Before I start anything on the Prequel, I have to put this proof below:

I completed what I promised in 3 months and 1 day!!! xD For the prequel I wouldn't rush like the main story, mainly because of personnal commitments and I have decided to revive Soulmate!!! I know I know, some people waited forever for it. I just need a bit more motivation and push for me to get back to that. =P

So presenting to you first chapter of the Prequel...

Children are innocent and pure. And we all started there, as an innocent, pure child. Same goes for Eric, the man who was driven to revenge; driven to take the lives of dozens…

The day was filled with hustle and bustle since morning. Eric picked up another shirt and flicked it hard with both his hands to straighten it out as he studied the shirt. It looked seemly, light blue and collared.

“Are you done?” He projected his voice to the bathroom. The tiny Andy emerged, dressed in the brothers’ best jeans and a dark coloured T-shirt Eric had chosen for him earlier. Eric beamed as he studied Andy’s outlook, nodding in approval. “Now try this,” the older one stretched out his hand with the light blue shirt in it.

Andy obeyed obediently, his face not betraying the weightiness in his heart. The young boy could not bear to dishearten his brother when Eric was so thrilled about the day. His brother was always so eager whenever someone visited the orphanage hoping to adopt a child. Andy, predictably, was the child Eric hoped could get adopted and be with a loving family. But this was not the younger brother’s wish. The thing that Andy truly wanted was to stay with Eric. Then again, it was rare that any family would commit themselves to adopt two children at a go.

“You look PERFECT!” A wide smile hung on Eric’s face when Andy re-emerged from the bathroom in the collared light blue shirt. The older one rested his palms on Andy’s shoulders, turning him around and steering him to the hall where the potential adopters were at.

Like any other time, Andy stayed prim and proper under Eric’s fervent eyes when they reached the hall. Like always, with his cute look and his brother’s tremendous effort in endorsing him, Andy was picked as the “lucky” child. Like all previous times he was picked, Andy had a week to make the family give up on adopting him and send him back to Eric.

“Andy…” the orphanage director probed the seven year old boy in her office. It was the 4^th time Andy was sent back to the orphanage after four different families had agreed to adopt him. The director knew Andy was not a mischievous child. On the contrary, he was one of the sweetest and best-behaved one in the orphanage.

The young boy lowered his head as tears escaped his eyes without permission. “I don’t want to be separated from hyung,” the boy cried. “Don’t send me away please. I want to be with hyung.”

Unknown to Andy and the orphanage director, an anxious Eric was standing outside the office, painfully listening to his brother’s genuine wish. The older one of the brothers had run away from his class after receiving news that his brother’s adoption was yet again unsuccessful.

Eric always thought he was doing Andy well by wanting Andy to be adopted into a loving family. Now he finally realised, no one can replace him as family in little Andy’s heart.

And that was when the nine year old Eric made a resolution to himself. He will keep the brothers together. No matter how tough life might be in the future, the brothers will stay together.

*** 10 years later ***

The sun shined brightly and the lush green colour of the trees made the day even livelier as they welcomed the nineteen year old who stepped out of the building. Eric beamed at the welcoming sight, taking a deep breath to enjoy the fresh air. He had just signed the papers and was finally his brother’s legal guardian. The thought of Andy made his smile even wider as he strolled to the bus stop.

“Hi, do you want to take a look at the career fair?” A female about Eric’s age handed him a piece of flyer. Eric looked up doubtfully. He hadn’t had plans about his career yet, but now that he is legally responsible for himself and Andy, maybe it was time he should give a thought to the money aspect of their lives. “The fair is just over there,” the female smiled and pointed to a huge tentage several meters from the bus stop. Eric thanked the female politely and walked over.

The number of companies and organisations at the fair was overwhelming for the fresh faced young man. He wandered around, awing at the big names when a hand tapped on his shoulder.

“You looked young to have completed your tertiary studies. The police force is currently offering bonds and scholarships. How about learning more about them before jumping into the work force?” The man that tapped his shoulder smiled warmly. “I’m Minwoo, I can explain to you further about our police academy and the bonds and scholarships we are offering.”

The two young men clicked instantly as soon as Minwoo initiated chatting with the more reserved Eric while on their way to the booth. Eric learned that Minwoo was the same age as him and was currently a student in the police academy. The police academy also offered dorms to students and if Eric was successful in applying for the scholarship or bond, his would receive allowances on top of not needing to pay for his study.

Eric deliberated for a moment. “If I were to sign up, can my brother stay with me in the dorm?”

“Your brother? But wouldn’t it be inconvenient for him? Other than the academy our dorms aren’t really near anywhere.”

Eric lowered his head uncomfortably. “I just changed myself to be his legal guardian and we don’t own a place at the moment. He can continue to stay at the orphanage but I don’t really want to be separated from him.”

“Oh…” Minwoo replied thoughtfully. “Technically it is not allowed, but it really depends if you are being found out.” The shorter man smirked and winked at him, “I can arrange that for you easily! How old is he?”

“Seventeen.”

“Seventeen? He can try applying for our scholarships or bonds too.” Minwoo said. He studied Eric for a while. “I can see you really loved your brother.”

The corners of Eric's lips lifted. How can he not love his angel?
