Daehyun 11

B.A.P. Oneshots

“We’re over.” The two words, simple as they were, were the two hardest words you ever had to say.

Daehyun dropped the microphone he was holding. A screech echoed in the theater. Everyone turned to look. Your eyes filled with tears and you took a step back. “What? Wait, no, why?” His voice cracked and you shook your head. Spinning around on your heel, you ran out of the theater.

Daehyun couldn’t run after you but he called you. He texted you, flooded your inbox with e-mails, invaded your voicemail. You ignored all of it. It wasn’t like you wanted to. It was something you had to do. You walked out of your house and jumped down the steps. You startled.

He was standing there. He had on a mask and was glaring at you. You looked down at his hand. He had a giant ax in it. “I want your blood and your heart,” he intoned, his voice not muffled by his mask at all.

You gasped and when you tried to step back, you saw that Yongguk was standing there, with a knife. “Nobody breaks up with one of my kids and gets away with it.” The worst part was, Daehyun’s face was morphing into one of a female’s and you could hear chants of, “Leave my oppa alone! Leave my oppa alone!”

You screamed and a silver gleam streaked through the air. The air hummed with the slice of sharp metal. You couldn’t stop screaming and you felt a blade press into your back. There was a loud ringing and it wouldn’t stop. This was it the end was near. You were dead. Everything was-

“Hey, babe, wake up.” You opened your eyes and saw Daehyun’s face in front of yours. His beautiful face was almost too much to bear and you nearly cried for real. “You were thrashing and moving so much.”

Your heart was still racing and he smiled, amused, when he felt it pitter-patter underneath his palm. “Hey, if you were dreaming about me, you can easily just wake me up and make your fantasies come true.” He winked at you.

You shied away and pulled the blanket over you. He put his hand up as a sign of surrender. “Or not. Okay, what happened? Nightmare?”

You nodded, unsure of whether you wanted to tell him the truth. He looked so kind, waiting patiently for your response. “Yeah,” you managed to whisper.

He wiped the hair off your forehead. “Aww, about what?”

This paralyzed you. If you told him, he might get worried. And he was going to audition for his musical today. He did not need to be worried. “Aha,” you laughed weakly. “Nothing. Just, er, you know. The usual. Snakes and getting chased by flying raccoons. Yep. Nothing really bad.”

For a second he looked like he didn’t believe you. You decided to go for the dramatic. “It’s true!” You protested. “The raccoon had long claws too.” Daehyun laughed and kissed you on the cheek.

“My crazy princess and her weird imagination.”

“Good luck today!” you chirped, and he waved at you.

You went out to check the mail and was relieved to see that today, it seemed to be stink bomb free. Some fans were vicious and even though it’s been a few months since you and Daehyun had come clean, they were still attacking you.

It seemed as if things got worse with time. At first, they didn’t believe it. But as Daehyun became more public about your dates and they started learning more about you, the media became crazy. You were earning a name for yourself as the hottest new young architect in Seoul and people were jealous.

Daehyun never knew about the slurs you received because you did a good job destroying the evidence. When they planted a stink bomb in the mailbox, you immediately had a garden of fresh smelling flowers implanted. When they delivered a dead rat to your door, you overcame your fear and called your father to get rid of it. The death threats and notes of hate, you easily destroyed in the fire.

But it was all beginning to take a toll on you. And even Daehyun wasn’t worth this much. You were walking back into the house when out of nowhere, a dart flew by your ear and pinned a note to your door.

Keep away from Daehyun. Or else, I won’t miss next time.

That did it. You tore down the note and threw the dart in the trash. You were at your wit’s end. Things were going to come to a close once and for all. When he came home, you were silent. He was happily recounting all the high notes he hit and you nodded.

“You’re really silent today,” he observed.

“I can’t do this anymore, Daehyun. My bag is all packed up. I think we need to break up. Your fans are getting dangerous and I don’t know anymore. They’re really killing me.” You said all of this in a monotone.

“What?” His voice cracked. It was like your nightmare all over again. He dropped the cup he was holding and the liquid splashed onto your foot. “Are you insane?” His mouth was shaped into an O and he didn’t look like he believed a word you were saying.

You shook your head and tried to go upstairs to get your suitcase. Daehyun grabbed your arm. “Tell me what has been going on. It’s clear you’ve been hiding things from me.” He sounded sad and disappointed.

You pointed at the note on the table. “That!” you cried. “Your fans have been threatening me ever since we announced our relationship. I hid it from you because I didn’t care. But they started sending me dead animals and death threats and I’m going crazy.” You started crying.

Daehyun was dumbstruck. He pulled you into his hug and your hair. “No, stop. Please, we can make it work. I’ll announce a statement. I’ll tell them to stop. They’ll listen to me. Our fans are good like that.”

You shook your head. “It’s no use. I can’t have them tainting my career as well. If word spreads of this, nobody would want to hire me, ever.”

“No.” He sounded tragic, desperate. “Please, I beg you.” He dropped on his knees and hugged your legs. “You can’t leave me.” He sounded like a little child.

“Why do they do this?” you sobbed.

Daehyun stood up and wiped away your tears. “Sh, we can get through this. Believe me okay? I will have the company issue a statement and I’ll tell them how disappointed I am. I promise. We can pull through okay?”

You hiccupped and he softened. “You’ve been having nightmares about them haven’t you?”

When you nodded, Daehyun kissed your forehead. “It’s okay. Your Busan Prince is here. Nobody can hurt you again. Promise.”
