The shining sun knocked the doors of my eyes , I forcibly opened my eyes , I looked around realizing that I’m really in the hospital and it wasn’t just a bad dream.

My eyes searched for the appearance of Zelo but the only thing I caught was his jacket that he used to cover me the night before.

I looked at my watch , “it’s 12:42 am ! God .. I missed school,” I said to myself

My eyes stared at my drowsy grandma that looked more like a corpse, “good morning grandma”

My legs led me to the window where I enjoyed watching the view , “no one is as heartless as my parents , they didn’t bother answering their phones”

I grabbed my phone and texted my dad :

Your mother is dying , come and say your last goodbyes !

I put my phone back to my pocket then looked again at the view , “I can’t believe U-kwon didn’t call once .. it’s been a month since I last heard his voice”

Zelo interrupted my thoughts by opening the door holding a cup of coffee in his hand , “hey there,” he said catching my attention.

“hey ..”

He handed me the cup of coffee then sat above the couch , “you look much better than last night , you were really tired,” he said

I sat beside him then I said , “I might look like I overreacted but , if you only knew what my grandma means to me”

“I can tell how much you love her , well .. I don’t know if I would sound rude if I asked but you already look at me as a rude boy so I’ll ask anyway ..”

“aigoo ~ just ask”

“I don’t see your parents around , I bet they’re dead”

I kept looking at the cup of coffee with silence , “correct me if I’m wrong !,” he said.

“they’re alive , but dead in my eyes,” I was ashamed of my parents’ cold heart so I kept staring at the coffee.

“a dysfunctional family ?”

“yeah , the perfect description for them”

After few seconds the door slowly opened and my dad entered the room , I stood up immediately then I asked , “you’re finely here ?!”

“hello dear,” he said with his manly voice

He gave me a hug then he said , “I missed you so much”

He released the hug , “I came here to pick you up”

“pick me up ?”

He stood beside my grandma then he said , “the doctors said that she won’t live for too long , you can’t stay here alone”

“what do you mean ? I don’t wanna leave the country with you ! my whole life is here”

“sweetheart you have to travel with me , you can’t stay alone in your grandmother’s empty house”

“forget it dad , I don’t wanna go”

“come on Hanna , let’s go,” my dad insisted

“I . said . no !”

My dad held my hand , “let’s go,” he started dragging me , I thrown away his hand then I said , “what is wrong with you ?! she is your mother !”

“but sweetie..”

“she’s not dead yet , even if she died , I rather stay alone than living with you”

My dad sighed then he said , “I’ll pick you up tomorrow , you’ll come with me”

He looked at Zelo then he said , “who are you ? you’re her boyfriend ?”

“I’m ..”

I interrupted , “just leave dad”

My dad cleaned his throat then he headed outside the room.

I sighed and sat beside Zelo.

“you’ll leave with your dad ?,” Zelo asked

“no way”

“may I ask why ?”

I looked at Zelo then I said , “because I’m a one unlucky black duck”

Zelo sighed then he said , “you’ll feel better if you shared your pain”

“don’t act like you care please”

“this is your problem Hanna , you think I don’t actually care when indeed I do”

He tapped my back then he said , “your grandma is going to be just fine”.
