The bed was cold, Rosé barely managed to convince Suzy to spend the night here instead of getting an Uber at two in the morning. Suzy finally gave in but she insisted on sleeping on the couch in the living room. Rosé wondered if her back is okay because she knows the couch is uncomfortable to sleep on.

She could smell coffee wafting from the kitchen. She smiled, feeling relieved that Suzy hasn't left in the middle of the night or early in the morning. She sat up and took a moment to compose herself. She felt emotionally hung over and anxious about how Suzy would react to her. Rosé couldn't comprehend what happened last night. They were having fun and then suddenly her best friend was mad.

She walked toward the kitchen. She found Suzy at the table, sipping her coffee.

'' Good morning.'' Rosé hesitated for a moment before she decided to join Suzy. She didn't know if her best friend wanted to see her.

'' Good morning Chaeng.'' Suzy smiled '' Do you want coffee ? ''

Rosé nodded slowly and then she watched Suzy pour coffee into her favorite mug. She then set it in Rosé's spot at the table. There were none of the usual good morning kisses or hugs. They didn't ask each other about their plans for the day. Rosé eyed the empty bottle of wine that was unopened before she went to bed.

'' You drank more than you should last night. Do you have a headache ? '' Rosé asked, trying to avoid any topic that would end up in a disagreement.

Suzy set down her coffee cup and looked at Rosé with an unreadable expression on her face.

'' I'm good.''

A strange awkwardness descended, one that was never present between them. They were usually at ease with each other's company. Even in silence.

'' Su, i don't know what happened last night. But i'm sorry if i said something that made you upset with me.'' Rosé lowered her head, staring at her hands.

She heard a sigh across the table '' No, you did nothing, it was not your fault.'' She paused '' I-I ... My back was hurting and i didn't want to ruin the beautiful night we had.'' She lied. Her heart was broken into a million pieces last night and she couldn't bring herself to look at Rosé without feeling this immense sadness especially after she told her to give Ji Eun a chance. She ended up drinking her sorrows away.

Rosé looked at her '' And you didn't tell me because you thought that i would pity you ? '' She was disappointed. The Suzy she knew six years ago would never hide a thing from her. Her best friend has been hiding a lot of things from her lately.

'' The sooner you get used to this the better. I don't need you fussing over me.'' Suzy tried to keep her voice even. Her drunk brain was unable to think clearly.

Something was bubbling in Rosé's stomach '' You slept on the couch when you back was hurting. How can i not fuss over you ? You are being careless.'' She paused '' I spent the night, blaming myself, thinking that i have done something wrong. She paused '' You keep hiding things from me; your father's sickness, the accident, you long recovery, Ji Eun's confession, your pain. I didn't even know that you applied for the judge's position again.
