-I promise that you'll never find another like me-
Sehun was the sort that didn't like to leave their cozy seat at the benches during every game. Despite how much he enjoyed watching sports, he wasn't one to play. He watched the least useful player of their varsity team tackle the ball with a hopeless look. Junmyeon truly rode on his grades and his father's money--the reason he could find a place in the university's soccer team. Sehun watched with beady eyes, Junmyeon couldn't even dribble a ball properly. Such a disappointment, Sehun couldn't help but sigh as he thought.
The audience anticipated with their hearts on their sleeves. Sehun could not help but groan when a much more skilful player from the opponent team snatched the ball from the feet of the hero of his university. "What the hell, he can't play," he hissed under his breath, not expecting anyone to hear that. But the stares he was met with made him gulp. The people around him looked at him like he was the disgrace, and not Junmyeon.
Sitting back, he shifted his gaze. He liked sport, but not any which consisted of his neighbor, Kim Junmyeon. He was only here for Jennie who was to her greatest dismay, in the cheerleading squad this year. Only because she had to join a club to pass the semester and this came the easiest. Though she was a natural at dance, Jennie surely looked uncomfortable doing it in the little skirt with the weird looking pom-poms in her hand. Funny how the university saw cheerleading as an equal to clubs like debate and mathematics. Sehun sat there with the most disinterested expression because he had to take Jennie home after this.
Sehun met her annoyed gaze. Alas, they were both in the same mood. In her short clothes, Sehun could swear she had ninety percent of her body consisting of legs and that just looked weird. Let's go home, he mouthed.
Much to his pleasure, Jennie put up an act of her tummy aching and they were on the way home while trying to keep their eyelids from touching. The fatigue made his shoulders ache. The silence was too comfortable and he could fall asleep anytime now. It was the same for Jennie.
"See you tomorrow," she muttered before dragging her tired body to her door. Sehun lazily waved while standing on the steps of his. Junmyeon lived just next to her and his house was precisely four times bigger than Sehun's or Jennie's, he had measured one afternoon because he was bored. Of course, back then, Junmyeon's family wasn't here. Two steps towards the letter box and the drowsiness of his eyes was gone, replaced with subtle excitement that he didn't want to acknowledge.
He had been checking every day for a week now. Today, he was lucky her words were sitting inside the metal box. Otherwise, he didn't want to admit it, but he wanted to write a letter back asking if she was alright. There was something about communicating through letters in general, something so...romantic and raw. Sehun couldn't help but close his eyes and inhale the pretty scent lingering on the object.
She must be quite affluent to send letters almost every week, he thought. Or perhaps it was her love for Kim Junmyeon bigg
