"That's all I know." Hyoyeon said, her voice dropping dangerously low. She needed rest to heal properly. Anger and grief warred within Kai as unease filled him anew. "" he cursed out loud, a hand going to his hair, vaguely noting he had lost his crown at some point and didn't care to remember where he'd tossed it. His mom had been caught off guard and didn't see her attacker. It happened so fast, one moment she was in mist form and the next she felt a stabbing pain that forced her to let go of the glamour. Knowing he wouldn't get much info from her, Kai ordered Yuri and Taeyeon to get his mom to her quarters. Turning his attention to the people around, Kai used the link to summon his shadow guards. They were before him the next moment, ready to do as command. Where was Jungkook? He was usually the first in attendance when Kai summoned them, unless he was completely immersed in a book and hadn’t even heard Kai's call. Wouldn’t be the first time. Especially today when he wasn't the one on duty and had been prepared to enjoy his day off. Watching Yuri and Taeyeon exit the room with his mom, Kai let out a breath. "No one leaves the room!" He commanded, eyes frantically scanning around. He was no dimwit, he understood instantly the attack on Hyoyeon had been a distraction for whatever sinister plan someone had."Search every corner of the palace for my son"  The guards were already on it. Blocking all exits. Minho was on his device ordering the other guards to search the palace thoroughly. A child couldn't go missing in the midst of more than hundred or so people. Someone took his son and Kai was certain whomever they were hadn't gone far even if they had managed to slip out of here. A person that could attack his mom in mist form and render two grown hellacats unconscious as well as bypass a goddess wasn't someone to take lightly. But no matter how powerful they were, when Kai get his hands on them, they were going to regret ever coming to existence. Kai would unleash his all on them. "Majesty!" Jungkook finally appeared, tucking in his shirt, at same time running his fingers through his hair to tame the stands. "What happened?" A gun in one hand and a dagger in the other, the shadow guard didn't look like he had probably been napping moments prior.  Kai gestured at Chanyeol that was nearby, also scanning the room, while holding onto Baekhyun as though afraid his boyfriend would disappear too if he let go. "He will fill you in." Like a thunderstorm, Zach stormed into the room, his heavy paws causing the ground to vibrate as he moved, roaring at the sight of his mate laying unconscious. Almost all the people in the room cowered, trying to get as far away from the black cat as possible. Especially as ring of smoke rose around his claws to form clouds, hot as a live wire. Tantalizing electric charges jumped inside the formed gray cloud, flickering like distilled lightning. It only took a little electricity to stop a heart, a tiny lightning strike that would leave a tiny scar on Zach's body. One of many whenever he used this certain ability. "Zach calm down." Kai said, cautiously stepping in front the black cat to block him form advancing. It was a risky move even for him. Standing in the way of Zach when his attention was solely on Lyla was utterly dumb. But Kai knew what the black cat was capable of. He had to take the risk. "No!" The cat shook his head, "She's hurt." His blueish purple eyes darted to the other side, where Lyla was. It had been over a week since the wild cat had joined the palace, to live with them, and five days since his mating with Lyla.  Their bond was fresh and fragile. Kai feared Zach would lose control and hurt people. "She's just knocked out. Not hurt." He told him. Zi and Lui rushed into the room which sent more people into frenzy. Both cats didn't bother with anyone as Lui made for his sister, but halted the next moment when Zach growled his way. Lui tried to ignore him, something he was good at, however his own mate Zi grabbed him by the neck, shaking his head.  "Lui, don't test him." Kai warned the white cat, that had struggled out of Zi's grip and made another attempt to reach Lyla."I know you're worried, but back off." Zach and Lui growled at each other, tails raised. It appeared like a bloody fight was about to occur, but then Lui conceded, lowering his head as he took a step back. Satisfied, Zach huffed, turning his attention to Kai. "You sure is she fine?" He asked, holding his breath. Zach was the first male Hellacat that Kai had met, with telepathy amongst his many powers. It was after meeting the black cat that he truly understood why many people wanted him. But of course Zach couldn't be tamed. His mental capacity was beyond anything Kai had seen in any hellcat and human alike. Kai often wondered if Zach was more than he appeared to be. If spirit animals were not extinct, Kai would have thought Zach was one. Spirit animals were once a race of sentient animals able to take on human shape at will. They were native to Oli, and it was said those beings were what gave the spirit users their ability after forming a bond with them. Kai wasn't sure though, because it had been millennials since one existed. What shocked Kai even more was how Zach took a sudden liking to him, the moment they met was like friendship at first sight. There was a connection that Kai couldn't explain but felt it deep in him. Though Zach enjoyed Kai's company, but he often than not ignore him when in the presence of people. The wild cat wasn't a people's person – eh cat. Even the other cats tend to keep away from him. Zach was aloof and reserved that prefer to observe than engage himself with anyone. There was the hint of distrust in Zach's eyes for the humans. And Kai was certain there was a story behind it. Even so Kai knew Zach cared deeply for the few that were worthy of his trust. Honestly Kai had expected Zack to hit it off with Sehun instead, considering Sehun was a cat too, like a cat to cat thing. They did have that cat to cat thing, though. Because other than Kai, Zach seem to like Sehun very much and the twins even though he didn't show it and probably never would. Well there was no way he wouldn't like Sehun, especially knowing how much Sehun meant to Lyla. The black cat was devoted to his mate and naturally the ones Lyla cared about. "Oh" Zach deflated, sitting on his hind legs, "I felt her fear and thought something happened to her." "She's fine. I promise" Kai told him once again, reaching to gently his head and of course Zach let him. Blinking his eyes, Zach titled his head, gazing behind Kai. "What is wrong with your mate? Where is little red?" Zach asked and Kai felt the confusion in his tone. Little red was the name he called Jae-in, due to the boy's wisps of red hair. A stabbing pain grabbed Kai at the reminder. With little words, Kai recounted what happened.  "Kai," Wei Ying called, and Kai gazed his way. Lan Zhan, Wei Ying and Blink were looming over Sehun, with a uniform expression, that of parents lost on what to do to ease their child.  Few days back, while Sehun was fast asleep and Kai was left with the Lans to put the babes to sleep. Blink had suddenly appeared and confessed to being Sehun's biological mom.  Lan Zhan and Wei Ying didn't seem surprised, like they had known all along, but had chose not to acknowledge it. Sehun had said nothing really fazed Lan Zhan and Kai could see that. Despite the knowledge of Blink being Sehun's biological mom, the Lans didn't make it a big deal. Lan Zhan had calmly pointed at Blink, declaring Sehun was their son and forever would be. Which the goddess only smiled to and responded with. "I couldn't hope for a better family than what he has. Though i gave birth to Sehun, but it doesn't give me the right to monopolize him, I want you to rest assured I am not here to steal your child. I just want to be a part of his life, if you would let me." She had an expression that nearly broke Kai's heart as she added. "I've been absent from his life for too long." The silence stretched, eventually Lan Zhan let out a sigh. "It's up to Sehun if he wants that." The ice mage told her and Blink nodded without more words. "Kai?" Wei Ying's tone snapped him back to reality. He looked back to the trio. 'Do something' Lan Zhan mouthed, head jerking toward his son.  Sehun needs you more than any of us. Blink sent him, her eyes almost pleading. "Go to your mate." Zach told him, reaching his own mate as he began to her face. Whatever drug she was sedated with was really strong. She didn't stir even with her mate's presence. Kai walked over to Sehun that was surrounded by his guardians, however none of them made an attempt to touch him, they just stood there as if guarding him against some hidden danger. Jumnyeon nodded at Kai, stepped aside so that Kai would reach Sehun.  His consort was holding Aurora as though his life depended on it. He was hyperventilating and that wasn't good, Sehun could pass out and even more dangerous he was holding a baby. "Hey Sehun!" Kai called in the most gentle tone he could muster. Sehun dazedly stare at him with wet eyes. Good he was responsive though slowly. "Kai!" He murmured the name like a prayer. Grabbing the back of his neck, Kai dropped a kiss to Sehun's forehead while gently reaching for Aurora. Sehun didn't resist, he let Kai take her from his arms. Kai passed her over to her grandmother that readily took her."I am here." Kai said, cupping his face with both hands, it softly."Breathe with me Sehun." Luckily Sehun had his whole focus on Kai, that way it was easier to guide him. Sehun listened and did everything Kai asked. Moments later he was able to breathe on his own without needing Kai's assistance. "Jae, he's –" Sehun began, dragging in a shuddering breathe, eyes going from his mom to his fathers. Zach walked slowly to bump against Sehun gently. It was his way of offering comfort. "We'll get him back." Kai vowed, pulling Sehun into his arms. Sehun clutched him, nodding his head so fast Kai feared he would become dizzy. "We have to." He mumbled against Kai's shoulder. "I heard the cats growling and didn't bother to look thinking it was nothing. If only I had –" Kai felt despair stab deep inside of him."It's not your fault. If you've noticed and alerted anyone, they would have hurt a lot of people, even you." The thought of Sehun hurt sent a twist to his chest, more than it did with his mom. Dealing with such a powerful foe they had to thread carefully. Since the moment he was born, no one had been able to hurt his mom, and it wasn't the lack of trying, it was simply because Hyoyeon was out of their league, she was powerful than most.  One of the best female martial artist with amazing senses. Before she became his mom, she was once a general, the youngest and the best female soldier. Hyoyeon had fought alongside and trained outstanding soldiers Varal was proud of today, one of the reasons she was highly respected. Even as a strong dragon born, Kai wasn't certain he wouldn't go down if paired in a real fight with his mom. Anyone able to hurt her so easily was someone to fear. Alright. It scared Kai to the bones. Something he wouldn't admit out loud to anyone. Zach snorted, his tail hitting Kai as went back to Lyla. "I noticed." He sent Kai like the arrogant sassy little he was. "Your fear." Ignoring Zach's intrusion of his thoughts, Kai focused his whole attention on Sehun. His mate needed him. "Still It would have prevent it. I failed him." Sehun argued, sniffing. Kai pulled back so that he could look Sehun in the eye."No Sehun if anyone is to be blamed between us, it's me. I am the one that failed our son, and you." Jae being taken right under his nose was a bold move, a challenge to his role as a father, a husband as well as his sovereignty.  Abruptly jerking to his paws, Zach left Lyla's side, going in circles in a particular spot. Strange. Kai was curious of what the cat was doing, however before he could ask, Blink grabbed his attention. "I felt a presence just before Hyoyeon dropped to the ground." Blink said, rocking Aurora. The girl had been screaming, most likely feeling the absence of her brother. Blink had said not to let the twins be separated, he wondered what would happen if Jae wasn't found in time."But before I could do something about it, it vanished." Irene reached out and Blink let her take Aurora. It was like magic, the babe quietened Instantly, letting out cute hiccups. The Raven frowned. "Why does she seem to like you better?" She asked, suspicious eyes fixed on Irene. Lui snorted, and when Blink pinned him a hard look, Zi subtly stretched his body, so that his mate wouldn't be in Blink's direct line of sight. "I am her Aunt." Irene simply stated, placing the girl on her shoulder. Soft sighs escaped Aurora before her breathes even out. She was fast asleep. "Majesty, the whole palace has been searched, no sign of the prince or the one that took him." Minho jogged to report with a grim expression. "Why don't you let them go first?" Jungkook gestured around the guests that had huddled in one side of the room, their eyes that of animals in a slaughter house. "Keeping the guest here is not going to help. They'll just get in the way." Chanyeol agreed. Kai ordered Chanyeol and Jungkook to keep an eye out for anyone suspicious as the people were led out of the ballroom by Minho and his team. "He has to be found soon. Being apart from Aurora will make that energy in them both unstable. The effects could be catastrophe." Blink said when all the outsiders were gone. "Can't the mothers help?" Wei Ying asked, his wings fluttering agitatedly. Blink shook her head. "They rarely involved themselves with mortal affairs. So I am afraid we're on our own." "Heechul you're a priest maybe they would heed your plea" Wei Ying turned to  face the grandmaster. "Or you could find him with your visions." "Hyoyeon was hurt right under my nose, my grandnephew taken, do you think I would wait for someone to tell me to do what I am supposed to?" He shook his head. "I've tried many times since the moment we learned he's gone. "His uncle said, leaning against the pillar at the center of the room. "All I see is darkness, and when I tried reaching out to the mothers it was like a com-devise without reception."
