Taeyang gripped my hand as I helped him lay down on his bed.

Tears formed on the sides of his eyes.

He breathed weakly.

His suffering was unbearable

I was about to turn around to hide my tears.

But Taeyang caught my hand and pulled me back to face him.

The sides of his lips slowly curved upward as his tears rolled down to his ears.

It was somehow a usual scene to komo, Cloe, T.O.P, and me.

But we could never get used to it.

It was always too painful for us.

“Cousin,” his voice cracked…

“Waeyo? Does anything hurt!?” I asked worriedly…

He pouted.

I got the message.

He has been doing that often lately.

Pouting means, ‘I’m okay so please stop worrying.’

I forced a smile and nodded.

A week after the reunion party, Taeyang’s disease showed up again.

At first we thought he would get better just like the last time this happened to him.

But 2 months passed and his condition did not improve.

We decided to go for Bone Marrow Transplant.

According to his doctor, it was his only chance to survive. : (

Before the operation, he was required to undergo chemotherapy.

This is his sixth month of undergoing chemo.

The therapy was aiming to kill the cancer cells in his system,

But it was slowly killing Taeyang’s whole body as well...

He was in so much pain.

I could see that, but even though I could see everything,

I don’t really know how painful it really is.

He cries out loud sometimes.

We know he wants to stop it.

He wants to end all these and just live the remaining months,

weeks or days of his life like he normally did before.

Most of all, he wanted to be a husband to

his wife even with just the time that God would permit him to have.

But then he thinks about us and knows that we don’t want him to go.

He knows that we’d rather suffer with him in this than let him go in a month, a week, or a day.

No!

We wouldn’t let that happen!

Komo, Cloe, T.O.P and me took shifts so that Taeyang would never be left alone in his hospital room.

But of course Cloe was the one who was always beside him.

She didn’t rest for a week, and now she looks so pale and thin.

So I asked her to rest even just for the day and told her I’d take care of my cousin…
