She leaned towards him with her eyes closed and gently touched her lips to his. She moved back to look at him, he had his eyes closed again and had a little smile on his lips. She stared at his face for a moment before he opened his eyes again. Instead of getting shy again, she stared him down.

"You startled me" she told him, her voice slightly indignant. He responded with a laugh, "Did I? I was just saying thank you for fixing my hair. Why did you kiss me?"

She thought about her answer carefully before she spoke. "Well, ummmm, you see......

She couldn’t think of a reason other than the fact that he looked kind of sweet.

“You don’t have to answer”, he said, laughing. His laugh was husky and made her want to kiss him again. She moved off of the bed again, putting some distance between herself and him. It was getting late and she had work the next day. She hated to leave but she had to get some sleep.

He laid on the bed and watched her slip her shoes back on, keeping her eyes down the whole time.

“So now you’re embarrassed and running away from me?” he said, a smile on his face. She looked up at the sound of his voice. “It’s not on…I mean it’s not that. I have work in the morning and I can’t be late, I’m in charge of the coffee shop and there is a lot to get done.” She spoke in a rush of words.

He sat up on the bed and grabbed her hand. Still smiling, he held his other hand out. “Your phone please?” She handed it to him with a hand that shook. Sliding his long, delicate finger up the screen, he unlocked it and found the contacts and deftly typed in a number and his initials JPK and handed it back to her. “Call me when your shift is over and we can have dinner”, he said, still smiling at her. She just took the phone from him and stared. The look of shock on her face made him laugh again. He pulled her in for a one armed hug and wished her good night. She walked out of the room backwards, still shocked. After she left the room she
