Excitement bubbles in his chest. Having the employees he loves so much in one room to celebrate Christmas is a gift in itself, Donghae thinks with a grin as Heechul claps him on the shoulder in passing. His gift hangs heavy in his hands, the neatly wrapped candles bouncing on his thigh as they gather in a circle on the carpet.

“I bet I can guess what you got,” Donghee waggles his eyebrows, prompting Donghae to roll his eyes while he takes the box out of the bag and shoves it into the pile in the centre of the circle.

“Hey, what can I say, I have a type,” Donghae shrugs. Donghee’s eyes widen with delight and he hastens to add, “of gifts! I have a type for gifts!”

“Sure,” Heechul snickers, joining them. Donghae looks up to see Sungmin and Hyukjae take their seats next to Kyuhyun. Hyukjae looks uneasy and is avoiding his gaze. Donghae frowns a little but Sungmin catches his eye and shakes his head with an amused grin.

Jongwoon dives into the pile the moment they’re all seated and shoves a present at Jungsoo. “Boss! Since you’re the boss, you’re first.”

Donghae watches with awe as Jungsoo unveils a gorgeous wine decanter. “I think I’m jealous,” he murmurs.

“See! We do treat you well,” Heechul says loudly.

Jungsoo raises an eyebrow. “Don’t act like you got this for me, Heechul. Ryeowook did.”

Ryeowook looks both flattered and betrayed. “Boss! How did you know?”

“What’s short and grumpy and can’t keep a secret?” Siwon muses as he opens his gift, smiling at the expensive leather wallet. “Thank you!”

Ryeowook tries to swat Kyuhyun and nearly smacks Youngwoon in the face. Donghae shakes his head at their chaos and takes the opportunity to go next. “Hyukjae!” he calls, lifting his purple box. “Your turn,” he smiles, politely ignoring the horror in Hyukjae’s eyes. Maybe his gift is too obviously from him?
