Chapter 8

“I think I should go” Irene said fixing her hair preparing to leave.

“No. Just stay for tonight. It’s already late and I can’t let you leave like this.” Wendy said trying to compose herself as well.

“For someone who rejected me, you sound so concerned.” Irene teases Wendy but when she looked at her she can clearly see the seriousness on her face.

“Because I am. Please it’s the least thing I could do. You can’t be left alone in public at this hour looking like that.” Wendy said.

“Looking like what?” Irene said with a smirk on her face clearly enjoying teasing Wendy.

“You know what I mean.” Wendy blushed. “But seriously you don’t have to leave unless you are uncomfortable with me.”

“Well if you insist. But I can’t promise I’ll keep my hands to myself.” Irene joked but still grateful to Wendy’s concern for her.
 

I woke up on my bed and noticed that someone is sleeping comfortably beside me. I slowly opened my eyes, one after the other, to prepare myself to see who’s the stranger next to me but also to adjust on the brightness of my room. When I completely opened my eyes, I saw a woman who’s sleeping peacefully, tucked against my side with arm draped over my stomach, completely deadweight as she sleeps. slightly ajar but still that did not take away her ethereal beauty from the perfect structure of her face, to a perfectly shaped jawline, and to her pink luscious lips.

She racked her brain to remember what happened last night and pieces by pieces, she finally remembered everything as if completing the last piece of a jigsaw puzzle.

She then remembers no matter how awkward they were last night, she still can’t give away the fact that she finally felt happy and alive with this woman no matter how brief their encounter was.

I stared at her for a few minutes, smiling, hoping she doesn’t wake up right away and trying to savor this moment as this might be the last time she’ll see her. This kind of felt like one-night stand although technically, nothing happened between them. She’s glad that the woman didn’t leave early in the morning and do her version of walk of shame.

I know she’ll wake up soon, and I know how she will feel as soon as she wakes up as that was what I felt moments ago. She’ll probably cover her eyes from the sun while she tries to get up and remember how she got here. Who I am. Where she is. How she can leave this place and get rid of me.

But for now, I looked at the woman again and she remembers what happened last night after she asked Irene to stay for the night. They ended up sleeping next to each other. She tried to explain again to Irene why she rejected her and strangely she even told her what happened to Rosé.

Talking to Irene sounds so easy and comfortable even if she’s not particularly comfortable with their topic. Irene really is a great listener. But it’s not only Wendy who shared something personal. Irene also shared that she’s a
