“Mom, I’m going to basketball practice!” Kim Jaehwan, Jae’s only brother, shouted as he pulled his sports equipment bag over his shoulder.
“Wait, take these brownies for after practice!”
Mrs. Kim came out of the kitchen with a warm smile, handing him two large catering sized aluminium foil trays full of fresh baked chocolate goods.
Jaehwan stared dumbly at the huge trays of pastries, and at his mother, who seemed oblivious to his rising panic.
“I know, I know. I’ll send your sister along with you to help you carry them.” Mrs. Kim grinned, and Jaehwan let out a sigh of relief.
“Jae! Kim Jae! Go help your brother carry brownies to practice!” Mrs. Kim shouted up the stairs, and Jaehwan grinned when he heard hurried thudding on the staircase.
Jae rushed down the stairs with a bright smile, and Jaehwan frowned at her as he scanned her outfit.
“Why are you wearing a skirt? You don’t really like wearing those things. And why is it so short? Why are you so dressed up?” Jaehwan raised an eyebrow at her black pleated skater skirt matched with a oversized sweater top and combat boots.
“Why so many questions? What’s it to you if I feel like being a little dressed up?” Jae shot back, primly tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear before glaring back at him.
“I don’t want my little sister to wear a short skirt when it’s barely summer outside. It’s only spring, you’re going to catch a cold.” Jaehwan the thin material of her shirt before his eyebrows furrowed even more.
Jae rolled her eyes. “Kim Jaehwan, you are exactly 3 minutes and 46 seconds older than me, stop acting like you’re years older. We are twins.”
She emphasized the word twins as their mother watched from the side, looking amused.
Jaehwan sighed. “Fine, but if any of my teammates see- wait…...I see what’s going on here.”
He gave a knowing grin, and Jae’s eyes widened in panic as her eyes flitted between her mother and her brother.
“Ahahahaha, dear oppa, we should get you to practice before we’re late.” Jae nervously laughed aloud as Jaehwan let himself be dragged out with a satisfactory grin.
The twins walked together to the outdoors basketball court in the neighborhood park. Jae shifted the tray of brownies uncomfortably as they were growing heavier as time passed. Jaehwan sighed, stopping and motioned at her to give him the trays.
“Take my bag instead.” He gave her his sports bag, and she carried it happily as Jaehwan shook hi
