Our South Korean Adventure

Lu Han’s POV

The past few weeks have been very tiring. Besides our packed schedules, we’ve also had to film CFs and go on a number of

different variety shows. Exo’s manager complimented my improved dance and vocal skills. He says it’s not because my technique is

better, but because there’s more feeling. I’ve been more connected to the songs emotionally, and my dance moves have also

become more passionate. I think it’s largely because of Mei. At the end of the day, my body is sore and all I want to do is sleep,

but when I see Mei, I tend to forget about everything else.

It’s 6:00 pm now, and I’m driving home with Se Hun in the passenger’s seat. Kai’s in the back.

“Hyung, I don’t know if this is the right time to ask, but has Mei told you yet?” Se Hun suddenly questions.

“Has Mei told me what?” I ask surprised.

“Se Hun!” Kai shout from the back interrupting Se Hun before he could answer my question.

“Kai, he’ll find out soon anyways” Se Hun says to Kai.

“Will you please tell me what you’re talking about?” I ask Se Hun ignoring Kai.

“Well, Mei might be going back to America soon” Se Hun continues.

I immediately step on the breaks.

“What?!?” I shout, taken aback. Then I slowly release the breaks after hearing the car behind me honk.

“Calm down, hyung. She hasn’t decided to go or not.” Se Hun says.

“I told you this wasn’t a good time” Kai says from the back.

I relax a little. I guess the news wasn’t that shocking. I knew she would have to leave eventually, but I just didn’t think that day

would arrive so soon.

“What do you mean she hasn’t decide to go or not?” I ask, wondering if it’s possible she could stay.

“Well, she wants to stay here with you more than anything” Se Hun says.

For a second, I’m happy to find out how much Mei likes me. But it doesn’t last long because I know it’s nearly impossible for her

to stay. She can’t give up her family, her dreams, basically her entire life. What should I do? Tell her to forget about me and

leave? But, then she’ll continue to insist on staying. Maybe I should start acting cold to her like in the dramas when the guy wants

to break ties with the girl to protect her…

“Hyung, are you ok?” Se Hun suddenly asks. I realize I’ve been silent for a while.

“Oh yeah, I was just thinking about something” I say trying to sound normal.

“What are you going to do when you see her?” Kai asks.

“I don’t know…” I answer trying really hard to hide the fact that I know exactly what I’m going to do. I just hope Mei won’t get

too hurt, and that I can follow through all the way.

When we reach the house, I take a deep breath preparing myself for what I’m about to do. I walk through the door and see Mei

sitting on the couch watching T.V. with Min Young. When she sees me, she doesn’t run over screaming “Oppa!”(or more like “Ge

Ge!”) like most girls would do. It’s one of the things I like about her; she doesn’t act all cutesy or fake. I signal her to go upstairs

to my bedroom. She follows me as I walk up the stairs.

In the room, I take a deep breath and turn to face her.

“Why didn’t you tell me you were LEAVING?!?!?!” I scream angrily, purposefully trying to hurt her.

“Ugh, it’s not you didn’t know I would have to leave eventually” She says casually, either not realizing or ignoring the fact that I’m

angry.

“What?!? You could at least tell me the date?!?!” I scream trying to get her more worked up.

“Okaaay, in 2 days.” She says with no change in her voice.

I’m now trying to think of what to say next. I thought she was going to resist leaving. I feel like an idiot now, Mei seems totally

unaffected by my anger.

“Lu Han, I know what you’re trying to do, you can cut the act.” Mei raises an eyebrow.

I stand and stare at her with my mouth wide open. She could tell it was an act. Does my acting really that much?

“What’s with you and the whole ‘do what the characters in dramas do’ thing?” She continues. “First it was pushing me on the swing

at the park and now this?” She’s starts to laugh.

Aish, I should’ve known Mei was too smart to trick.

“Sorry, I just thought you were going to resist and I thought I had a pretty good plan.” I say, while secretly cursing Se Hun in

my head for telling me Mei was planning to stay. “So youare leaving?”

“Yeah, I had already gone through all the options in my head and it really is for the best.” She takes my hand and walks me over

to the bed. We both sit down. “It’s not like I won’t come and visit you. And besides, one day, your Kpop career will be over and

you’ll have to rely on me to provide. Right?” She laughs again.

I think about what she says. Wow, she really did think things through. Wait…does that also mean we’re going to get married?!!?

“Yeah, I guess that makes sense.” I say with a sigh trying not to reveal my other thought.

“Are you ready to go back downstairs now?” Mei asks looking at me with curious eyes.

“Yeah, let’s go”
