Eun-Mi’s Omma

The door was slightly open and for the last few hours, every time I walked past her room I saw him looking at her with loving eyes. What mother wouldn’t smile when seeing their daughters so at peace. He just laid there watching her sleep not moving an inch afraid she’d wake up.

I couldn’t help but to think of when I was her age and met her dad. It was all replaying in front of me.

Later that evening as I stood in the hallway watching them say good bye I could see how it hurt them both. It hurt them more than anything else. As soon as he left she just went straight into her room. I knocked and walked in.

- Eun-Mi, it’s dinner.

- I’m not hungry…

She laid in her bed smelling the pillow he had used, I sat down next to her her hair.

- What are you doing this weekend?

- Nothing…

- Really? That’s so odd…

She looked at me confused.

- I’m just so sure you told me you were spending the whole weekend with Seung-Hyun… Ah, I’m getting old. I was so sure of you saying that you wouldn’t be home for the whole weekend. Aigo… And I had planned a dinner with some of my friend… Aish…

She looked at me and her jaw dropped.

- You’re saying…?

I looked at her and smiled.

- But dad won’t ever allow it…

The spark in her eyes died when she quickly realized the reality.

- I’m so sure I told him you were spending the weekend with Min-Hee. Aigo, your omma is becoming so confused.

She smiled and laughed.

- Is this okay?

- Is what okay? You spending the weekend with Min-Hee, oh it will be perfectly fine. I’ll tell your dad.

- Thank you thank you thank you!

She basically attacked me with a hug.

- Omma… I love you.

- Aigo, this young girl. Are you sure you don’t want some dinner?

- I’m a bit hungry…

- Hm?

My husband was half asleep.

- Eun-Mi is spending the whole weekend with Min-Hee! How exciting huh?! She won’t be home so I invited some of our friends for dinner.

- That’s great yeobo… Do you want me to buy something?

- Oh, don’t worry yeobo.

- Have you talked to Min-Hee’s mother? He mumbled.

- Oh yeah, they’re just as excited.

- That’s… that’s great yeobo, he mumbled.
