He turned his head to look at her face as she slept. Her lashes rested, damp and sticking together, against the lower part of her eyes. He could see the tracks of tears left on her cheek and her soft lips were slightly swollen. He can’t stop looking at her but he also knows that he should probably wake her up. It’s starting to get later and the air is cooler than before. He hugs her tightly before taking his chin from her shoulder and rubbing her arms gently to shake her away. He watches her eyes flutter, then fly open as she realizes where she is and whose arms are around her.

She turned to look at him, hastily rubbing her eyes and gently pulling herself from his warm arms. She spoke in a voice that had an edge of forced laughter.

“Oh my goodness, Syung…..I mean Hyesung, you actually let me fall asleep?” She covers and giggles. “I hope I didn’t snore or drool on you.” She stands and rubs her arms and slips her hands into the pockets of her jeans, so she won’t be tempted to touch him. “Um it’s getting late. Can you take me home now please?” He walks over to her and places one arm around her shoulder.

“Sure, it’s too chilly for you out here anyway.” They walked back towards the restaurant, where they left the car. He opens her door to let her in and she buckles herself quickly. He goes around to his side and climbs in, starting the car and turning the heater on. She is sitting as close to the door as she can and looking out the window, avoiding his gaze. He sighs and turns the radio on again, slipping his newest CD in and starting it. “Is this okay? Or would you like to listen to something else?” He speaks to her softly, glancing at her out of the corner of his eye. Her only response is a slight nod he assumes is agreement. He turns the music up a little so that she doesn’t feel forced to carry on a conversation. She looks just as sad and uncomfortable as she did when she was standing outside the restaurant. Things were going so well and now it looked as if she wouldn’t want to see him again.

“Can we stop to get something warm to drink?” She whispers softly, finally turning to look at him. “I feel so cold.” She shivers slightly and wraps her arms around herself tightly. He looked at her and turned the heater up just a bit more b
