Description

A Jennie x Jisoo story, depicting two best friends helping each other find their soulmates.

Foreword

In a world where the words of your soulmate are tattooed on your wrist, it was originally believed to be the first words you'll hear from them, but that's not quite right.

The appearance of these tattoos are unexplained, but the details of what they mean seem to follow a set of rules. No matter what, the tattoos will always stick to them, and has never deviated from them.

First, the tattoos always appear on the wrist on a person's 21st birthday. If the bearer has lost their arms, the tattoo will appear on their chest, above the heart.

Secondly, the tattoos will be words, these words can vary in length, ranging from single words to long sentences that wrap and coil around the bearer's lower arm.

Thirdly, the quotes that are tattooed are the exact words the bearer's soulmate will say. The only exception on these tattoos is hand signs instead of words for those whose soulmates are deaf.

Fourthly, these quotes are not necessarily the first words the bearer will hear from their soulmate, they only refer to the words that their soulmate says that makes them realise that they're in love.

Fifthly, once two soulmates have found each other, the tattoos will fade, signalling that they have already met and that their bond as soulmates has been forged. A few unlucky individuals live their lives with blank wrists, having already met their soulmate but never realising until it was too late.

The sixth rule is what baffles most people, and has never been proven wrong. Most people believe that as long as someone says the words on their wrists to them, that person is then their soulmate, so people who love each other try to forge the soulmate's bond by saying each other's quotes willingly., but these rarely work out, and many of these faux bonds end in heartbreak.

The sixth rule is that these quotes will never be said under influence. No amount of manipulation, or snooping around on other's quotes will forge the bond. Whenever the bearer hears their quote, they always forget that it's their soulmate's words, until they look down at their wrist and realise it's faded away.

The first five rules are behavioural characteristics of the tattoo, rather than a law governing their purpose, so many people consider the sixth rule as the only rule, and because of the sixth rule, it divides people up based on how they approach relationships.

The tattoo guarantees joy, that the soulmate they will find is perfect for them, no matter what. There has never been a single case of two soulmates separating from each other.

Some people understand that it will happen in their lifetime, so they don't actively search for relationships, and wait patiently for their soulmate to appear in their lives one day.

Some people understand that their soulmate will guarantee joy, so some are afraid to try relationships out in the first place, understanding that if their partner wasn't their soulmate, it would always end in heartbreak.

Some people understand that their soulmate will never leave, and choose to date as much as they can while they can, having many relationships to gain experience, and most of these 'relationship jumpers' end their relationships on good terms, understanding the law of the tattoo.

Some are afraid of the law of the tattoo, terrified of its complete govern over their fate, wondering if there's a point to dating or not if a soulmate is already confirmed for everyone.

Ultimately, everyone is grateful for the tattoo on their wrist, for it reminds them that there is someone out there that they are perfect for, and somewhere out there, a person is waiting for them.

The tattoo on their wrists represent the love that they have, and the love they shall receive.

In this world, baring yourself is the norm, to follow the law of the tattoo as you see fit.

You wear your heart on your sleeve as proudly as you bear the tattoo on your wrist.

Chapter 15: And, like that, the "tomorrow we talk" of this story never came.
Well, but I still hope the author-nim remembers this fanfic and hopefully have an epiphany, an inspiration, to complete this story.
I mean, they haven't even kissed yet! That's sad ma'am!
