Sehun was aware of the happenings of his surrounding, but not fully. He was like a person in an imaginary coma, and couldn't blink his eyes open no matter how hard he tried. Probably due to having his core drained, he felt as if he could sleep for a century and that too wouldn't be enough. He sensed Kai, his guardians and his mom's healing power forcing its way inside him as his body absorbed it gluttony that he feared he was going to drain her dry. Though it succeeded in healing his injury, yet he still couldn't open his eyes nor move.  But that was until the stone was placed next to his heart. It was as like the one vital thing his body needed to function. If they'd payed attention at that moment, they would have noticed his hands twitching even before his mom took him away. Still Sehun didn't regain his full body function till a while later, when a warm hand touched his forehead as if to give him a boost, like it happened with his guardians. And the moment he opened his eyes, he found that his body was glowing and seem to brighten from the inside with mixture of green and orange light. Being able to glow was nothing new to Sehun considering he was part firebird, but this felt different. He realized without anyone needing to tell him. Somehow the stone had fused with his body and soul, making him exceptionally strong as if he would shatter the sky and the earth in a split second. So much power in him that he needed to let out. The second thing Sehun discovered was that he wasn't inside a room or on a bed like he had assumed due to how comfortable the surface he'd been laying on felt. He was wrapped up in vines and leaves, big, soft, vibrant and green. Another thing Sehun noticed was how, the tree was in sync with him in every possible way. When he wanted to move, the tree let go, by unwrapping the leaves and vines as he slowly floated up as if he were a weightless object, until he was stood high on top of it. Staring at his glowing hands, Sehun had never felt more alive.   "Ah it's happening!" A calm female voice said. Glancing down, Sehun noted how high above he was, seeing the two women stood below. One was his mom, her wings swaying back and forth with a serene smile on her face. The other was the goddess of spring? Sehun wasn't certain because he had never met this goddess, but her flowery attire and crown were how the spring goddess represent herself. Her visible lack of enthusiasm left no doubt that she didn’t want to be there—and she made no attempt to appear otherwise happy. Ignoring the unhappy goddess, Sehun's eyes fixed on his mom."What is happening?" He asked, moving his leg and the right side of the tree moved with him. "Careful not to hit this old Mama." Blink smiled. "You're bonding with the tree. Just a little longer and you'll be all good." "The tree?" Just as he asked, images flashed in his mind, the same images he had seen before when Kai showed him the cursed tree for the first time. "The cursed tree." He realized, it was trying to answer his question. Did that mean the tree was sentient? As if to prove it was, a leaf reached out to caress Sehun's hand, like giving him a handshake. "Yes. With the remaining energy in Jae and yours becoming whole, the tree fully recognized you as it's savior and is completing the bonding. In other words, Varal shall be free of its curse completely." His mom said, then frowned slightly. "How do you feel?" She asked, assessing him and the tree. "Strong." Sehun said, taking a look at his body and once again marveling at the power raging in him like a blazing fire. She let out a sigh her smile returning."Exactly as you should." "There's this symbol in my mind, that I don't know what to with." "Yes, the symbol of the curse. It will come naturally." Blink said. "You gave me a scare back then, I had to call this goddess to help strengthen your connection with the tree so that you'll wake soon." "And I am not happy I about it." The goddess glared at Blink. "Using that one favor I owed you to bring me here while in the middle of something important." Yet again Sehun ignored the goddess. He would have time to be curious and gossip about what she meant later, not now. "She's one of the three sisters of fate." Blink told him and that surprised Sehun. The sisters of fate? But wasn't she one of high mother's daughter? The spring goddess? "She's not the spring goddess, but the spring goddess's mentor. Also High Mother's second sister." Ah Sehun now understood why the goddess was mad. The sisters of fate didn't interfere with mortal affairs no matter what. Most importantly they were constantly busy with the string of fate and the wheel of time. Sehun wondered what flavor she owed Blink for the goddess to leave her post to come help her son. "Now what do I do?" He asked, shoving his curiosity down. "I am not sure, there's no manual on that. Sorry." The goddess shrugged. "Not even the book of hearts has explicit description of the curse breaking." "Just follow your instincts, it will guide you." Blink reached out to touch a leaf and it curled around her fingers, like a child holding onto its mother. Sehun figured the tree was connected to his every emotions. Because holding Blink was exactly what he wanted to do at the moment, to assure himself all this was real. "My instinct is to go to the battlefield and help my people, my mate and connect with my guardians." "Then that's what you should do." She said, letting go of the leaf she as she briefly recount what had occurred at the battle in his absence. "There's one thing you should know." She added just as Sehun began to move, prompting him to halt. "The Griffs are still fighting despite knowing the thing they fight for is pointless. But it's not because of their undying loyalty, but because he'd used a slave spell on them and they didn't know.  In their head they believed they're doing it for the good of their race. That Varal would annihilate them if they don't fight back." She tapped her head for emphasis. A slave spell? That was crossing the line, it was enough to execute not just his father had he been alive, but three generation of his family, according to the Griffs law. Sehun didn't need to wonder how his father convinced the Griffs to fight for him. It also explained their strange behavior toward him the time they nearly kneeled before him. They knew deep down they should be on his side as a Fenigriff– twin or not –but the spell had messed up their minds. "I will keep that in mind." He nodded Blink's way. He understood she told him about the slave spell not because she had an obligation or resentment toward the Griffs, but whether to spare the Griffs or not was Sehun's choice, and had nothing to do with her. Sehun would give them a chance. One chance and no more. If they squash it, then it's on them. "Here the thing you asked for." She extended a tiny apparatus, which a vine took in his stead and passed it to him. Sehun placed the item inside his pocket, this time nodding toward the other goddess who pursed her lips in return. Closing his eyes on impulse, Sehun opened them to find that he was now in the battlefield. He didn't know how he suddenly could teleport considering he hadn't bonded with Kai to share his ability, but he had a feeling it had something to with tree. Naturally the first person he noticed was his husband. He didn't know if it was due to his magic being amplified, but Sehun never felt more connected to his mate.  Numerous creatures and Griffs were attracted to Kai for some reason, while almost everyone tried to prevent them from reaching Kai. The second person Sehun noticed was the demon that stood in front of Kai as if declaring anything coming toward Kai would have to go through him. The blade in demon's hand was killing endlessly. His movements were quick and agile, and every angle his blade slashed through was so accurate as though they were calculated in precision. A preciseness that could make a person’s blood run cold. After dealing with the threats in his radius, the demon paused, watching the approaching horde of Griffs and creatures. Even though Sehun couldn't see his face, he could tell the demon had a frown. Seemingly decided on his next cause of action, he lifted his weapon and made a wide arc with his sword. Sehun felt the power within that move, that wasn't just simple a move .If it reached the Griffs, it would end them in mass and he couldn't have that. Not because he had lingering attachment, but because they were in dark. They had already lost a lot, there was no need to lose more. At this point they might as well go instinct. With that in mind, Sehun sprinted forward in a speed that could split the wind in half. In the process he let out a fragment of his power to dispell the demon's. Sehun intended to spare the Griffs and to his surprise his magic did exactly that, while disintegrating the creatures to fine dust. Kai must have felt his presence, because he lifted his head and looked at Sehun. His eyes were wide, wonder and awe unconcealed. Sehun wasn't sure Kai could see his expression due to the glow, however he still smiled at him. Turning his gaze to field, Sehun released more magic. This time his fire meant for the Griffs. As though having a mind of its own, his flames traveled across the field capturing the Griffs in its grip, not excluding any of them. Some screamed dramatically and tried to fly or run, which had Sehun rolling his eyes. He didn't have intention to hurt them or he wouldn't have stopped the demon earlier. But they didn't know that. His fire was meant to cleanse them of the slave spells, to give them their free will back. The spell was strong, even with his additional powers, it was proving to be a challenge, or was it because they were too many for Sehun to handle? Ideally, the spell should have lifted itself when his father died, but since it didn't, meant that it was the type etched into their souls. It seemed like his father had gone all out to achieve his goal. Sehun could guess a deity's essence was involved.  Suddenly Zach and the other cats were beside the tree."Hold on Sehun, my hubby is gonna help." Lyla sent to him. Zach was the post powerful hellcat Sehun had met, but it didn't mean he had the ability. Only a spirit animal could – Sehun's thought were cut off when felt a boost of energy. Using his tail, Zach sent out lightning to the tree that traveled up to Sehun, giving the needed aid to complete the cleaning without much difficulty. Mothers above. Zach actually achieved it. Sehun couldn't help but to let his eyes linger. There would be time to be curious about Zach. With a sigh, he released the Griffs, calling his fire back to himself. The battlefield was silent. All eyes turned to Sehun. Now that they were free of the spell, if they continued to attack his people, Sehun wouldn't be merciful. He would exterminate them to a point even their DNA would be hard to retrieve. Thus he waited. He wasn't really surprised when they dropped to their knees, declaring their allegiance to him. He was a Fenigriff and that naturally earned him their respects.  It was time for the next step. Satisfied, Sehun scanned the field and spotted his guardians in positions he wanted them to be as if already knowing what was to come. It was time to end this battle once and for all. And to do that he would need to send his powers through them to form the symbol flashing in his mind. He believed it would break the curse completely as well as take out the vermin creatures. Get ready. Sehun sent to their minds, moving to the center of the field, and those that were stood in the spot scattered around, giving him the space he needed. We've been waiting. Baekhyun sent back and Sehun could picture his friend nodding with a serious expression. I will lend you more of powers. Zach sent him, while striking the tree with more lightning, that traveled into Sehun. Powers surging, Sehun let it out. It traveled from him to the six corners, each string taking a different color to match the guardian, just like it happened when they formed the bond. The field was shrouded in light, so beautiful that no one seem to take their eyes off. He looked at the guardians in his direct line of sight. Jumnyeon had a grimace, Tao a frown while Minseok's face was pinched as though in pain. Was the power too much for them? But Sehun didn't release it all, there was so much in him he needed to let out. "Let it all out. Sehun." Heechul shouted, dragging Sehun's gaze to him."The guardians are made for this. They can take it." The grandmaster said, and both his fathers nodded next to Heechul. Instructor Choi, purse his lips, staring at Sehu

Chapter 43: It was my favorite chapter as well, I even read it a couple of times.

There is never a dull moment in the Byun household and I love that Mina is still there with them. It’s also obvious that Baekhyun is her favorite. Little Steph is a sweetheart as well, I am still laughing over Baek and the paternity test. I can’t wait for the wedding.

Kai and Sehun are still the same and it’s hilarious that Kai has absolutely no control over his dragon, especially where his mate is concerned. It was also great to see Sehun send those ministers packing, Hyunjin is the rightful Crown Prince.

Lastly, I also enjoyed Blink visiting and the hellacats still being with Sehun. Thank you so much for this update, I am sure I will read it again before the next one.

Chapter 43: I can see why this was your favorite one to write, I really enjoyed reading it too. My favorite part is how the four hellcats are so protective of Sehun and everyone knows they are there for him, not Kia.

I can't understand why the minister/counselors would think Sehun would oust Hyunjin. Especially this many years later with hearing and seeing Sehun treat him lovingly as his own. I wonder if the minister was thinking of marrying his son or a close relative to the girl to take the throne maybe?

It's cute how Beakhyun is the only one to take Mia to task for changing the natural order/timing of change with her abilities just because she is curious. It only works because she loves and respects him so much and he is not afraid of her or what she can do.
I love his son, and how he had a DNA test to see if he was Chanyeols. The way Chanyeol teases him and laughs about it is fun too.
Thank you for this great chapter looking forward to the next. Hoping you have a good week.

Chapter 42: wow, that was very loving and sweet. Now they are one, both seemed tired but deeply content. Not much to say about this chapter, except glad that they finally mated. Kia just could not help but brag, he will probably regret it, he'll lose control and bam Sehun will be pregnant before the five-year mark.

Hope you had a nice time with your family.
