Rose: part 3

DaeHyo one-shots. [Daehyun and Hyosung]

     Leaving behind the school garden, the one place she felt the calmest and most safe at, Hyosung made her way to Daehyun’s house. She wanted, no, more like ‘needed’, an explanation.

It’s been two days since his kiss with Jieun in the library. Two days of Hyosung putting on a fake act around everyone. Two days of Hyosung acting like she knew nothing about her boyfriend and friend cheating on her. Two days of Himchan always being by her side. Two days of pure hell.

“I’m so stupid. I should’ve known he didn’t love me anymore...” she mumbled to herself, looking up at the starless sky where she spotted the moon. It’s radiance attracting her full attention.

“What do you think I should do, moon? I’m confused and torn. I don’t know what to do,” Hyosung clutched her hand near her chest, her eyes still staring at the moon. “I... Am I doing the right thing?” she pondered out loud.

A couple of girls that passed her, gave her weird looks. They probably thought she was a psychopath, but Hyosung didn’t care - really. All she cared about, at the moment, was to see Daehyun.

She was ready to confront him. She was ready to end it all if she had to - no matter what the case was, she was ready. She wanted all the pain to come at once so that she’ll deal with it all together.

     Ding, Dong

The sound of the doorbell sent a chill down Hyosung’s back.

She was standing on Daehyun’s front porch, her hand rested on the doorbell, hair a mess, eyes red and watery, and a small cut on her thumb (that still had dried blood on it) from when she was at the school’s garden earlier that day.

“Coming!” a voice was heard from inside the house, followed by a small thud, and finally the door flung open, revealing a barely showered Daehyun, hair wet, dressed in head-to-toe in light purple pajamas, and some unicorn slippers on his feet which caught Hyosung off-guard for a second, for that was her gift to him on his last birthday. “Hyosung? What are yo- woah, what happened?” he cut off his own sentence once he noticed Hyosung’s state. “Are you okay? Hyo...”

“How could you?”

Daehyun’s eyebrows knitted in confusion; “How could I what? What are you talking about, Hyosung?” He took a step closer to her, gripping onto her shoulder; “Let’s go inside, it looks like it’s going to rain. Com-”

“D-Don’t come towards me,” Hyosung stuttered out, taking a step back. She didn’t know why, but his touch made her extremely uncomfortable... ever since she found out he was cheating on her. Ever since she found out he had been touching Jieun with the same hands he’s been touching her. Ever since she found out that he was sharing his lips, that were supposed to be just hers, with someone else.

“Hyosung, I-”

Hyosung shook her head, letting a couple tears flow down eyes and slide down her cheeks. “I can’t keep hurting. I’m tired of it, seriously. And it’s the same heart-aching, eye-watering, leg-trembling feeling that I get every time I see you.” she paused, looking down at the ground; “I see the way you look at me, Daehyun. I see the horror in your eyes whenever I near you. I see it all. But what I see the most is... is-”

She choked on her own saliva all of a sudden, drowning in her tears; “I see the way you act around Jieun. I see the way you look at her. I-I saw the way you kissed her in the library, Daehyun, I saw. I was there.”

Daehyun's eyes rounded like saucers, looking more surprised than ever, yet what caught Hyosung's attention the most was the guilt filling his irisis - it gushed all at once, engulfing his once worried eyes, now turning them into warm, gentle, studious ones.

"A-And that's why," Hyosung took in a deep breath, trying to keep herslelf from breaking down right then and there, " T-That's why I'm here." She looked down at the ground, her shoes suddenly becoming really interesting to look at; "Let's break u-"

She hadn't finished her last sentence when she felt two arms engulf her in a hug, followed by Daehyun's chin on her shoulder.

“Hyosung, no, you’ve got it all wrong. Please, it’s not like that at all. Jieun... Jieun and I...” he trailed off, not finding the correct words to continue explaining. “I love you Hyosung, please don-”

“You can stop lying Daehyun. I... You and I must come to an end.”

Hyosung cringed as she pulled away from Daehyun, seeing his mortified face. It wasn't anything like him. He's lost all color to his face, looking paler than her, and his eyes... they were now blank. She watched as his hands fell to his side, building up courage to not cry.

"Don't do this Hyosung, I need you... I-I love yo-"

“You don’t love me anymore, Dae. Like I said before, you can stop lying - to me and to yourself. You don't love me.”

“But-”

Hyosung shut him up by placing a finger on Daehyun’s plump lips, shaking her head; “I know you don’t love me anymore. Maybe you never even did, who knows? But I see the way you look at her..." She stopped to catch her breath once more, "I know, because you used to look at me that way.”

“Aish, no, you’ve got it all wrong! Jieun and I, never. I-I don’t like her, Hyo. I didn’t mean to cheat on you. I don’t know what got into me. It’s just that I saw you with Himchan all the time and I... I don’t know. I’m just... Mianhae.”

And that was all it took - that one word - to set Hyosung's tears ajerk.

She felt her body shudder, making her legs feel like jelly. Suddenly it hurt to stand, yet she found herself backing away from Daehyun, taking slow steps backwards. She had a hand on , preventing her from letting any whimpers from escaping .

felt extremely dry, causing her troubles to swallow the lump that had previously formed in .

"I didn't mean for this to happen, Hyosung." She heard Daehyun say in a whisper, his voice sounding faint. "I didn't mean to distance myself from you. I didn't mean for you to be hurting. I didn't, really." he continued speaking, "Trust me. That'd be the last thing I'd want to do to you."

He started walking towards her yet again, but stopped in his tracks once he saw a manly figure standing behind her, placing his hands on Hyosung's shoulders. He watched as she didn't even flinch at the person's touch, instead she turned around, snuggling closer to the person.

"But you did, Daehyun." It was Himchan, now, who was speaking. His voice sounded serious and cold, which bothered Daehyun, but that wasn't what bothered him the most. What bothered him the most was seeing Hyosung in Himchan's arms. "You hurt her."

Daehyun raked a hand through his hair, "Stay out of this, hyung. This has nothing to do with you."

"If my best friend is involved in this, so am I." Himchan countered, "I said I'd always be there for her, that we'd always be together, and I'm not backing out now. She needs me."

"Look, hyung, I don't want to seem all rude, but this is just mine and Hyosung's problem," Daehyun spoke, trying to calm the anger building within him, "Therefor I'd like to speak of it with Hyo, and only her."

Himchan parted his lips, ready to speak up and disagree - to disagree with Daehyun. He was wrong. This 'problem', as he called it, wasn't only his and Hyosung's; cause Jieun, too, was involved.

Yet he never got to express his points, cause someone else spoke up, prohibiting him from doing so.

"You're right, Daehyun." It was Hyosung. She had, somehow, gotten out of Himchan's arms. She was facing Daehyun, her eyes bloody red, yet she managed to give him a casual nod; "let's just end this here."

And before Daehyun could even have the time to respond back, she was out.

She quickly ran past Himchan, accidentally crashing into his shoulder. She could here both Daehyun and Himchan call her name, but she prevented herself from looking back, or slowing down (since she was running as fast as her feet could take her).

All that she could think of at that moment was to run away - run away as far away as possible, all though she had no clue why.

      It was Monday, which meant school.

Hyosung groaned as she made her way out of her house, rubbing her makeup-free eye. She walked across her lawn, exiting her yard, turning around to close the gate, but was stopped by a hand on hers, and for a second she was scared, until she took notice of the feminine-like hand.

"Oh, umma did you forget you-" she stopped speaking, taking a look at the shining Goddess before her eyes. "J-Jieun?"

The said girl nodded, smiling. She looked great. Her hair was now brown, and it cascaded down her shoulders, all the way down her back. But what came to Hyosung's attention was her non-uniform clothing. She was wearing a knee-length dress, showng off her slender legs, along with some flats.

"Why are you here?" Hyosung asked, "And dressed like... that? Aren't you going to school?" She couldn't help but sound mean, and she could clearly see the other girl had noticed it, too, for she was a bit taken aback - it was noticeable in her rounded eyes. "Look, Jieun, I have to go to school so if you have something to say, spill it; you're wasting my time."

Jieun looked at Hyosung with amazed eyes. It was the first time her friend ever spoke like that to her. She was always so nice, so kind, so understanding, so loving. She shook her head, "I just wanted to ask if you wanted to skip school today with me and my cousin, Hana. It was only going to be me and her, but then I thought that you might want to come along and-"

"No thanks."

"-ice cream an- Huh?" Jieun was still speaking when Hyosung rudely declined her offer. "Did you say something?"

Hyosung rolled her eyes, "Look, Song Jieun-ssi, if you didn't hear me then you might want to go get an ear check-up." She reached over to touch the girl's shoulder, shoving her aside; "And maybe a heart check up, too. I can't believe you still have the guts to see me in the face and actually smile... even after all you've done to me."

"W-what?"

"Don't try and act all innocent now, I know what you're like." Hyosung smugly smiled at her, but it didn't quite reach her eyes; "I hate you with all my heart. You ruined everything, you know? Well, I hope you're happy - at least one of us will." She re-adjusted her school bag and picked up her feet, leaving the stunned girl behind her. Leaving her far away. Leaving her alone. Leaving her once and for all.

      Thanks to Jieun, Hyosung was tardy by two minutes, but that was enough to land her in detention, yet again.

"30 minutes after school, Ms. Jun," Mrs. Kwon spoke in clear English before she got back to writing on the board.

Hyosung didn't even react. She just continued her walk towards her seat, which so happened to be behind Daehyun's. She couldn't help but make eye contact with him as she passed his desk. She took notice of his flat face and of his eyebags. He looked worn out, just like her, or maybe even more than her. Naw, that's impossible. Why would he be worn out? He doesn't care about me. He has... Jieun.

Once the bell rang, indicating that it was time for lunch, the kids quickly fled the room. Guys went out on groups, as did the girls, which only left two people in the classroom: Hyosung and Daehyun.

It was silent, most likely cause both of them were fast asleep. Hyosung had her head laying on her desk, eyes closed, and mind off in dreamland, just like Daehyun, except he had a book spread out in front of him, to which he was supposed to be studying, but, meh, we saw how that turned out.

And it wasn't ten minutes into lunch break when Hyosung awoke from her nap, ing her head up from it's spot on the desk. She looked around the room, taking in that no one was present. Must be lunch already, she thought, shrugging. She slowly placed her head back on the desk, her eyes closing right as she saw a figure before her. So without a second to waste she shot them open again, looking straight at Daehyun's back.

She felt a pang at her chest, but shook her head anyway.

"I really wish you the best, Dae. Personally, if it wasn't hurting me, I would still be with you, therefore I'm sorry." She spoke in a whisper, "I'm sorry for being such a bother to you lately. Now that we're over... I don't know, I-I feel empty; but I know I'll get over it - get over you."

She smiled once more, a sad, weak smile.

"I love you, I still do, but there's no need to cry cause every rose has it's thorn. I should've known better than to mess with the prettiest, most kind, rose. It's all my fault, I'm sorry."

And with that, she closed her eyes once more, falling into a deep sleep. But what she was to careless of - what never crossed her mind - was that Daehyun, who she thought was asleep, was, in reality, awake. His eyes were open, his breath was unsteady, and tears threatened to spill as he listened to Hyosung's sweet, yet hurtful, words.

"I'm sorry," he whispered out, too, "I never meant to hurt you."

~~~~~~~~~~~
Chapter 16: I've just started to read these oneshots & I like them :)
But, it's just, to be honest I am quite disappointed with this chap's ending.. You should've written 'alternate ending' for the title (as you say in your A/N above) instead of 'final'. I don't know if it's just me but I do prefer the previous chap much, much than this happier ending one (although maybe you thought that one ). I think there could be people like me who prefers a real-ier story, albeit those angsts involved inside. Again, it's just my opinion. Sorry! >.<
Please keep writing more. Thanks..
Chapter 16: Okay, I just read this and this alternate ending isn't a happy one either ;w;
So.. *sniffs, taking a piece of tissue, and another one, and another one* Bby, I actually don't really like it when Hyosung gets hurt (whether it's in the reality or in fics) but I'm relieved enough when she could still pretending to be cool, to be looking a bit happy outside after everything she got from Daehyun and Jieun (which I never expect she'll be like this and oh my it hurts when knowing she cheated with Daehyun behind Hyosung's back, more like seducing him).
Andh, the problem is still on Daehyun and Jieun. Dae, because he became jealous so easily & being seduced so easily too while SsongJi, cause omg she seduced her bestfriend's boyfriend. How could her? ;o;
Buts I'm still glad because both Hyosung and Daehyun do still love each other. They just need to wait and since it's ended already, it means that you still left me hanging here, waiting for them to recover their broken hearts first T.T
Anyway, I need your update bby <3 Make a happy one, puhlease? Cheesy one is okay after this heartbreaking oneshot though ._.
