From Lost to Lu Han

Our South Korean Adventure

“It looks just like it does in the pictures!” I exclaimed.

“I know right?!? The last time I was here, I was leaving Korea, and now I’m back again.” Min Young said

while looking around with a hint of nostalgia.

“So now what do we do?” I asked.

“Well, we need to find the bus that’ll take us to our hotel.” She answered.

So we started looking at the map. First we found the place to grab our luggage, and then, we found the

blue bus that would take us to the hotel that Min Young had booked online a few weeks ago.

Later on…

We finally got to the hotel that was in the middle of downtown Seoul, right beside the Han River. Our

room was on the 15thfloor and the view was incredible.

“Min Young, come take a look out the window!” I cried with delight.

“Omo! It’s amazing! I totally forgot how beautiful Seoul is. It’s been too long… Hey, let’s unpack quickly and

look for a nice restaurant to eat! I’m starving!” Min Young exclaimed.

“Ooo, good idea” I replied. So we unpacked and headed out.

The next morning…..

“Mei, rise and shine!!” Min Young woke me up from my sweet dreams about attending a kpop concert.

“Hurry, lets freshen up and explore more of Seoul! We have 2 weeks before the Harvard-South Korea

exchange program starts!”

I quickly jump out of bed and into the bathroom.

I brush my teeth, take a quick shower, and put on a comfortable outfit. When I finish, Min Young is

already waiting for me. We take the elevator downstairs and grab a quick breakfast. Outside the hotel,

I’m welcomed by the warm sunshine and hustle and bustle of Seoul.

We walk around for a long time just looking around, pointing, chatting, and laughing before we realize that

we were kind of lost. We tried to find places with fewer people walking around, but that caused us to

venture into unknown territory. Nevertheless, we continued to walk, hoping that we would see something

familiar as we went along. The landscape started to thin out, and there was no one around. We continued to

look around to see if there was anyone to ask for directions, but there wasn’t.

Into the distance under a small bridge, I saw a person sitting on the ground. He looked like he was taking a

short nap, so we decided to see if he could help us. As we got closer to him, I realized something was not

right. In my mind, I let out a silent scream before I screamed out loud.

“ AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! Min Young!!! Look who it is!!!” I screamed in disbelief. “its….its…LLL…UUU…..HAN!!!!”
