everything has changed
invisible string-everybody here was someone else before, and you can want who you want-
“Mom left,” he said, his head hanging low.
Jennie squinted, stopping on her track. Sehun did too. “What?”
He sighed, looking at the paved road before walking backwards to stand on the safe sidewalk. Jennie watched him, eyes pooling with concern. “We fought and...she ran away.”
Jennie’s eyes widened in shock before sagging at the corners. She jumped towards him, enveloping him in a tight hug. It reminded him of the warmth he felt from her when his father passed away. Sehun nodded, combing his fingers through her hair.
“So you’re staying with Junmyeon.”
“No...I...Jennie, I’m leaving.”
It shattered his heart to break it to her. Sehun lowered his head to look into her eyes as she processed his words. “A letter came--”
“You’re going to live with Joohyun?” She backed away from him, as if in protest. Her eyes said that that would be a ridiculous idea. Sehun was cut off once again when he wanted to clear the misconception. “You...you don’t even know her, Sehun! How can you take this decision based on her sappy love letters she sends to someone else? What about Yerim--”
“It was from New York University. They’re offering me a scholarship, Jen.”
Everything became quiet. Sehun’s shoulders dropped as the realization seeped into her eyes. Jennie’s cheeks reddened with embarrassment but her gaze filled with a certain longing. Sehun knew his eyes displayed the same. He took her hand and held it tight with both of his.
“It’s important. I hate to do this, but it’s for the best,” Sehun emphasized, “I’ll be back, I promise. And...will you do me a favor?”
“Only if you keep your promise,” she nodded, after a whole minute.
“I will,” he said, without blinking, so sure. “Send Joohyun’s letters to me, to New York, please…” Jennie swallowed at his request. Sehun grew anxious. He felt like he was on the edge of a cliff and the beats of his heart were irregular, ringing in his ears. “Please,” he added, to convince her that he was desperate. He had no shame in admitting so. Joohyun’s letters were a fresh breath of air to him, he couldn’t possibly leave them behind.
“Do you like her? Have you seen her face?”
“I like her,” He answered, “You’d like her too, if you read her letters, Jennie. It’s nothing romantic...I just admire her. And you don’t need to see her face for that.”
Jennie wanted to snort but stopped herself. She nodded, “Fine.”
The bright smile that broke on his face was worth her little answer. Jennie smiled, her eyes were sad. She held his hand tightly. “Have you told her? Yerim?”
Sehun nodded, “She said she’ll be fine...she doesn’t want to stay here either. This town is...haunted for her, she says.”
“How about Jongin?”
“They’ll talk every now and then,” There was a solution to every problem and he had also found the solution to the one remaining problem though her. Jennie thou
