Jaejoong’s POV

One year had passed. Jaebin’s Illness had worsened tremendously. She couldn’t walk about like a normal person. Not say taking care of our child.

Yes we have a child. Jaebin got pregnant after we came back from Singapore. We got a call from her doctor a few days after she went for her check up saying she is 3 weeks pregnant.

Our child is a baby girl. We named her Kim Chae young. She’s really beautiful. She inherited her mother’s beautiful brown orbs.

“Jae ah.” I heard her call me as I went into our room, carrying our baby in my arms.

“If you’re tired, you can rest. I’ll take care of Chae young.” I assured her. She was starting to lose her memory. Sometimes, she couldn’t recongise Minhyuk and Mi-young. On other occasions she doesn’t remember things she just did. So I often asked her to rest rather than cook or do house hold chores. It took up a lot of her energy, so we hired a helper to help us with chores.

“Don’t worry master, I’ll take care of Madam and young mistress.” She bowed as I left for work. Sometimes, Omoni would come over and help out as well. Omma and Appa came by often and took a look at her and the baby.

“You should stay at home and spend more time with your wife. You’ll need it.” Dongho said as I appeared for work.

Sometimes, seeing Jaebin in such a state just pains my heart. I couldn’t do anything to help her. All I could do was watch her suffer. Sometimes I really hate myself.

“Jae ah, It’s not your fault.” She would always tell me.

As months go by, she started to forget people. One by one, everyone got forgotten. However, Chae young and I weren’t. By the time she had 1 month left, she forgotten everyone but us.

When we got back to the hospital for check up, the doctor told us to be mentally repaired because she may just leave anytime.

“Jaebin ah, what would you like for dinner?” We rarely eat out now because Jaebin’s legs were failing and she could barely stand up.

“Kimbap.” She said and we indeed had kimbap for dinner. It was one of her favourite food.

The month was reaching its end and I’m dreading it every day.

“Are you tired?” I asked as it was close to 10pm and she rarely was able to stay up till so late. She shook her head.

“I’m not tired. I want to spend more time with you.” She said with a small smile.

When we got to our bedroom, we talked about life.

“Jae ah, if I move on, promise me to be god to yourself and our baby girl.”

“Don’t say such things now.” I forced a smile.

“I know I’m leaving and joining Yoochun.” She smiled.

I got a shock. She remembers who Yoochun is.

“Please don’t say such things Jaebin. You’re scaring me.”

“Alright Alright.” She smiled.

“Promise me you’ll take good care of our girl.” She said it for the second time.

“I will. I promise. I will raise her to be just like her Omma.”

“How I wish I can hear her call me Omma.” She smiled.

“She will. You’ll definitely get to hear it.”

“You know I love you so much.” She smiled.

“I love you too.” I said before giving her a peck on her forehead.

“I’m tired now.” She said and we headed to bed.

However, I didn’t know that was the last conversation we had.

The next morning, I found myself unable to wake her up. Her body was getting cold and she wasn’t breathing. She had left us forever.

All of it seems to be like yesterday.

“Appa! Thinking of Omma again?” Chae Young is now 23. She had unexpectedly taken her mother’s footsteps as well as her uncle.

Chae young is one of the world’s best ballerina and designer. She’s known to be very talented and of course there’s bound to be admirers.

“I really want to know what kind of person Omma was.” She said as she hugged my neck from behind.

“You’re Omma is just like you.” Was all I could say. The both of them looked exactly the same. It was like Heaven has given me another Jaebin to stay by my side.

“Donghae Ahjusshi!” Chae Young said and I looked up to find Donghae. Ever since he came back to attend Jaebin’s funeral, we started being friends.

“How’s my god daughter doing?” He asked as he pinched her cheeks.

“Yah! Ahjusshi! It’s painful!” She pouted as Donghae let go of her cheeks.

“Oh Ryeowook!” She exclaimed and rushed up to him and embraced him in a hug and not to mention a mind blowing kiss.

“Ahjusshi.” He greeted me and all I know was that his face was beet red.

“Just call me aboji. Since Chae Young is dying to get married to you.” I smiled and he blushed even deeper.

“Yah! Appa!” She exclaimed as I left the both of them to entertain themselves.

I headed out of the house, deciding to get some fresh air. However, everywhere seems to remind me of Jaebin. I didn’t know where my legs were bringing me to. However, the next moment I knew, I was at the park.

“Jaebin ah, Are you doing well? Our daughter is really like you.” I said as I looked at the bright blue sky. It has been close to 22 years that Jaebin has left us.

After sitting there for some time, my phone rang. Taking out my phone, I realized I have been sitting in the park for close to 2 hours.

“Yah! Appa! Where are you?” It was Chae young.

When I hung up, I made my way back home, thinking about nothing other than Jaebin.

End of Jaejoong’s POV

No one’s POV

Jaejoong was in an entire daze on his way home, crossing roads after roads. However, at the last pedestrian crossing, he failed to realize that there was a car coming towards him. When he finally realized, it was too late.

In Jaejoong’s mind, it flashed by him his past and the times he spent with Jaebin. Lastly, there was a flash of white light and he saw Jaebin reaching out her hand towards him. He took her hand and with that, he closed his eyes and was gone.

“Ahjusshi! Ahjusshi!” There was a crowd around him and a lady who said to be a doctor was trying to save him, but what they don’t know is that he has already gone and will not return.

Chae Young’s POV

Appa isn’t home yet. I was pacing the floor in the living room. I called him an hour ago. He doesn’t need that much time to get back.

“Chae Young ah, you’re Appa would be alright.” Donghae Ahjusshi reassured me as I took a seat beside Ryeowook as he wrapped his arm around me, making me feel safer.

Suddenly the phone rang. Is it Appa? Donghae Ahjusshi beat me to getting the phone since it was just beside him.

Both Ryeowook and I looked at him. His calm expressed changed to a shocked expression before the phone slipped off his hands.

“Donghae Ahjusshi! What’s wrong? Who’s that?” I asked as he wasn’t acting like he normally is.

“It’s the police. They say you Appa…”

“What happened to Appa?” I asked, trying to remain as calm as possible, but I know I’m already screaming my lungs out.

Before I heard what Donghae Ahjusshi had to say, my world went black.

The next moment I woke up, I found myself lying on ryeowook’s lap.

“What happened?” I asked, still feeling my head spinning a little.

“Chae Young ah, Your Appa died.”  I looked at him.

“You’re funny Ryeowook, but it’s not a nice thing to joke about.” I smiled as his eyes were filled with tear.

“I’m not joking, Chae young ah.  The police called and now Donghae Ahjusshi is on his way there. We should go too.” With that, I grabbed my coat and ran out of the house with Ryeowook following behind me. We hailed a cab and rushed to the hospital.

In my mind, I kept hoping it’s all just a dream. This isn’t real. I have lost my Omma and I can’t lose Appa now as well. As I reached the hospital, I saw Donghae Ahjusshi sitting with his head buried in his hands.

“Chae Young ah, I’m sorry.” He said and I could see tears streaming down his face.

I sat right down on the floor in a daze. This is not real. It’s all a dream. When I wake up, everything would be as it is. Appa will be alive.

“Chae Young ah! Chaeyoung ah!” Ryeowook trailed behind me as I walked into a cold room with a body lying in the middle, covered with a piece of white cloth.

I uncovered the face and there he was. My Appa, his face as pale as ever and he wasn’t moving.

“Appa, I know this is a bad prank. I promise I won’t make you angry anymore. Please don’t joke Appa.” Tears were streaming down my face and I know this wasn’t a dream this is real.

Days passed like years. Donghae Ahjusshi helped me with the funeral preparations. Ryeowook has been with me all the while.

“Chae young ah, be strong. Your Appa won’t want to see you like this.” Donghae Ahjusshi said with his hands on my shoulder.

“I will be strong. Because now I know, Appa and Omma will be watching me.” With that, I smiled.

I will be strong for my parents. I will forever.
