It’s showcase day for Maria as the entire house wakes up to something simmering on a pan. As Yongsun wakes up and goes to Byuli’s room to change, she sees Eomma and Appa making breakfast for her, Maria, and Byuli.

“Good morning, Yongsun. Breakfast will be ready for you girls in 10 minutes,” Eomma says with a smile.

“Thanks, Eomma,” Yongsun responds and heads to Byuli’s room.

Byuli was already awake and on her phone which meant that she couldn’t see Yongsun come in. Just then, Byuli feels the bed shake and realizes that Yongsun was on top of her.
“Good morning, Byuli. How’d you sleep last night?” Yongsun asks.

“Honestly, it was the best sleep I’ve ever had in a very long time,” Byuli says.

“I’m glad,” Yongsun replies and kisses her girlfriend. Before she can get off the bed, Byuli pulls her down next to her and they both start laughing.

“What was that for?” Yongsun asks.

“Nothing. I just wanted to hear your laugh. It’s so cute. It’s like… a dolphin!” Byuli explains while chuckling.

Yongsun couldn’t help but laugh at her girlfriend’s statement. “I’ll take that as a compliment. You have such a cute laugh too. And when you laugh, your nose scrunches up and it’s the cutest thing in the world!” Yongsun says excitedly.

“Then, I guess we’ll have to help make each other laugh more often,” Byuli says. She then starts to tickle Yongsun with her hands.

Barely able to breathe let alone speak, Yongsun manages to get out of Byuli’s reach. Guess she’s stronger than Byuli thought. She then goes to her suitcase and grabs her clothes for the day.

“Come on, we need to get ready. Eomma and Appa have made breakfast for us and it smells really good,” Yongsun says.

“Alright, I’m getting up. Why don’t you change in the bathroom while I change here,” Byuli stated.

“Sounds like a plan,” Yongsun said while shrugging her shoulders.

After changing, the two exit Byuli’s room arm and arm smiling as they join the rest of their new family at the table for breakfast. There is a full display of their favorite breakfast food scattered across the table.

“Now, let’s say grace,” Appa says as he joins hands with Eomma and Maria. Byuli and Yongsun are confused but follow their lead.

After saying grace, they begin to eat and Maria answers her unnies’ confusion. “We like to pray before we eat. It’s to thank God for our meal. I usually do it before I start my day, I eat, and I get on stage to perform,” Maria explained.

“Ah. Okay,” Yongsun says.

After a fun, laughter-filled breakfast, they clean up their dishes and notice brown paper bags with their names on it. “Oh, don’t forget your lunches. I included your favorites,” Eomma says.

“Awww thanks, Eomma,” Byuli says. “We really appreciate this.”

“Actually, I was thinking about taking them out to the town today. You know, giving them a tour of Jeonju. There’s not much in our part of town, but I promised that I’d show them around,” Maria explains.

“Alright then, maybe this could be tomorrow’s lunch?” Eomma asks.

“Yes, please. Include one for Shelby too?” Maria asks.

“Of course, sweetheart,” Eomma says.

“Thanks, Eomma. You’re the best,” Maria says.

“I know,” Eomma says cheekily.

After saying goodbye to Eomma and Appa, the three get into the car and Maria starts driving to their first destination.

“You know, ‘you’re the best’ sounds like a great song title,” Yongsun points out.

“Got that noted,” Byuli says. “We can work on that when we get back to Seoul. If anyone gets ideas for songs, write it down so that we can go over it.”
“Hey, that’s a great idea,” Maria says. “Makes me think of ‘Girl Crush.’ That’s the first one we came up with so far.”

“Yup! Who knows? Maybe we can all become a group,” Yongsun says. “Ooh! We can invite Shelby to join. We could use her vocals and instrument skills.”

“Noted,” Byuli says. “Wait, I can’t be on stage. I’m the CEO,” Byuli says.
“Ummmm…. Yes you can. Have you not heard of JYP?” Maria says.

“Yeah, but… He’s naturally charismatic and TOTALLY the opposite of me. I don’t know how I can live up to that,” Byuli tries to explain.

“Then don’t. Just be yourself. You’re pretty and -” Maria says.

“Hey, we’re talking about my girlfriend here,” Yongsun says defensively cutting off Maria.

“And I agree with you. I’m just saying what I and others would think. Anyway, she’s also intelligent, and can show a lot of charm and charisma. She just has to get used to being on stage while dancing, rapping, and singing. It’s nothing impossible,” Maria says.

“I guess you’re right,” Byuli says hesitantly.

“You’re right. It’s nothing impossible. We know you can do it especially because of tonight. This is our moment to shine,” Yongsun says. “Also, sorry for snapping, Maria. She’s my first girlfriend so I get a little protective when it comes to us.”

“That’s alright,” Maria says. “Hey, I would feel the same way if someone talked about Shelby like that. Even though we’re not dating, I promised that I’d protect her and that she can come to me if something happens. I’m always gonna be there for her just like she was for me. I don’t ever want to lose her again.”

“That’s a lot to go through for both of you. I’m glad that you were both able to make things right. I can’t wait to meet her tonight. When we go out to dinner after the show, I wanna ask her if she can join MoonStar World. I reviewed the tape she sent in as well as your videos and my whole team loves her. They said that whatever she wants, we can provide,” Byuli says. “She has lots of potential. There’s lots of room for her to grow with us.”

Maria smiles at Byuli, “Thanks, unnie. You’re the best.”

“I know,” Byuli says in the same voice as Eomma.

When they arrive at their destination, Byuli and Yongsun look at the ‘for lease’ sign on the front.

“This isn’t it. I’m just parking the car here so that we can walk around,” Maria says as she starts walking.

“This is my grandpa’s shop. He mostly sells snacks, liquor, lottery tickets, and quick meals. Right next to it is my grandma’s doughnut shop. The reason why they have something different is that they couldn’t agree on what the one property should be. So, Eomma, Appa, and other family members got my grandma a restaurant type of space with a kitchen so that she can make her famous doughnuts with her freshly brewed coffee,” Maria explains. “We can go to both if you want.”

“Sounds great!” Yongsun says excitedly.

As they go into grandpa’s shop, 할아버지 (grandpa) greets them.

“Yah! Maria! You’re home,” 할아버지 says with joy. He goes around the counter to hug his granddaughter. “Look at you, world-famous superstar, eh?”

“I guess you could say that,” Maria responds, smiling. “할아버지, these are my best friends Byuli and Yongsun. They’re visiting from Seoul.”

“It’s about time I met some of her friends from Seoul. I’ve been waiting for so long haha! Look at you two. You look so beautiful and grown-up just like my Maria,” 할아버지 says.

“Thank you very much, sir,” Byuli says.

“Nonsense! Call me 할아버지. You’re family now. You too, Yongsun,” 할아버지 says.

“Of course,” Yongsun says.

“Did you need anything special today, Maria? You know I have some good stuff here,” 할아버지 says.

“I know. We’ll get some snacks,” Maria says. As Yongsun and Byuli get snacks for themselves and Maria, Maria starts talking to 할아버지 in private.

“Hey 할아버지, I signed a contract with a company,” Maria says.

“You did? Which one?” 할아버지 asks.

“Byuli’s. She’s the CEO of a big entertainment company back in Seoul and is providing me and Yongsun unnie with everything that we want and need. This also means that I’ll get to come back more often,” Maria says.

“Really now? That sounds amazing! I’m so proud of you. So proud that I want you to come back and visit whenever you can,” 할아버지 says.

“That’s a deal,” Maria says.

“I’m just teasing you, Maria. I want you to visit, but what I mostly want for you to do is fulfill your dreams. Make them a reality. Is that something you can do with Byuli and Yongsun?” 할아버지 asks.

“Yes, it is. I also found Shelby and Byuli is going to ask her if she wants to join us. Don’t tell anyone about the deal though, okay? No one can know because we’re going to announce it in Seoul,” Maria says.

“I’m okay with that. Just don’t tell your 할머니 (grandma) know. You know how she gets with secrets,” 할아버지 says with a big smile.

“Don’t worry. I won't,” Maria says.

After they finish talking, Yongsun and Byuli have finished their shopping.

Byuli hands 할아버지 way more money than what was asked for. “Keep the change, 할아버지.”

“Are you sure, Byuli?” 할아버지 asks.

“Of course, we’re family now and we have to support each other,” Byuli says with a smile.

“Aww thanks, kid. You’re starting to become my favorite grandchild,” 할아버지 says. “I love you and Yongsun together too.”
Byuli and Yongsun are shocked to hear him say that especially because he’s an elder.

“What? You don’t think I didn’t notice you smiling and holding hands right when you came in and while you were shopping. I may be old, but I’m wise… I see things,” 할아버지 says while giggling. “I’m just messing with you two. You make a very lovely couple and it was lovely meeting you both. Thank you for the money and don’t be a stranger. Come back whenever you want except for when I’m closed and while I’m sleeping. I need my beauty rest too, you know?” 할아버지 says.

The three women couldn’t help but laugh.
“Of course we’ll come back! We’ll be back before we leave for Seoul,” Yongsun says.

“That’s a promise,” Byuli says.

“Well, then I’ll see you soon. Maria, go visit 할머니 (grandma) with them and get some doughnuts,” 할아버지 says.

“We’re going there right now. We’ll see you later. Have a great day. I love you,” Maria says as they leave.

“Bye, I love you too,” 할아버지 says.

As soon as they exit the shop, they see a long line for a doughnut shop across the street that went out the door. It was clear to the three women that 할머니 (grandma) has very famous doughnuts. When they cross the street, they go inside to find 할머니 working by herself.

As soon as they get in, they can hear 할머니 saying, “Yah! Maria! Help out your grandma yeah?” Maria goes straight to the counter with Byuli and Yongsun right behind her.

“There’s many customers and we have 2 registers. If we get your friends to help, you and one of them can ring out of order while we prepare it,” 할머니 says.

“Byuli, you deal with the orders. Yongsun, you work with me at the cash register,” Maria says.

After about 30 minutes the line dies down to no one. They successfully finished their “shift” in the always busy doughnut shop.

“Thank you all for your help. It’s nice to have a helping hand here once in a while,” 할머니 says happily.

“It was no problem. I’m glad we were able to come in,” Yongsun says.

“Why are you all by yourself though?” Maria asks.

“Your eomma was taking care of you and your friends so I didn’t want to bother her. Plus, your cousins are busy,” 할머니 says.

“Maybe they can help out in the morning before school. You can show them your secret ways,” Maria says.

“Maybe I’ll do it soon. I can’t do this forever,” 할머니 says. “Who are your friends, Maria?”

“These are my best friends Yongsun and Byuli. They’re visiting from Seoul,” Maria says.

“It’s lovely to meet you both. You can call me 할머니 if you want,” 할머니 says smiling.

Just then, the bell for the door rings meaning there’s a new customer coming in.

할머니 goes out of the break room to see who it is.

“Hello there, Shelby. What can I get for you today?” 할머니 asks.

“Hi 할머니, I would like one of your glazed doughnuts please,” Shelby requests.

“Right away, sweetheart. Yah! Where are my helpers?” 할머니 says.

In the breakroom, the three women are freaking out.

“We can’t go out there. We’re supposed to surprise everyone tonight, especially Shelby,” Byuli says.

“Okay. Just calm down. I’ll go out there,” Maria says.

“Tell her it’s on the house and that it's from a secret admirer. She’ll like that for sure,” Byuli says.

“Good idea!” Yongsun says.

And with that, Maria goes out of the break room to work the register.

She whispers to 할머니, “You can’t tell anyone my friends are here. They’re a surprise for concert goers tonight.”

“Oh… Sorry, Maria,” 할머니 says. “I’ll remember that.”

Maria goes to the register pretending to ring up Shelby’s order.

“Your order in on the house today, Miss Shelby. Some secret admirer of yours stopped by earlier and wanted to pay for it today,” Maria says.

“Well, in that case maybe I’ll order some more doughnuts then,” Shelby replies. She goes back to 할머니 and gets some more doughnuts. As she’s about to grab the bag of doughnuts, she asks Maria, “Did my secret admirer say that they’re going to the concert tonight by any chance?”

“As a matter of fact, they are. They also want to take you out to dinner with their friends that are visiting from Seoul. They said that they’re dying to meet you,” Maria says with a smile.

“Well then. I guess I ‘m really going to look forward to tonight then,” Shelby says and winks at Maria sending shivers down Maria’s spine.

“I guess so,” Maria says trying to keep her composure.

As soon as Shelby walks out the door, Maria walks straight back into the break room with 할머니, Yongsun, and Byuli staring at her and Byuli slow clapping.

“Smooth. Very smooth,” Byuli says.

“Was that okay?” Maria asks nervously.

“Are you kidding me? That was more than okay. That was fantastic,” Yongsuns says with excitement.

“You did great, Maria,” 할머니 says.

“Awww, thanks, 할머니,” Maria says while hugging her.

Just then, Shelby comes back in and everyone sees it on the surveillance.

“Well, gotta go back out there,” Maria says as she leaves the breakroom.

“Did you need anything else, Miss Shelby?” Maria asks.

“Yes. Can you give my secret admirer something for me?” Shelby asks.

“Of course, what is it?” Maria asks.

Shelby goes around the counter and gives Maria a kiss on the cheek. Both women stand there looking at each other.

“I don't know how to relay that gift, but I’ll try my best,” Maria says.

“Well, how do you think the secret admirer responded to me?” Shelby asked.

“I don’t know. You’ll have to find out I guess,” Maria says trying to keep up her game.

“Then I guess I’ll have to wait and see,” Shelby says. “Thanks for your help, Miss Maria.”

“You’re welcome, Miss Shelby,” Maria says.

As soon as Shelby leaves again, Maria goes back into the breakroom.

“I got it on video if you wanna keep it,” 할머니 says and everyone starts laughing.

As 할머니 closes up, she gives some leftover doughnuts to the three women.

“Enjoy these before the concert tonight,” 할머니 says. “It’s a ‘thank you for helping today’ gift.”

“We will, thanks 할머니” Byuli says.

“We’ll see you at the concert tonight,” Maria says as they cross the street to go in Maria’s car.

As soon as they reach Maria’s car, everyone’s hungry.

“Alright, let’s go get lunch. I’m starving,” Yongsun says.

“Okay, let’s go to Castle on the Hill,” Maria says. “It’s the best restaurant in town.”

“No objections here!” Byuli says.

“Okay then, let’s ride,” Maria says.

When they get to Castle on the Hill, the place is full. However, Maria made reservations for a private room the day before just for the three of them to relax. The interior looks like a European castle filled with luxurious items all around. Both Byuli and Yongsun couldn’t believe their eyes. It was one of the most glorious places they’ve ever seen. While going to the back of the restaurant, Byuli says to Yongsun, “We so need to go to Europe.” Yongsuns just nods her head in agreement.

When the doors opened to the private room, they couldn’t believe their eyes. It was their own private quarters with the most beautiful view of the city. They’re greeted by waiters and the head chef.

“Welcome to ‘Castle on the Hill.’ We are blessed by your presence here today,” the head chef says.
