Part 11✦
You Can Change“His shoulder’s pretty bad, but he should be fine.”
“That’s good, thank you, Nurse Lee.”
These were the first voices he heard when he woke up. His brain pounded against his head, and he was awake.
Jungkook remembered everything, or, at least, everything he saw and heard. The white and green lights. Minah. The sound of his back smashing against the lockers. His shoulder. The black out. He remembered it all. It was all so strange, all so confusing,
His eyes squeezed together in a blink as he tried to open them and show he was awake. It took a few seconds, but his blurred vision finally cleared, and he was met with a completely white room, free of any people besides the girl stood next to him.
“Hey,” Youngmi said softly. “You’re awake.”
“Yeah. What happened?”
“You fell down some stairs.”
“What? What about Minah, I remember I wasn’t near any stairs, I was with her. Where is she?”
Youngmi stared at him with sympathy evident in her eyes. “There’s no one called Minah.”
He felt his heart stop.
Not again.
Minah was real, he knew she was, it wasn’t like Youngmin, he knew she was real, he’d spoken to her, touched her, held her hand, almost-almost kissed her; she was real.
“Youngmi, tell me the truth, where is she? What’s going on?”
Her lip trembled. “Y-You hit your head hard, you sprained your shoulder, you could’ve imagined anything.”
“I am not crazy. I know what I saw, and what I've been seeing.”
Youngmi simply stared at him, there was nothing she could say to him without aggravating him even further.
He tried to get up and leave, but he winced at the pain coming from his arm. Of course, his shoulder. It was the only thing that kept him remembering what happened. He remembered the white light come inches from his shoulder, and he remembered the hit.
Youngmi was telling him he’d fallen down stairs. Did she really believe that? Or was she hiding something?
