara checked her watch. 2:47 am. “Omo!”

Donghae looked at her. “What’s wrong?”

“My manager must be going mad. I told him I wouldn’t take that long. Ottoke!” She continuously flicked her forehead.

Donghae laughed at her cuteness. “Babo! I’m sure he wouldn’t mind.”

“I better go.” Dara stood up.

“Get plenty of rest neh?” Donghae ruffled her hair.

She nodded and pulled him into another hug. “Kamsahamnida. Let’s hang out soon arasso?” She smiled.

“Arasso. Don’t work too hard. I’ll be monitoring you closely.”

“I won’t. Get home safely neh? I’ll text you tomorrow.” Dara pulled out from their hug and kissed his left cheek. “Good bam!” after that she made her way out of the café and thanking the staff for their hospitality.

The staff couldn’t help but feel giddiness inside their bodies. They believe that they just saw a scene out of a drama.

Donghae placed his hand where Dara kissed it a minute ago. A wide smile plastered on his face. She was still the same old Dara.

Dara was puffing slightly as she reached the van. She opened the door and was surprised to see her manager sleeping peacefully. She felt guilty for not keeping her promise. Dara didn’t want to cause any more trouble therefore, she decided that she would drive the van over to her dorm.

Driving would have to be Dara’s hobby. She was taught by her vocal teacher during her trainee days and prefers to drive big cars rather than smaller ones.

After 15 minutes of driving down the streets of Seoul, she finally reached her dorm.

“Oppa.” She whispered. Jjangmae wouldn’t budge so Dara shook him.

Jjangmae rubbed his eyes. “Dara? Are you ready to go?”

“We’re already here oppa.” She smirked.

“Yah! You drove again didn’t you? How many times do I have to tell you-“

“I didn’t want to wake you up opp. Besides there wasn’t’ any traffic and I knew where I was going.” She reasoned out.

“Arasso. Go get some sleep. I’ll pick you up at 9. Don’t be late.” Jjangmae yawned.

Dara nodded and thanked her manager. As soon as she got into her dorm, she leaned against the door and quickly thought of the things that have happened in a span of a day. She smiled. This would have to be the BEST day EVER.
