Now and Then: Our Existence
“Haru-chan! Are you done packing?” Your eomma called out from downstairs.
“Nae eomma~! I’m almost done!” You replied.
Finally. We’re moving to South Korea.
I, Sasaki Haruka aka Kim Hyerin, 16 years old, am half-Korean/Japanese. I’ve always wanted to go to Korea even when I was little. Also, ever since the Hallyu wave hit Japan, I’ve been more enthusiastic about going to Korea. My family was moving because my dad got transferred overseas and that just happened to be South Korea. Seoul at that!
You see, my mom is Korean. She met my dad, who is Japanese, while she worked here in Japan as an intern nurse. They understood each other, language-wise, since my dad worked as a businessman for a big company that required him to learn other languages for transactions and such; while my mom had Japanese lessons when she was younger.
