Chapter 2/?

Toby blinks rapidly as he sits still on the stool at the Kim’s Penthouse. In front of him, sat a young Korean American woman, that he has known for the most part of his life.

Jennie Kim.

Jennie Kim. There are many things that he could describe what kind of person Jennie Kim is. She is soft hearted, jovial, trustworthy… okay he lied. There aren’t many words that he could use to define his best friend. It’s not like Jennie is bad person or anything. She’s just… difficult. Not in a bratty kind of way. Just plain difficult.  

“Toby, can you please say something” Jennie utters under her breath.

Before the lanky guy could say anything, Hanna slams her palm on the kitchen counter “Jennie Kim. What you did is beyond comprehension. What were you thinking??”

Jennie clearly looks offended  “Excuse me, need I remind you that YOU are the one who told me to express myself better. I m just doing what you want me to do”

“I Know what I told you Jennie, but seriously. What on earth crosses your mind at that time?”

“Albino Ape”

Toby and Hanna scrutinizes the girl in front of them. The look of disbelief strewn over their faces, looking at the petite girl as if she has just grown a third head whilst Jennie on the other hand seems unfazed.

“Come again?” Toby asks not really understanding the word that came out from the latter’s mouth.

“That’s what crosses my mind. An ape”

Jennie groans, pulling strands of her hair in frustration “Please tell me that it isn’t that bad” She rest her head on the kitchen counter and starts blabbering nonsensical things

“It’s not that bad…. I guess” Toby scratches his head. “We just have to see what’s going to happen tomorrow”

Upon the mention the word ‘tomorrow’, Jennie faces her best friends at neck speed. “No. I don’t want to go back. There’s nothing left for me there. I have lost myself and my dignity”

“Don’t be such a drama queen. Nothing weird is going to happen tomorrow” Hanna huff  in annoyance

“So….” Toby trails his words, focusing on his friend once again “What are you going to do tomorrow?”

Jennie grunts, slamming her forehead against he kitchen counter whilst Toby pats her head awkwardly

[A few hours ago]

Before either Toby, Wendy and Hanna could realised, Jennie Kim jumps over their table, running as fast as she can towards Kim Jisoo at the end of the cafeteria.

“What on earth…. JENNIE! Where are you going??”

Jennie ignores Wendy’s voice who’s calling out her name. She couldn’t think straight as she makes out Jisoo’s face a few feet in front of her. A little bit more Jen! She keeps repeating the words as if its a mantra in her head. She turns her gaze slight to the right. The ape man was faster, making his way towards her Queen.

Darn those genetically engineered ape legs, she curses under her breath. She blamed herself  for not listening to her sister’s complaints about her inactiveness when it comes to outdoor activities.

DAMN YOU PAST JENNIE! YOU INCOMPETENT LAZY

Why on earth that she feels like Jisoo was practically standing at the end of the world??
