This was a bad idea. Hyukjae was under the impression that his boyfriend’s ‘oh, I did skating as a kid but haven’t done it in a while’ meant that he could just hold Donghae’s hand and be dragged around the rink, putting in minimal effort and getting to call it romantic.

Donghae being some kind of secret Olympic champion was not part of the deal, okay.

“Come on, Hyukjae!” Donghae says, neatly twirling on the ice before slowing to skate alongside him. Backwards. “It’s easier if you let go of the wall.”

“Oh, off,” he says, ignoring the little kids gasping at his language and looking at him with wide eyes. “I didn’t think it’d be this hard, or that you’d be this good!”

Donghae’s eyes glitter with amusement. “That’s what she said.”

“For the love of- you!” Frustration giving way to easy anger, Hyukjae pushes himself off the wall and ignores his innate fear of injury to charge after Donghae. “Get back here so I can kill you!”

Donghae can only laugh. “Look, Hyukjae, you’re doing it!”

Hyukjae glares at him. The is still skating backwards.
