I laid still as the sound of Chaerin's heartbeat slowly sped up. Since the day of the fight, her heart rate has changed immensely around me. I had to let her win, she's a girl. It'd look bad if I didn't. Lately, she's been staying in my room. I don't know how long it takes the maids in this house to wash the damn sheets, but I'm starting to suspect that she's purposely staying here in bed with me.

It's a full moon. Her night terrors are starting again. "Omma..." Her voice trailed off in her sleep. I shifted uneasily as her heart beat even quicker than before. "Omma. Don't go." Her screams increased in volume. I know what's going to happen next. The transformation. She's going to turn into a demon mutt again.

Cries soon turned to growls. I jumped off the bed and turned to face her. Immediately scanning for signs of change, I noticed her claws growing out. "Jinyoung-ah." She gasped between growls. Her fur began to grow as her snout lengthened. I'm not letting her get out this time, she could hurt someone. Or worse, she could hurt herself. I don't know why I care about her, we just have something connecting us. Somewhat of a strong mutual bond. I can't explain it.

Thinking quickly, I jumped over the bed, landing in the same side as Chaerin. She snapped at me, causing me to jump back a bit. I tried to think of a way to bind her without hurting her. Blessed with my speed, I quickly flashed behind her. Being a fox mixed demon, her predatorial instincts were also very fast. She spun quickly, nipping me in the arm as she did so. I felt the warm blood pour down my arms, dripping rhythmically to the floor. Breathing to the rhythm of my blood splashing on ground, I cleared my mind. My stomach tightened into a knot. I'm distracted. I should be faster. Why do I feel like this? My chest tightened. Relax, Jinyoung. Think clearly. This is just like any other hunt. You do it all the time. Except it's not any other hunt. It's Chaerin. And I don't want to hurt her. Are these feelings?

The entire time I was standing there, I watched her lash at me. Of course I dodged. Even with the injured arm, she can't seem to catch up to me. I tried what I was going to do again. Moving faster, I flashed behind her. Holding her arms down, I clutched her tightly, wrapping my arms around her. My grip on her tightened. "Chaerin! Snap out of it!" She howled. "Chaerin. Please. You need to take control. I know you're human side is stronger." She seemed to be calming down. "Please."

Just when I thought she had relaxed, I heard a loud female scream. It couldn't have been far, maybe five or six miles away. I have sensitive hearing, so I heard it loud and clear. Chaerin must have heard it, too. She returned to her animalistic state, throwing me off of her. She then jumped out of the window, myself following.

We ran for a bit. Not long, considering I'm super fast and she's a dog. I can tell by direction that she's leading me to the source of the scream. We found ourselves at a park, but the girl was nowhere to be found. Chaerin pointed her snout in the air, sniffing for human scent. "Sense anything?" She growled. It feels weird talking to her like a dog, but that's the only way she'd respond.

She scratched at the ground, following a trail. I kept close behind her, just watching. How did we go from fighting to co-op so quickly? Maybe I should've brought a leash. I couldn't help but smirk at the thought of me holding Chaerin on a leash. She turned and snarled at me, baring her canine teeth. "What? You can read my thoughts?" She snorted and continued on her route. That's strange, she doesn't show that she's telepathically linked with me during the day. Maybe her powers are at full extent in wolf form. If only she could control it...

My observations were rudely cut off by yet another scream, this time, much closer. Chaerin pounced into a shrub, wrestling with something. What? I don't need to help, it's just a bush. She could handle it.

After a minute of beast vs. bush, Chaerin climbed out, bloody scraps of clothing hanging from her fangs. I heard the scream relaying and scratching every so often. "Hey, girl. What do you have there? Come here. Who's a good girl? Who's a good girl?" I coaxed her into approaching me. Slowly at first, then fastening her pace. Finally reaching me, she dropped whatever was clenched between her teeth and sat down obediently. I petted her and laughed. "Why can't you be this obedient all the time? I think I like this version of you, Chaerin." She my hand as I picked up the item she dropped.

"That's weird..." I muttered as I picked it up. There was something wrapped in the bloody cloth. I removed the ripped up shirt and revealed a tape recorder, chewed up, courtesy of Chaerin's fangs. The scream played again, except much more distorted now. "Who would want to fake an attack?" I pondered about this for a while. That is, until I sensed something.

I instantly turned my head, only to meet a mouth full of sharp fangs, wide open and breathing into my face. "Ugh. Tic tac?" I joked, but obviously, this isn't funny. I started feeling light-headed after it breathed into my face. I couldn't even get a clear look at the thing before I hit the ground. The more I strained, the worse my vision blurred.

The last thing I saw before blacking out was the thing fighting with her. "Chaerin..." I gasped. And then, it went dark.
