Pieces Of A Heart III

Monday Noon

Jongin × Kyungsoo

Every Monday after campus, Jongin and Kyungsoo would walk home together because their classes end at the same time.

Jongin who is exhausted immediately jumps onto the couch once they arrive in their dorm, immediately snuggling into the cushion, purposely scraping his skin against the warm fabric to get comfortable. He only gets up to reach for his bag and makes it his pillow for the afternoon before he sleeps again.

Kyungsoo, who is also tired, opts to sit on the floor with his back resting against the couch where Jongin sleeps on, eventually fiddling with his phone.

Once or twice (or maybe way much more than that) Kyungsoo looks back to see Jongin's face, only to meet the sight of the back of Jongin's head, a tuft of messy brown hair. It's already at the ending weeks of September, but Jongin keeps on wearing thin t-shirts as if it's the beginning of summer, and Kyungsoo chuckles when Jongin's figure curls into a ball because of the slowly emerging coldness. He picks up the jacket Jongin had carelessly thrown on the floor when they came in, and drapes it on Jongin, especially covering Jongin's slightly exposed tummy to prevent Jongin from getting stomach ache. He takes off the glasses from Jongin's face and puts it somewhere safe, 'tsk'ing because he doesn't want it to be the 12th glasses Jongin broke. He was about to sit again when he notices that Jongin didn't even take off his shoes yet. He pulls them off Jongin's feet and puts them on the floor.

Sighing, Kyungsoo shakes his head in amusement as he wonders how would Jongin ever survive college if he is not here, if he is not his roommate.

He then gets back to his phone, browsing about some materials for his thesis. As usual, he waits for Jongin to wake up from his cat nap so they can take turns to shower and go out for dinner.

What Kyungsoo doesn't know is that, Jongin doesn't really fall asleep. He only closes his eyes, checking his wristwatch every now and then, and for exactly twenty minutes, he rests with the warmth of Kyungsoo's body against his back.

Twenty minutes of resting and listening to Kyungsoo's soft hums of 'Summertime Sadness' are the best minutes in his day.
