Days before Exo was to return back to Korea safely Chanyeol got word from SM that Seohyun and him would be reuniting to work on a new movie together and that the productions/filming process would start right away once he was back.

This was why he wasn't able to contact you immdietaly since he didn't want any of the staff to think that he wasn't taking his job seriously.

As to the release of the article it was supposed to about Seohyun and him reuniting to work again since they both worked together previously and so no one thought much about there being an article. However little did Seohyun and Chanyeol know that the news outlet and journalists would make up their own story to get more viewers.

Seeing the article for himself he knew he was screwed and that your heart would be broken, but at the same time due to the virus going around he couldn't just go to your house and no matter how many voicemails or messages he had sent you never responded back to them.

SM tried to get a hold of the journalist responsible for those photos and for writing that article but weren't able to track anyone down.

Soon enough SM ended up releasing an article to confirm that both Chanyeol and Seohyun weren't together and were just working on a film together.

Your POV

As you were completing your midterm when all of a sudden Seulgi ran into your room and pulled out her phone and shoved it in front of your face

(You)-What is this about? are you okay?

(Seulgi)-Yeah I'm fine but look at the article

(You)-Yeah I know I heard it was all just a misunderstanding

(Seulgi)-Why haven't you contacted him yet then?

(You)-I figured we're taking a break in our relationship at the moment since he's clearly busy and so I'll reach out to him when I'm ready

(Seulgi)-So you're giving up on him? he's probably dying to hear from you!

(You)-Well I know that whatever I tell him now won't be the words I meant to say to him since they'll all just be out of anger and betrayal

(Seulgi)-I just don't get you like part of fighting and communicating is needed for a relationship to work, you can't just keep your thoughts and feelings to yourself

(You)-Fine fine I'll call him when my midterms are all finished and I finally get a break

(Seulgi)-that's good to hear, now I'm gonna go binge watch shows on Netflix so byeeee

A week later

On a phone call

(You to Chanyeol)-Hey do you have time to talk?

(Chanyeol)-Yeah of course I've been meaning to talk with you for a while

(You)-Yeah same here, I'm sorry for not reaching out sooner I just needed some time for myself 

(Chanyeol)-No I totally understand it's just I've got some news to tell you

(You)-All good I hope

(Chanyeol)-It is actually, I know Covid is still very much a thing but would you want to come by to my studio tomorrow? It'll just be me and one of my members, I wanted you to come by to listen to our new single if you're interested.

(You)-That sounds all great but do you think that's such a good idea?

(Chanyeol)-What do you mean? do you not want to come see me?

(You)-What no that's not it at all, it's just that I want to see you when things are better and for now I want to take things slow.

(Chanyeol)-Fine (he says sighing out of disappointment) just call or text me once in a while so that I know you're okay

(You)-I will (I said before hanging up)

(Your thoughts)-He sounded so dissapointed was I wrong for not agreeing to meet him? I mean I want to see him but I don't know if I'm ready to face him and come to terms with our relationship.

Was dating him a mistake?
