The Price of Fame
My Rich BoyfriendTaemin POV
Either the birds have undergone some kind of mutation or the remake of Jurassic Park is taking place outside of my apartment building and a giant Tyrannosaurus Rex is running around.
But the loud commotion outside, even though it woke me up before my alarm clock, can't spoil my mood. I am well rested and have slept better than ever.
All is well again between Minho and me. Not only have we made up, we have talked about everything and I can call him my boyfriend and he can call me his.
Even if a dinosaur was about to eat me, it would spit me right back out, because I'm full of love, metaphorically and literally speaking...I really should go take a shower first....
"Good morning." I greet my best friend and roommate in the best of moods.
"...Morning." Kai says slowly. I stumble slightly. He's actually not a grumpy morning person.
"Isn't life beautiful?" I ask him, pouring myself a delicious smelling coffee.
Kai sips his coffee and looks over the edge of his cup at me.
"Taemin...?"
"Huh?" I just can't stop grinning.
"Do you maybe want to stay home today?" he asks me. I shake my head in confusion.
"Why would I do that?" I ask him with an amused smile.
"Well...maybe it would just be better if you stayed home today." He says, looking at me with concern in his big eyes. I lean over to him and give him a good talking to.
"Kai, I'm fine. Everything is all good again between Minho and me." I explain to him so he doesn't have to worry anymore.
"Well..." he interjects gently, however. He doesn't really seem convinced.
"Although I am glad that I can now delete my fake accounts and follow him again through my actual profile."
"I hope with you deleting the profiles, your nasty comments will go away too." I say.
"Well for what he did I think 'You think you look good? Your head is so small that you're only a 9 out of 10!' is not soooo bad." We both have to laugh.
I can still hear a loud noise from outside that I can't make out. It hasn't died down since I got up. I can understand that the morning traffic to work is turbulent, but it sound like The Walking Dead outside.
I have to grin at my comparison. Minho would certainly find it funny.
"What's going on out there?" I want to know and head for the window.
"Wait!" Kai calls out. At the same moment loud knocks hit our door.
"I'll get it." I say, having already got up.
"Taemin, wait!" I hear Kai croak behind me.
What's the matter with him today?
To my utter surprise, Aeg and Yo are standing at my door. If they were door-to-door salesmen, they could sell their cheap hoovers to anyone. You wouldn't dare say no to this dubious looking duo.
"What are you guys doing here?" I ask, puzzled.
"Does this building have a back exit?" Aeg asks me, sounding very serious.
"Yes...why?" Uncertainly I look back and forth between the two of them.
"Have you looked outside or at the news?" Yo asks me, I don't like his tone either.
I don't have time to think about what he just said to me, but I can feel heat rising up inside me.
As I approach our living room window, however, I can already make out a few human heads, but I didn't expect the overall picture.
"What the hell?!" I ask at the top of my lungs.
A human cluster has formed at the bottom of our building. I see many young women, most of them dressed in black and crying bitterly. If I couldn't read their signs, I would think they were going to a funeral service.
"What do they say?!" my voice squeaks in a very high octave.
'Human leech' I read in horror.
'Minho is a flame
You are a shame!'
'Fridays For Future'
Okay I like the last sign a lot. But a young lady is already telling her climate activist friend about it and immediately I can read the other side of the sign as she turns it around now.
'I want Taemin
To be Taemout!'
Actually a funny play on words, if it didn't mean me.
Besides the angry women, I also see cameramen, sound people and reporters.
"What's all this?" I want to know and turn to my fellows.
"Guess you're famous now." Kai holds out his mobile phone to me.
"I'm sorry..." I hear him say in the distance.
I don't need to know the name of the site to know that the 'Sleepless in Seoul' is writing about me.
My breathing quickens with each word I read.
'Prince Choi Minho rescues poor Cinderella' is chosen as the headline in thick black letters.
I have to swallow.
As I scroll down and read the article I see pictures of Minho and me from our short holiday. These are actually beautiful pict
