Chapter 9/?

“What is it that you want? You know that I’m busy this time of the year” the coldness of the latter’s voice sends shivers down her spine as it still affects her even after so many years.

“I’m sorry Sir, but I have something that needed to be discuss with you” The blonde beauty says with such monotonous tone. She couldn’t help but do so.

“This better be worth my time”

“Jennie is missing Sir”

There was a pin drop silence and all the blonde haired beauty could hear was the pounding sound of her raging anxious heart. She bit her lower lip, halting herself from trembling. The person who’s on the other line does not need to know the state of her emotion right now.

“Jessica. You and I know that I shouldn’t be bothered by trifle things. This had happen before and I assume that you would take care of this silently? I don’t need another rebellious scandal that’ll affect the company”

“Yes sir”

“Your mother and I will be flying to Milan tonight. There’s a new merger that needed to be discuss with the KRys Company. Text me when you found her. Until then”

Jessica stares at her phone silently as she sits in her empty penthouse. “Jennie” she whispers to no one.

Jennie grips her backpack tightly as she scrutinizes the advertisement paper in her hand.

“Studio Apartment for rent”, written in bold.

Exhausted is an understatement. She has been going out and about the whole night. One more hour of roaming around, she could just pass out on the side of the street and sleep for all she cares. But the thought of dying in the cold winter night makes her second guessing the morbid option.

She turns to look at the house in front of her, a Harlem Renaissance inspired maroon three story building. She called the landlord beforehand and had set up a meeting early in the morning.

She presses the doorbell on her right, waiting patiently for someone to open the door. In mere second,   stood a chubby man with thick rimmed glasses, ogling her from head to toe.

“Miss Kim?”

Jennie offers a handshake and regrets the second it touches the latter’s clammy hand  “Ah, yes That would be me. Are you Mr. Brown?”

“Come in, come in” Mr. Brown says “Take a look around Miss”

A beautiful appointed spacious loft apartment with state-of-the-art Creston Smart Home automation system including full surround system, a 50-inch flat screen plasma TV, speakers in every room along with a remote control lighting and shades. A 13 foot ceilings, huge picture windows with bright eastern exposures, plank wood floors and spiral staircase leading to a lofted bedroom.

“It’ll be 3k rental per month, since everything is newly renovated”

Jennie smiles at the sight in front of her. It’s not as lavish looking as her own bedroom back at her house. But this would do. Her very own small sanctuary.

“I’ll take it”

“Splendid! When do you want to move in Miss Kim?” Mr Brown shares an overfriendly smile.

“If possible, I want it now” Jennie looks around “I’m exhausted and I don’t wish to stay in a hotel any longer.

“But Miss, I need to prepare the lease beforehand” Mr Brown says

“I’ll pay a year rental fee and the deposit now. Is it possible for you to prepare the lease today?” Jennie turns to look at the chubby landlord who eyes widened by the statement. Jennie then took out an envelope and shows the content. “So?”

 “Of course!! That’s easy Miss Kim, no need to worry. I’ll go and do them now. Would you like me to grab anything while I’m out?” Mr Brown lets out a high pitch voice

“No thank you. Just ring me up when you’re done with it. Is that okay?” Jennie asks

The chubby landlord makes a fast dash out of the house leaving the latter behind. Jennie sighs lightly. “You can do it Jennie” she pats herself on the shoulder.

Jisoo makes her way to the lecture hall and couldn’t help but notices the students were extra talkative today. Some were too immerse in talking and the others secretly glancing her way.

She saw her best friend entered the scene from the opposite direction. Jisoo jogs and tap the latter’s shoulder.

“Whoa, what happen to your lips??” Jisoo exclaims as her best friend turn to face her.

Chaeyoung huffs in annoyance “To think that handball is an innocent sport would be the greatest lie in the history”

Jisoo snickers and knock the latter’s head lightly “Be careful next time stupid”

Chaeyoung gives a big smile. She thank god that Jisoo doesn’t think too much of the situation. “So what’s up Princess?”

 “It’s a bit chatty this morning, wonder what’s happening in the campus…” Jisoo gasps all of a sudden “No no no”

“What? What? What?” The smaller girl internally panic

“Please don’t tell me that Jennie Kim is plotting something stupid… Jesus nooo” Jisoo rubs her forehead
