Sehun didn't know how far he'd chased after the tracker, not until he found himself in the woods, far away from the capital, right by a familiar cliff. But there was no sign of the tracker. It was as if he had imagined it and his paranoia had led him thus far. Using his super senses, he observed his surroundings to check for any sign of teleportation. There was no residual sign of portal new or old. Still he went around searching around the woods now with air and fire magic, but found nothing.  He went in circles until he was back at the cliff again. Realizing it was likely his imagination, he out a breath, shutting his eyes and Inevitably, his mind took a dark turn, to the moment he never wished to relived. At this very place. Originally Sehun wasn't of this world. From what his mother told him and the things he could recall as a child, Sehun and his sister had been brought here to escape their father. A cruel griffin that cared for nothing. All he ever wanted was power, and because of said power, he was willing to sacrifice his children to wake a being so powerful that it could destroy not just Sehun's original world but Varal as well. The demigod had been imprisoned by the strongest witches for a thousand years.  It was natural to find ed up people everywhere, and Sehun's world wasn't an exception. There was a faction of people that believed the demigod should be freed for no particular reason other than bringing destruction and his father was one of those.  Sehun's mother was a descendant of the most powerful witch from a prominent family and had numerous men seeking her hand in marriage. Out of her many suitors, she had chosen Sehun's Dad, even though they weren't meant to be. Though a tycoon, but his father was an ordinary griffin with ordinary magic, while his mom had been a little different. Her abilities had been why those men wanted her. In Sehun's world almost everyone was a Griff, mixture of a bird and something else, like Lupagriffs, Tigregriffs, Leopardalogriffs, Ursagriff, Elefantagriff, Taurogriff, and the list went on. However some were something different, like his mom. There was another race. Harpies, powerful birds that could take on human form, however their wings was the only thing that couldn't blend, even in human form, the massive wings remained, it was one characteristic that differentiate them from the normal griffs. His mom was one of those. She was a blue thunderbird– elemental bird that specifically use the powers of storms and weather– also an Osmotic witch, which were extremely rare almost as rare as Fenigriff, who expelled nothing but energy. Osmotics could transform energy, take it, and modify it to their needs. There hadn't been an osmotic witch and a Fenigriff, at least not in resent centuries. That wasn't the only things made Sehun's mom exceptional. She had surprised the whole nation when she gave birth to twins, they were almost unheard of. Twins were considered a curse, and the Great witches had put a spell to stop their conception for good reason. But it didn't completely eradicate the possibility of having them once in a while. For centuries, Sehun and his sister were the fifth pair to exist, since the sealing of the demigod. Sehun hated he was one of those born as a pair. Truly the birth of twins was a curse. He strongly agree. Because one of twins had to die in the end. Which was cruel, to have two children and watch the the other die on their eighteenth birthday. Sehun and his sister's birth had caused an uproar and they had been hunted since birth. One faction wanted them dead as babies while the other wanted to keep them alive for eighteen years before they were sacrificed. In other words both factions wanted them dead ,which was ed up. It was believed a pair from a powerful witch would be born when the time to wake the demigod came. Sehun and his sister might not even the ones needed to wake him, however no one cared to make sure. They were twins and that was all mattered to them. His father was elated, while his mom feared for her children knowing what fate would befall them. As a mother she had a lot to worry about. She not only had to protect them against those that wanted them, but also from themselves. Hence she raised them to love, and care for each other believing it would prevent the infamous merging from happening. The merge happened at the age of eighteen. The twins would have a power contest, in which the strongest would survive after absorbing the weaker's powers. A tragic fate that she had tried to prevent. Yet Sehun had still ended up killing his sister and taking her powers, becoming the Fenigriff he was. Mostly the champion twin retain their Griff form, only much stronger, but Sehun had been different. From a normal griffin to a Fenigriff. A sob tore through him, taking Sehun to his knees, as the memories continued to roll. With threats looming over her children, his Mom had taken the decision to escape with them. They had been on the run for years, settling in villages and would move again when found until they found Varal by chance as though the portal was made just for them to find– now that he knew about the prophecy, it was likely he was led here to save a world he didn't originally belonged in. When they stumbled into it, the portal had shut itself. It had reminded so, however not for long, a year later, they had found them again, the persistent bastards. At that time his mom was working as a cook in a brothel in Peño, she had barely managed to escape the trackers with her twins. And they ended up back to where it had began. To her horror, the portal linking the two worlds was wide open, and they could see the other side as though it were a part of Varal. An army of trackers had came through, and she had exhausted herself to battle them for hours, with no help whatsoever. More wouldn't stop coming, she had to make the ultimate sacrifice for her babes. She had sealed the portal for good, with her all of her thunder force, that resulted in her demise . She disintegrated, nothing of her remained, but not before telling them to survive, how much she loved them and to protect each other no matter what. Sehun wasn't sure which of the faction sent for them, but he had a feeling it was the one his dad belonged in. Even as kids, both understood, they didn't have time to mourn and needed to be strong and keep going in other to survive so that their mom's sacrifice wouldn't be in vain. As the older twin, Sehun had taken his mom's words to heart, a little too much. The two had roamed the woods, had survived thanks to their hunting skills. They held on for a few days before being found again, by the trackers they had evaded in Peño. His memory was a little hazy, due to how he tried to keep them locked, but he remembered bits and when put together he could tell what had happened. Seeing the trackers a second from taking them had done something to Sehun. He knew he had to protect his sister as well himself. In an attempt to do that, he had unleashed his powers, all of it and unbeknownst to him, it had been a bad idea. That much power had called out to his sister's, away hers, while she cried and begged him to spare her. But Sehun was in daze, all senses focused elsewhere, due to fear. It didn't justify his actions, Sehun hadn't stopped until every ounce of power left his sister. His body hadn't been ready to wield such power, causing him to faint afterward. When he came to, he realized he had burned the trackers –to ashes– sent for them and sister was no were in sight. The only evidence of her existence was a piece of tattered cloth, and a charred wrist. He had searched frantically for her, refusing to accept the possibility she might have died with the trackers. Sehun had scraped his hands and knees going down the cliff, hoping she had fallen and had survived. Without her body, he didn't want to believe she was no more. But when nothing was found even after pushing himself to keep searching for days. Sehun began to entertain the idea, he might have really killed his sister. Climbing up the cliff, he had used his bare hands to dig a grave and burry what was left of her. Filled with self hatred and grief, Sehun lay there waiting and hoping for death to claim him too. Eventually he lost conscious. When he woke again, Sehun had forced his mind to forget what had happened, and had buried his Fenigriff along with his memory. It was at that time the Lans found him roaming aimlessly. For more than ten years, Sehun had lived guilt free. Until his eighteenth birthday. With his body fully matured it was natural for the beast to come out, weather Sehun was ready or not. And it wasn't just his beast that surfaced, the memories and guilt he had forgotten came in waves. Sehun had to live with them and– Suddenly, Sehun had a vague impression of doom and danger that made him realize he had to snap out of his thoughts. He looked around. There was no one around. Maybe it was just his internal conflict. Sehun's sense of apprehension grew. And then he heard a low roar from behind him.  An animal stood behind him, growling. It looked like a black bear with scales instead of fur, large with massive claws. It grimaced a smile, and blood bubbled from between its monstrous teeth and oozed out of its mouth. A Peño bear. However an usual one. This animal wasn't known for violence, only when extremely provoked. They were mostly used in farms for transporting heavy burden. The most important question was; what was a Peño bear doing in Lexn? Sehun looked back up at it, smiling and raising his hands in what he hoped it would perceive as a harmless gesture of supplication. The bear ran toward him instead. Definitely not normal. Not good. So much for his sense of impending doom being an internal personal conflict. Sehun stood and bolted to the side and made a run for it. He didn't have a weapon on him, which was a stupid mistake. He should have carried one even though he wasn't with Hyunjin. At least he should have at least carried his paladin's sword, in other to have access to the goddesses radiance. He could feel the creature gaining on him, heat radiating from it, it easily caught up.  What the ? How could it when, he was using super speed? It shouldn't be able to. The bear roared and trees swayed. Sehun covered his ears.  I help his beast offered. No Please, Cub must safe Sehun couldn't let his beast out, not here. He could shift, easily take care of the threat, however couldn't risk exposing himself, it was daytime anyone could be watching. The same person that sent the creature after him. It was under someone's influence. Sehun guessed that much. The massive animal struck out and knocked Sehun down with a paw. . It was either his super speed wasn't working or the animal had it too. The ground came up suddenly. Sehun lay there, stunned, and the beast’s claws gouged into his chest and dragged him closer, Sehun's back scraping the stones. Pain made everything bright, everything slow and agonizingly clear. Sehun felt boneless, without strength, as if the bear was away his strength. A claw ripped through his left arm, and Sehun grabbed it feebly with his right. As soon as he did, his body pulsed. The blood pounded rhythmically in his veins, and he could feel himself getting full, a sated heaviness overwhelming him.  Strength surged into his arms, pulsing through his body. He kicked in rage, and with such force that the bear's jaw shattered, and the beast dropped Sehun, howling in shock. Sehun kicked again and felt his foot shatter through the massive beast’s leg as if it were balsa wood. The bear crumpled to the ground beside Sehun. Rolling over, he slammed his fist into the its nose. With a sick crunch, Sehun felt his fist pass through bone and flesh. He pulled out his hand and slimy, hot innards oozed between his fingers. The wounds on him began closing up as he knelt there panting, gazing at his hand while trying to puzzle it out. This was the second time something like this happened. During his fight with Jang, Sehun had caught a bullet and absorbed it's energy. He'd thought it a one time occurrence and never pondered deeply, but now he knew it wasn't. Though it was like his mom's ability, but Sehun had never had it, hadn't inherited it, neither did his sister. Or maybe it was an ability tied to the Royal bloodline? Cub take from mother. His beast supplied, with a breath like he couldn't understand how Sehun was so dumb not to see something so obvious. So this wasn't his ability or the Royals, like with the dark visions. But his mother's. Goddesses! His cub wasn't just a Fenigriff, but it had his mom's powers. A part of his mom that Sehun thought lost forever. And that made a smile to curve Sehun's face despite himself, as he placed his hand on his belly.  "You took after grandma, I am so glad you did." As though responding to Sehun's words, the fetus pressed against Sehun's palm. Cub happy. His beast told him. Cub protect us. Another growl sounded and Sehun had a second to move aside before a horn was his way, aiming for his chest with precision, however it tore through his thigh instead. Damn what the hell was going on. Where were they coming from? He hadn't seen any animal earlier. This time it was a bison like creature, native to Oli. Another known for its calm nature in the wrong region. But there was nothing natural about it too. Someone was gathering and turning domestic animals to vicious predators. It charged again, this time catching Sehun by the side of his head as he tried to stand up. His head pounded in agonizing pain, and blood ran into his right eye. But he had no time to think, he had to defend himself. He had to act.  Sehun gripped the horn in a hand and tore the horn off, while using the other to punch through its jaw. His hand went through, easily, breaking skin and bone and whatever the the creature was made of. He pulled his fist back, wrenching off the creature's jaw.The bison collapsed, blood everywhere. Sehun slid off it and breathed deeply. His heart beat frantically. He looked over to make sure there were no more. On a surge of pure adrenaline, Sehun scrambled up to his knees, almost got to his feet. Then dizzy confusion flooded him and his right leg folded, tearing pain knifing from his thigh to his knee. He collapsed. He saw the blood pumping from his right thigh. The bone of his kneecap up from a bloody mass of fabric and skin He gasped and collapsed back against the ground, breathing heavily. The hulking carcass of the creature lay motionless beside him, and while he was repulsed and wanted to get away, moving hurt unbearably. Damned it. His previous injury hadn't healed completely and new were added. Sehun was in pain. He tried sitting up, but his head throbbed with agonizing pain– the bison did got him good– and everything blurred. He was going to pass out any minute. He could feel the blood drain from him in alarming quantities. Must protect human. Saying so, his beast pushed to the surface, not completely but in a way Sehun would heal quicker. It wouldn't be good for him to pass out here, thus Sehun allowed the slight shift. That was when he noticed something shimmer around the bison's neck. There was a familiar sensation, it was similar to the one he felt around the blood mages. But this was a stronger, more powerful sensation. It was coming from the beast itself. Sehun narrowed his eyes. He casually stretched his hands forward and felt his fingers almost drawn to the necklace around the beast neck. It had some great source of power there. It felt hot and rank. Sehun tentatively reached forward and pulled out the medallion.
It felt heavy and slimy despite being nothing but gold. Dark sensations crept through Sehun's mind, and he could see them - people and other creatures, hot and unforgiving, howling in rage, banging at the door. Sehun dropped the medallion and wiped his hands instinctively on his pants, as if washing away the contamination. All those animals he saw could be considered domestic depending on the region, however they seemed to have been altered in some sinister way and definitely by a blood mage. What about the people with the animals? They seem like common folks. What the hell was that? He poundered Do you what it might be?  Darkness. His beast told him something Sehun had already figured out. No touch again, bad for prodigy. Prodigy, the name his beast had chose to call their cub, sometimes. More come. His beast said agitated, just as the medallion shimmered, and several creatures emerged. It was like a portal of some sort for the animals only. . Sehun cursed, pushing to his feet that had just healed. It wouldn't do him good to be laying in this situation. His beast grunted. Call help, if not let beast help. Right, he could do that.  Baekhyun, anyone listening, I need you please, any of you, quick I am at– Sehun didn't get to finish what he

Chapter 43: It was my favorite chapter as well, I even read it a couple of times.

There is never a dull moment in the Byun household and I love that Mina is still there with them. It’s also obvious that Baekhyun is her favorite. Little Steph is a sweetheart as well, I am still laughing over Baek and the paternity test. I can’t wait for the wedding.

Kai and Sehun are still the same and it’s hilarious that Kai has absolutely no control over his dragon, especially where his mate is concerned. It was also great to see Sehun send those ministers packing, Hyunjin is the rightful Crown Prince.

Lastly, I also enjoyed Blink visiting and the hellacats still being with Sehun. Thank you so much for this update, I am sure I will read it again before the next one.

Chapter 43: I can see why this was your favorite one to write, I really enjoyed reading it too. My favorite part is how the four hellcats are so protective of Sehun and everyone knows they are there for him, not Kia.

I can't understand why the minister/counselors would think Sehun would oust Hyunjin. Especially this many years later with hearing and seeing Sehun treat him lovingly as his own. I wonder if the minister was thinking of marrying his son or a close relative to the girl to take the throne maybe?

It's cute how Beakhyun is the only one to take Mia to task for changing the natural order/timing of change with her abilities just because she is curious. It only works because she loves and respects him so much and he is not afraid of her or what she can do.
I love his son, and how he had a DNA test to see if he was Chanyeols. The way Chanyeol teases him and laughs about it is fun too.
Thank you for this great chapter looking forward to the next. Hoping you have a good week.

Chapter 42: wow, that was very loving and sweet. Now they are one, both seemed tired but deeply content. Not much to say about this chapter, except glad that they finally mated. Kia just could not help but brag, he will probably regret it, he'll lose control and bam Sehun will be pregnant before the five-year mark.

Hope you had a nice time with your family.
