What is happening? Sehun asked himself, eye unblinking on the Harpy. Even though Blink was able to take human form, it shouldn't be this–"How are you looking like this?" "What do you mean like this?" She glanced down at herself, as if to understand what Sehun meant"I get that I never showed you this side of me, however this is how I've always looked like, the Raven is my glamour." She paused, gazing into his eyes. "I also know I sounds different in this form that what you're used to. But I am Blink." She tapped her chest got emphasis. "Your Mama Blink." No, she was lying. Because If it were true, it meant Blink was his mom's lookalike or probably his mom herself. How could that be possible? Beside she would recognize Sehun if she was his mother. "I–" Sehun began to say only to be interrupted by Kai's frantic voice. "Sehun! Sehun where are you? Are you alright?"  He glanced to the emperor. He looked roughed up, like he had been in a fight. Which might be the case considering what just went down at the estates. Tucking away his weapons, Kai rushed toward him, a look of fear on his face at sight of blood, probably thinking it was Sehun's. Sehun suddenly had a sense of Deja Vu."Are you hurt?" He reached Sehun, taking a hold of his hand, lifting his shirt to check for injuries. "It's the first time I felt you used a lot of my dragon fire." "Yes I had to, but I am alright." Sehun told him, stopping Kai before he lift his shirt any further. "The death mage told me you saved Hyunjin, Thank you, I couldn't get here fast enough and don't know what would've happened If you weren't there for him." He grabbed the back of Sehun's neck, bringing their foreheads together.  Sehun inhaled deeply, using Kai's scent to calm his unstable nerves. "Yeah." He breathed out. "I wouldn't be so sure about that." Another voice said that sent a shiver down Sehun's spine for some reason. "What are you talking about?" Kai pulled away to ask Jennie. Jungkook and a dozen of other guards with her. "We're asked to to take him into custody."Jungkook said pointing at Sehun, from where he stood a few feet from them. "Take him?" The emperor frowned. Seriously? Sehun shook his head internally. Well that was quick. "Yes, to the cold palace." Jungkook bowed his head as if ashamed to look Sehun in the eye. Now more than ever Sehun was certain Hyunjin's attack tonight– the night of Irene's wedding meant someone made it so that Kai would suspect him. It was no coincidence the attack happened at such moment. "I give no such orders, so whose orders are you following?" Kai asked, pushing Sehun behind him to face his personal guard. "Mine." The queen dowager said, strolling as though she had all the time in world.  Sehun noticed the crowd of onlookers had disappeared, only the royal guards stood where they had been. Two of which were holding Bang Chan to his knees. The boy was still in daze, and Sehun's ached for him. Interesting. So this time they were using Hyoyeon to get Sehun, since apparently they couldn't get to him through Kai. However one factor reminded, the same in both timelines, Hyunjin was the trigger shot at him. "Mother I am lost." Kai sounded genuinely lost, that sent a pang of pity to Sehun's heart. Sehun wanted to have a 101 with the mastermind. He needed to understand what they had against him, what Sehun had ever done to wrong them. Why they had a strong grudge against him. Sehun was no fool, he'd given it some thoughts over and over and came to the conclusion that it was him the mastermind was after. He was the target from the get-go. Kai, Hyunjin and anyone that happened to get targeted were just caught in the middle of whatever, vendetta– game the person was playing to get to Sehun. But why? The question remained. As much as he could remember, Sehun had never wronged anyone in the past to warrant such hatred. It was almost personal. Another possibility was that, Sehun was the only one that could stop the mastermind from achieving their evil goals. Thus they needed him locked up not to get in the way. And though not part of the plan, some people – mostly the concubines had been helping the mastermind unknowingly. Like Mark. "Clearly." The queen said, watching her son with open sadness."What are you waiting for?" She waved at the royal guards. Some hesitated, while the rest rushed to do as told, however Kai blocked their path, his posture tight. "No one is taking him." His tone left no room for argument. "I know you'll be like this that's why I came prepared." From inside her skirts Hyoyeon brought out a box, opening it to reveal the Royal sigil. The shape of a dragon, made of pure gold. With the seal one could command the army of Varal. Now Sehun didn't need to wonder how she was able to overrule Kai's authority. Anyone that held that seal was the boss and the guards would obey them. Probably even the shadow and flower guards. Jennie was part of Hyoyeon's clan, it wouldn't surprise him If she didn't need the seal to get the first consort to side with her. Kai gasped."Mother when–" "When you were busy ing him." She spat the words, dark eyes on Sehun. If looks could kill Sehun would be dead by how hard she was glaring at him, not at all trying to hide her distrust and disgust, that were solely for him. What sort of thing happened to change her mind? Sehun had thought even though she didn't like him, they would at least be able to tolerate each other for Kai's sake. "What crime did he commit?" Kai asked, his hold on Sehun tightened slightly. Jennie stepped forward, like she'd been waiting for that question. "With the help of his maid servant he'd been feeding the prince a substance to weaken him and have him killed when he was vulnerable. The evidence found in her room matches what Seokjin detected after running a test on Hyunjin.And since third concubine became Hyunjin's second parent, he's been in charge of the prince's food. So it is high likely he made her to do it." Oh c'mon. Evidence could be fabricated. Wait what?Maid servant? They meant Wendy. They wanted to get rid of her again. The girl was no threat to anyone, she was originally human with no magical powers. Or maybe she was just convenient for them, a scape goat. Try as they might,Sehun wouldn't let her get hurt. "No,no" Blink mumbled, shaking her head. Sehun had forgotten she was still there. "It's not true– some is trying to pin this on Sehun. He's innocent." She said firmly. "I agree with you." Kai nodded her way. "I will get to the bottom of this." "And who are you?" Jennie asked, her eyes assessing Blink. "I've never seen anything like her." Hyoyeon seem to understand what it meant, because she jerked her head in a nod. Before Sehun could let out a sigh. Loud growls had him gazing behind to see Lyla and Lui padding toward them. Both arched their back, fur bristling and tails lashing back and forth. This was bad. They were going to attack anyone that they perceived as a threat to Sehun. Lui bared his teeth, his ears pressed back against his head, his angry growls aimed at the Queen. "The audacity." The Queen frowned, attention on the fast approaching hellacats. "I won't hesitate to have them put down." She said pointedly to Sehun.  The guards were already aiming their guns at the cats. Though powerful but they're not invincible. They could get hurt and that was the last thing Sehun wanted. Lyla stand down, both of you. He sent quickly, We have to protect you. She sent back. Zi and Zia are on the way too. No, stop them. Shaking his body, Lui let out a frustrating roar that had the guards flinching, but halted in his tracks. Go now. Were these people simply dumb or ignorant? Why would Sehun go to such hassle just to get rid of Hyunjin? He could have done it without calling attention to himself. Why couldn't they see this was what the mastermind mind wanted? Have Sehun locked away, while they carry out with whatever sinister plan they had or probably because they hated Sehun. Kai shook his head furiously, his hand grabbing Sehun's."He didn't do it. I know him. I believe in him." Hyoyeon scoffed."Not directly. One medical/magical test was all it would take. Well . This time the mastermind got him good. "Sehun?" Kai snapped him out of his musing. "Speak to me! Is it true?" He pleaded. How would he convinced Kai the child inside him was actually his, not some bastard he brought into the palace, like they accused him of. Anything he say now would be fruitless and pointless. Kai began shaking his head, taking a step back as if to get away from Sehun or the reality altogether. The note slipped from his hand, and Sehun was able to have a look. There was nothing to laugh about, but he couldn't stop. He sounded hysterical even to his own ears. He was ed, alright. The look in Kai's eyes was enough to tell him he was truly screwed. Kai might have believed Sehun never meant Hyunjin harm, however with the latest discovery of his pregnancy, it would be hard. Kai's eyes said it all.
