“What?” Doyeon was standing at her locker, looking incredulously at Daniel.

“Please, Doyeon, we used to be best friends!” Daniel begged her.

“You want me to pretend to be your girlfriend so that you can make Gahee jealous? You and I haven’t talked since the 8th grade!” Doyeon shot back at Daniel.

“Besides, isn’t Gahee dating Jichan right now? Are you trying to get her back?” Doyeon referred to the time Gahee and Daniel dated.

“It’s more like I want to get back at her. She’s just dating him to spite me!” Daniel protested.

“You’re such a kid. Loving and liking someone isn’t about winning or losing, it’s about what you’re going to do to win their trust and to truly care about them.” Doyeon scolded.

“Yeah, whatever. It just pisses me off that I have nothing to say in her face. Please? Come one, who’s my favorite DoDo?” Daniel make a cute face, doing aegyo.

Doyeon made a face. “Fine, as long as you don’t call me that. In return, I require bubble tea whenever I ask for it. You buy me food, I pretend to be your girlfriend. Deal?”

“Deal.” They shook hands, each satisfied with their own request.

“What do I need to do?” Doyeon asked, snapping her gum. They were in Chemistry together, working on a lab write up, sitting in the back.

“Uh, what girlfriends and boyfriends do?” Daniel scratched his head.

“What did you and Gahee do when you guys dated?” Doyeon asked.

“Um…..nothing?” Daniel shrugged.

“I see why it didn’t end up well.” She muttered.

The bell rang, signifying the end of class.

“Okay, I heard Gahee talking to her friends that she’s going on a date with Jichan in Myungdong. We’re going to go to, and on our way there, I’ll teach you what to do in a relationship.” Doyeon instructed as Daniel nodded innocently.

On the bus to Myungdong, Doyeon went over the things they were supposed to do.

“Okay, so usually couples hold hands, or like, the guy puts their arm around the girl’s waist or shoulder, but I mean, I know you might be uncomfortable with that, so just link arms or whatever. Make sure the girl is your focal point.” Doyeon taught him little things.

Daniel nodded off, not really listening.

“Daniel, do you want her to be jealous or not?” Doyeon demanded.

“I can’t do all of this sweet stuff, I’ve never done it before.” Daniel complained.

“First, you asked to do this. Second, I know it’s hard, but it’s because you don’t like me. When you truly like the girl, I promise this will be easier.” Doyeon sighed.

They got off the bus and started to go through the shops, awkwardly shuffling together with the crowd. Not far ahead of them were Gahee and Jichan, laughing and looking at little trinkets together.

While they were walking, Doyeon kept on stumbling due to the large number of people in the streets. Daniel noticed, and put his arm around her, guiding her towards the inner part of the sidewalk where it was safer. He kept his arm around her, leading her towards a accessory.

Doyeon felt her heart flutter at the slight romantic gesture, but reminded herself that it wasn’t like that. Truthfully, she had liked him, but he had gone through the popular crowd in high school, and they didn’t talk at all anymore. She still remembered the dorky and lanky Daniel obsessed with Naruto, but now he was lean and tall, and more good looking.
