Lay wasn’t entirely sure what had happened. It was before the SMTown concert, and they were standing there in the midst of Super Junior and Girls’ Generation. He and Sehun were talking casually, Sehun having to speak directly in Lay’s ear because it was so noisy.

                And suddenly he heard something he hadn’t expected to hear.

                “Oh, and hyung? I like you. A lot,” Sehun had said, and Lay was suddenly frozen with shock. Hadn’t that been what he’d been hoping to hear for who knows how long? Why couldn’t he respond?

                Sehun noticed Lay’s hesitation, and even with all the noise, he let out an audible sigh as he walked away.

                Had Lay just ruined exactly what he’d been dreaming for?

                He could hardly focus during the entire concert, because everything that had happened was just too unbelievable. First he’d had his wish granted and then suddenly everything was lost.

                Tao noticed that Lay was out of sorts when the show was over.

                “What’s wrong, gege?” he asked. “Is it your leg again?”

                “Sehunnie,” Lay said, and Tao looked around worriedly.

                “I’ll get him for you,” Tao said. Lay tried to tell him to wait, that that wasn’t what he wanted, but no words came out of his mouth once again. Was he suddenly mute?

                Sehun ambled over awkwardly, stopping in front of Lay. He looked at his feet for a few seconds, but realizing that Lay wasn’t speaking, he looked up.

                “Say something,” Sehun pleaded. Lay looked up at Sehun’s sad eyes and his throat clenched up.

                “I can’t,” Lay managed to squeak. Sehun sighed again and sat down next to Lay.

                “Listen, then,” he said. “Hyung, I just really like you, and I don’t know how to say it properly, I guess, but I just need to know definitively one way or the other. Do you like me?”

                Sehun looked at Lay seriously, pleading with his eyes for an answer.

                “Yes,” Lay whispered. “Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.”  

                “Wait, really?” Sehun asked incredulously. “Really?”

                “Yeah,” Lay nodded, laughing nervously. “Really.” Sehun smiled and threw his arms around Lay.

                “You don’t understand how happy this makes me, hyung,” Sehun said, holding Lay tight.

                “No, I think I do,” Lay smiled as he too wrapped his arms around Sehun.
