Hyosung never really expected herself to be so shocked during the first time a boy would confess to her. But she was when it turned out to be no other than, the school’s number one known jock, going by the name of Kikwang.
“I like you. Want to go out with me?” he spoke so bluntly before her. Her cheeks started turning red and she felt flustered, not knowing what to do. She froze in motion as soon as he bent down and propped himself upon one knee, hand extended out, waiting for her to take it.
“I d-don’t know...” Hyosung stuttered, her mind going blank.
“You sure?” he asked, with signs of hurt starting to show on her face.
“No, no! I meant...” she finally summoned up the courage to say, “Yes,” worrying that the whole school would laugh at her. She could already feel the piercing eyes of envious girls drilling holes through her back.
With the hearing of a yes, one of his friends going by the name of Yoseob I think jumped up in a elation. “Yes, we got even the quietest girl in the class to say yes to you!” and he had his hand tilted up as if motioning for a high five. Hyosung stared at them with clear features of puzzlement on her face.
The five group of boys were making fist bumps and bro hugs and all and she couldn’t understand why. Did they suddenly just forget about her?
Kikwang suddenly turned around and faced her again. Soon enough the others were acknowledging her as well, all eyes on her.
“Sorry, no hard feelings... But I didn’t really mean it when I said I like you... It was just a dare so yeah...” and then he started to just walk away, leaving a girl feeling clueless and a mix of other emotions going through her. She could hear snickering in the background while she froze in motion, trying to regain her senses. She turned around and saw everyone laughing at her.
The leader of the female popular group actually walked up to her and said, “You actually thought that Kikwang would want to go out with a girl like you?! Joke!”
“Yeah,” the girls by her side added on in unison and they strutted away laughing. Hyosung could feel her eyes starting to water and energy finding their way back to her legs. Suddenly, they were moving and she was fleeing, running out through the doors of the cafeteria before anyone could see the teardrops slipping out of her eye sockets.
Never again would she let herself fall for that arrogant jerk.
