KIM HYUN JOONG POV

I waited restlessly as I paced back and forth.

“AISH, stop pacing” her friend, taeyeon screamed for the millionth time.

“Sorry, I’m just anxious” I replied glumly.

Hope that nothing bad would happen.

A few injuries would be better than her dead.

I don’t think I’ll be able to live with that.

“How are you connected with so min anyway” taeyeon asked out of curiosity.

“I’m pretty sure that before the marriage was announced, you didn’t even talk to her, or anything, so she basically lived life despising you” taeyeon said.

“how did you know about that” I asked shocked.

“Well, it’s a long story” I added.

“she told me, well I’m listening” taeyeon said.

“Well... “ I started.

 “omma, where are you going” kim hyun joong asked.

“I’m going to go and pick up so min and her omma” hyun joongs omma said as she patted kim hyun joongs head.

“arasso” I said as I waved.

 

So min arrived at hyun joongs house.

“Go and play” so mins omma said.

“Now run along you two” hyun joongs omma .

So min followed hyun joong up the stairs.

“You just sit there and do nothing” kim hyun joong said as he pointed to a chair.

“I don’t want to, I want to play with you” so min said as she gave him puppy eyes.

“aniyo, I don’t like to play with people like you” kim hyun joong replied as he turned around.

“Yah, I’m not taking no for an answer” so min replied as she held onto hyun joongs arm.

“Yah, let go” hyun joong said as he frantically tried to pull his arm out of her grasp.

“Aniyo” so min said as she pouted.

So min dragged hyun joong down stairs.

Hyun joong reluctantly followed.

“mars kim, me and hyun joong are going out shopping” so min said as she dragged hyun joong out the door.

“Be safe you two” Mrs kim shouted as we quickly exited, not letting hyun joong utter a word.

“Yah, let go of me” hyun joong screamed.

So min smiled, not following his request.

So min dragged him to all kinds of shops.

“hyun joong I want this” so min said as she pointed to a hello kitty plushie.

“No you aren’t” hyun joong said as he stormed off.

So min stood there, tear about to spill out of her eyes.

Hyun joong turned around.

“okay fine, I’ll get it for you” he said as he walked over annoyed.

“Yay” so min shouted as she jumped up and down.

She hugged the plushie as they continued walking around.

By the time they went home, so min was carrying hello kitty plushies, posters, stickers, anything, you name it.

“omma, look what hyun joong bought me” so min shouted jumping up and down.

“Isn’t that a bit much” so mins omma said looking at me.

“aniyo” so min said smiling.

Kim hyun joong could feel a smile forming as he looked at your happy face.

So min noticed as she turned and gave hyun joong a wide smile.

“omma, can I stay the night here” so min asked with puppy eyes.

“Of course you can” hyun joongs omma cut in.

“Is it okay, omma?” so min asked again.

She merely nodded her head.

“YAY” so min shouted as she jumped up and down.

“Well I got to go, so min be good arasso?” so min omma said.

“arasso” so min said smiling.

So min rushed up-stairs, taking two steps at a time.

“Yah, be careful” hyun joong shouted as he tried to catch up with so min.

                     “oppa, I won’t fall” so min said as she slipped and fell backwards.

Hyun joong caught her in his arms.

“I told you to be careful” hyun joong said as he placed so min down.

So mins face turned into a dark shade of red.

Hyun joong looked at so min as his heart started to beat uncontrollably fast.

‘why is my heart beating so fast’ hyun joong thought.

Hyun joong rushed up stairs to find her lying on his bed, staring intently at the ceiling.

“oppa, why do you hate me?’ so min asked.

“I don’t” hyun joong stated.

“Then why are you always so cold to me, it really hurts here you know” so min said as she placed her hand on her heart.

“I’m always cold” hyun joong said.

“No you aren’t, your always smiling when you’re with other people” so min said as she turned her back towards hyun joong.

“I don’t okay” hyun joong said as he climbed onto the bed and hugged her from behind.

So min flinched when she felt strong protective arms hold her.

“I’m sorry, please forgive me” hyun joong said as he gave her a smile.

‘why the heck did I do that’ hyun joong thought.

“OPPA, you smiled again” so min said as she jumped up and down on the bed.

“again?” hyun joong asked.

“Ne. before when we were down stairs” she said as she smiled.

‘She caught me! o.O’ hyun joong thought.

They fell asleep talking.

Hyun joongs omma entered the room as her eyes fell upon the two sleeping beauties sleeping soundly on the bed.

“These kids” she whispered as a smile formed.

She grabbed the blanket as she placed it over the sleeping bodies.

“Sweet dreams’ hyun joongs omma said as she left the room.

During the night, hyun joong unconsciously wrapped his arms around so mins slim waist.

So min rubbed her eyes as she felt a pair of arms around her.

She looked up; she was face to face hyun joong.

She felt her cheeks heat up.

Hyun joongs eyes sudden opened, causing so min to gasp as she tried to squirm out of his grip.

He didn’t budge.

His arms still wrapped tightly around her waist.

“oppa, let go of me” so min squeaked.

He immediately let go.

‘My heart….its beating like this again, maybe this is what they call love’ hyun joong thought.

So min rushed out of the room, face red like a tomato.

One thing played on her mind.

‘Does he like me?’

So min held her cheeks in her hand, and smiled.

“So min” hyun joong called.

So min poked her head from the other side of the door.

“ne, oppa” she said shyly.

“let’s go to the park” hyun joong said as he got off the bed.

“arasso” I said as I rushed downstairs.

“So min, your omma came and bought you change of clothes” hyun joongs omma said as she grinned widely.

So min ran to the swing, as she sat down.

She swung up and down, letting the cool morning air blow her hair back.

“You love swings don’t you” hyun joong said as he sat on the opposite swing.

“I love it, it makes my worries go away, the only thing that can make me feel on top of the world” so min said as she smiled.

With every swing, she swung even higher, getting closer and closer to the bright blue sky.

“Whoa, isn’t that a little too high” hyun joong asked as he looked up in concern.

“aniyo, oppa why don’t you try?” so min said.

“I don’t want to” hyun joong said.

“oppa, you scared of heights” so min mocked.

“aniyo” hyun joong shouted as he swung higher and higher.

About midway, hyun joong stopped.

“Why are you stopping?” so min asked.

“No reason” hyun joong replied as he sat there.

“ooh, I see, OPPA is scared of heights” so min mocked.

He shot so min a glare.

“oppa, that glare of yours won’t work on me” so min said as she smiled.

“oppa, why don’t you try, it feels great having the wind blowing into your face, oppa please try” so min said as she tried to swing hyun joong back and forth.

Before so min could push anymore he jumped off.

“Yah, oppa, where are you going” I said chasing after him.

He smirked as he ran near a fountain.

Hyun joong splashed the cold water onto so min.

“yah, oppa that’s cold” so min screamed.

She grabbed a handful of water as she splashed it over his head.

“hehe. Payback” so min smiled as she ran for her life.

They splashed water at each other continuously.

“Yah, oppa, I don’t want to play anymore, its cold” so min whined.

He ignored so mins plea as he grabbed a handful of water and tried to splash it on her.

“haha, oppa, you missed” so min smiled as she ran away.

Drops of water fell on their heads.

“oppa, it’s starting to rain” so min said as she caught the raindrops into the palms of her hand.

They ran to find shelter.

“oppa, see now I’m extra wet” so min pouted.

Hyun joong took off his coat as he placed it on so mins shoulder.

So min looked up at him in confusion.

“you’re going a catch a cold if your just wearing that thin jacket” hyun joong replied.

“oppa, kasamnida” so min said as she sat down on the bench. Hyun joong followed.

“oppa, sometimes I wonder if I will ever find true love” so min said as she laid her head on hyun joongs shoulder.

He gave no response.

“I want to live life with no regrets, I want to live life to fullest, I want nothing to stop me from being happy with the person I love, I don’t want him to leave my side, I want someone who would stay with me forever, no matter what, most importantly I want someone to love me for who I am” so min as she closed her eyes.

“oppa” so min said.

“Hmm” hyun joong replied.

“Will you be that person?” so min whispered as she closed her eyes.

Hyun joong was surprised at her sudden request; he felt his heart beating, it was beating so fast that he thought it might come out.

He looked at her sleeping form, as he smiled widely.

“So min, I will be that person, I won’t ever leave your side, if you can hear me that is” hyun joong said softly as he let out a sigh.

“oppa, you will” so min asked.

‘what! She’s awake’ hyun joong thought.

“oppa?” she called again as she took her head off of his shoulder.

‘No way you can back out now hyun joong, might as well give her a chance’ he thought.

“yes, yes I will” hyun joong said smiling.

“oppa, thankyou” so min said as she threw her arms around him.

“c’mon, let’s go home, it stopped raining” hyun joong said.

She nodded her head as she followed hyun joong.

Days past, weeks flew by, everything was going smoothly.

Hyun joong started falling for so min with each passing day.

Until that day…

That horrible day

So min had her earplugs in as she went to buy hyun joong a cake for his upcoming birthday.

She hummed to the songs.

She held onto the cake tight as she waited at the crossing.

Seeing someone cross the road, she assumed that the lights had turned green.

She didn’t check, as she walked.

The beeping horn blared at her, but it made no effect.

She was completely immersed in her music.

As the car came increasingly closer.

From afar hyun joong saw her.

He closed his eyes, he didn’t know what to do.

He was so young that day.

Hyun joong held his breath as the car crashed into her.

The cake she was holding splattered all over the ground.

People started crowding around her, while hyun joong just stood there.

He watched from the sidelines, his eyes full of horror, he didn’t know what to do.

Before hyun joong knew it the ambulance had gone and was taking so min.

He ran with all he could, he ran to the hospital.

He waited outside so mins room.

Eagar to know if she was okay.

The doctor came out, hyun joong immediately stood up.

“Doctor, is she okay” hyun joong asked.

“Are you family?” the doctor asked.

“I’m a close friend with” hyun joong said.

“Alright” the doctor said unsure.

“She’s hit her head pretty badly, so there would be a great chance of memory loss, but besides that, she’s fine” the said as he walked off.

Hyun joong went into the room.

“Who the heck are you, get out” so min screamed as she shot up from her bed.

Hyun joong stared at her in utter shock.

“so min?” hyun joong asked slowly.

“Yea, who are you?” she whispered.

“It’s me hyun joong. Your … boyfriend” hyun joong said slowly.

“What? I don’t have a boyfriend” so min said as she crossed her arms over her chest and pulled the blackets up to her neck.

“You don’t remember me?” hyun joong asked.

She nodded her head slowly.

“arasso” hyun joong said as she exited the room.

‘his face, it feels so familiar’ so min thought.

“So min” so mins omma came rushing in.

“omma” so min said as tears fell down her eyes.

Days past, it was as if hyun joong and so min were never friends.

It was as if they never knew each other.

Hyun joong tried his best to make her remember, but every time he did, she would run away or push him away.

Days past, weeks past, before they knew it, years had passed by.

They never talked to each other, in those past days, but in hyun joongs memory she was never erased, it was only kept at the back of his head. He had kept all her things that he had bought with her, printed off photos and placed them into an album.
