The first day
Heart on your sleeve, love on your wristThe tattoo of your soulmate's words always appears on your 21st birthday. They don't necessarily refer to the first words you'll ever hear from your soulmate, but refer to the words you'll hear from them that makes you realise that you've fallen in love with them.
The law of the tattoo states that the words will never be said willingly, you can repeat the words tattooed on your loved one's wrist all you want, but it'll never fade until their soulmate says it on nothing but pure emotion.
Once the tattoo fades, it means you've found your soulmate, but unfortunately, the tattoo is not absolute. If you see someone with a blank wrist, it either means they're under 21, or they've already met their soulmates, and are in a happy relationship. There is a third category of people considered to be 'blanked out'. Blanked out people are unfortunate, having already met their soulmate but due to circumstances, are unable to be with them, be it through separation, or unfortunate deaths. Most people accept that they will no longer see their soulmate, with a tiny handful of people being lucky enough to cross paths with their soulmate again. Others are resentful, and very few resort to violence to make sure others experience the same pain as them.
Losing their soulmate in this world, where everyone is supposed to have one.

"I'll try my best, but no–"
"No promises, yes, yes, I get it, do you know how to say anything else? You've always said the exact same thing, "I'll try my best, but no promises", every single time I ask a favour from you," Jennie sighed, rolling her eyes in exasperation, already knowing there's a good chance Jisoo won't actually do it.
"You know me best," Jisoo replied quietly, smiling as she lazily got tugged.
"That's because we've been best friends for like ten years? I've been bugging you nearly every year to promise me that I'll be the first one to read your tattoo, and every y
